Like others have mentioned, Spinnakers does have a nice view, no question about that. Unfortunately, that’s pretty much where the positives end. The place looks tacky and outdated, and the food is abysmal. It might make you chuckle to see the mentions of Denny’s, George Webb’s or Applebee’s in these reviews, but the sad truth is, these comparisons are spot-on. At best, the food is less than Red Lobster quality(Actually, the comparison is unfair to Red Lobster) and given the quality — or lack thereof — is insanely overpriced. Won’t be back.

Well, it’s got a fantastic view and the décor could be considered retro. Other than that, I think you can do better elsewhere in Oconomowoc. Nice place to have glass of wine or cocktail on a warm summer night. If you are expecting heirloom tomatoes on your salad, and fingerling potatoes with your steak, you will be sorely disappointed. I hear their fried fish is A-OK. So there’s that, oh and the view.

There’s really only one reason to come here and it’s not the food. This is the only place on the lake at which you can tie up a boat. Otherwise, there are many other better choices in town.

A great location with very poor food quality. If you want anything fresh or not canned forget about it. But they do have a good view. Cold soup, a sad sad iceberg lettuce salad with one tomato slice and one cucumber slice… They offered to let me substitute a potato for vegetables for $ 4.50… And they were frozen vegetables. I also ordered tortilla soup which was obviously from a can… Slow service, too. I would never go back… Anyone who writes a positive review for this business must be a friend or family because to anyone else it would be very disappointing.

Good, but not great. I went here at 7pm on a Friday for dinner and the restaurant was about 75% full. We were greeted right away by the host, but waited ten minutes before I finally had to go back to the host stand to ask where our server was. After that mishap though, we had great service and our server was genuinely sorry and very polite. I ordered the fried cod and my girlfriend got the linguine alfredo. Both dishes were good, but neither was really special or better than your usual fare someplace else. The flavors were just not there, mediocre at best. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and is decorated in a lake theme with wooden piers, rope, and wooden seagulls.

This food was so bad and overpriced it was laughable… almost! When you spend nearly $ 90.00(with no drinks) for three people and the food looks and tastes like a bad Denny’s, you wish you would have gone to Denny’s!!! The wait staff looked like they came from George Webb’s. The outside dining included plastic flannel-backed tablecloths and cheap plastic chairs. Oh, and did I mention, the food is TERRIBLE!!! Don’t waste your money…

This is a great seafood place! They have very nice waiters too! It’s has a nice bar in the front and a great screen porch in the back.

Not worth it. Hostess was rude. Tables and chairs on the patio were plastic. Very cheesy. Food wasn’t very good. I will never eat here again.

Took some out of town guests here to enjoy the outdoor seating and lake view. We really enjoyed how they’ve set up the porch. Totally enclosed with screen– kept the bugs out but was very easy to see through. We were shaded from the sun and they even had a fan going, so it was perfect. Prices were a little higher than I’d expect. Good variety on the menu. Server was friendly but not very available. My party had the crab-asparagus sandwich– looked like mock krab to me, but she enjoyed it. I had the Friday fish and shrimp fry($ 12.95) with potato pancakes(they were huge! and served with delicious homemade(?) applesauce). Menu said it was served with hot sourdough bread, but I had to ask for bread later in the meal and it was a couple buns and packaged breadsticks. The shrimp was very tasty and the two pieces of fish were good– a little different with some seasoning in the breading. Overall, it was a nice place to enjoy the lake and some fun(little over the top) seaside décor inside. Everything was clean and food was hot. Could have used a few more stops by the waitress to get my bread and refills on water. Also, I was billed incorrectly, which they fixed, but I find a bit annoying.

Atmosphere, food and service were awful. Hasn’t been updated since the 70’s. Dark and dirty as you’ll notice from the front entry. Please call Gordon Ramsey for help or just close down. Location on water is great, you should be able to sell the place quickly.

If you enjoy brown iceburg lettuce salads and rotten grapes as «fresh fruit», then this might be the place for you. Probably the worst meal I have had in a long time. The salmon was underwhelming and the steak was like nothing I had ever seen before. It was almost white in color on the inside. Table were sticky and gross the service was average at best. We wanted to go out for a nice dinner on our anniversary but would have been MUCH happier at Applebees. And that tells you about all you need to know.

Good food, good atmosphere, laid back service. If you are in a rush go to McDs. Come with friends, have a drink and relax.

Reading a couple comments amused me. This is a family owned, lake side restaurant. Why would you be put off by beach décor on the outside seating area? We were not put off by the plastic chairs outside, they had plenty of real furniture inside if that was your preference. When my salad arrived, a typical bag mix, my expectations for the meal were not high. Then I noticed the ice cold plate the salad was served on that kept if crisp. Escargot for an appetizer was not a garlic laden as we are used to in our home area, but were very good, served in the hot dish, on top of a hot plate. Both our dishes were served on hot plates, presentation is not their strong suite, but flavor sure is! My Tuna was cooked as I requested [medium]. the mango salsa came in a little plastic cup almost as an afterthought… it was very good, a nice topping for the tuna. Hubby’s walleye was wonderful, light breading, seasoned and pan fried. The skin was crispy, not soft like some places. Very well prepared. You must try their version of twice baked potato, ranch flavoring, baked with a nice crisp crust and creamy inside, some of the best I’ve had. Very relaxing, looking at the water, we were lucky enough to go on a Wednesday when we could hear the municipal band playing… a page out of «Music Man». I would not call this a seafood restaurant, I credit the nautical décor to the location. the seafood is on the menu, but it is widely varied with many other choices. If we were back in this area, we would be sure to go back and try some of their other items! Someone near us had a steak and it looked very good.

Wow, this food was bad. For a place with such a nice view, it is a shame that they serve seafood from the Sysco freezer department.

We recently dined at Spinnakers. We have been on the hunt for a good seafood place. Spinnakers didn’t thrill us but we did have a nice meal in a nice atmosphere that was very clean. We were greeted right away and the greeter was very friendly. The bathrooms were clean and there is a room for coats which is nice. We didn’t sit at the bar but it looked like a very nice place to have a drink. I did order a vodka martini which was made well to my good pleasure. Our waitress was unhurried, very nice and helpful. Our food arrived in a timely fashion. The food is where the restaurant disappointed up. None of our dishes really ‘wowed” us. They were made well, tender, juicy but not a lot of flavor and the serving size was rather small. For the price I really expected more.(The very next day we went to a slightly less expensive place and the serving sizes made my eyes pop out and the flavors were incredible.) Still on the lookout for that really good seafood restaurant.

it was really nice to sit out on the lake. i thought the tables and chairs were great — not greasy at all. our waitress was also really, really friendly. it was sooo windy, but we managed to keep all of our cups on the table. what a gorgeous day. we ordered a chef salad, which was delicious, but i’ve had better for that much money! we also got the sampler platter for an appetizer. another thing that i thought was overpriced for the amount of food. but we did enjoy ourselves, and their chardonnay was delicious. great spot to bring kids probably, too!

Spinnaker’s is a family restaurant with a very relaxed attitude. The tables outside on the deck are of the plastic lawn furniture variety and are covered with plastic tablecloths. Everyone is dressed in tshirts and jeans or shorts. The view from the deck — the sunset over the lake — is spectacular. As the restaurant’s name suggests, the menu is heavily slanted towards seafood. The food is good, especially when considering that most dishes are in the $ 15-$ 20 range(steaks and lobster were in the $ 25-$ 30 range). My only note is that this isn’t a place to go if you have other plans for the night. The service is unhurried and never once gave the impression of wanting to turn the table. My guess is that the ethos of the place is to sit back, relax, and enjoy the food, the view, and the company.
