I purchased a Groupon to this location approximately seven months ago, but unfortunately it expired before I remembered I’d purchased it. Groupon very specifically states on its site that you can still use expired Groupons for CREDIT towards something at the establishment. For example, I should be able to use the $ 59 I paid for my Groupon towards a tanning package or the like from this establishment. I just got off the phone with a VERY rude lady who very tersely informed me that I have to call Groupon for a refund. When I tried to explain that the Groupon policy states that I cannot get a refund if I let it lapse, rather I have the right to use what I have paid towards other services at Miami escape(hence why the Groupon site even says, «Did you forget to use this? Never fear! You can still redeem your Groupon at Miami Escape Tanning for the $ 59.00 you paid, from now to eternity»), the lady on the phone said that asking her or any of the techs at this location to take an expired Groupon is like me going to the grocery store and demanding they take expired coupons. She then said I could email the owner and get permission from him/her, but she did not make it sound like I would get the answer I was looking for. If their customer service is like this on the phone, I can only imagine what it is like in real life. STAYAWAY!!!

I don’t generally go tanning unless there’s some sort of important event coming up where I need to get all fancied up, so I don’t like spending tons of money on tanning services when I do use them. I was doing a Google search one day and came across this particular location since it’s fairly close to my home. Added bonus, I also found a Groupon for a really good one-month deal, so figured I’d check it out. Aside from the amazing deal, I’m not impressed. At first glance, it looks like a cute little salon… the waiting area is actually really nice and welcoming. However, the regular beds are old… and not just a little old, we’re talking the same kind of beds I remember when I was in high school, and without disclosing my age, I will just say that my high school days are LONG gone. I also feel that the prices are way too high for the quality of the beds. The more high-end beds are newer, but the regular beds either need to be trashed or the prices to use them need to be lowered drastically. Almost $ 10 to tan in an old bed with cracked acrylics is a little much if you ask me. I could have sworn that one of the beds even gave me a little shock while I was using it. I definitely think this place would benefit from an equipment update, a more current Facebook page so that customers can be more connected, a price drop for certain beds and a spray tan option. The redeeming qualities: It’s very close to Fort Meade where there aren’t very many tanning salons and customer service is top-notch…the staff is really nice and most of the girls are very knowledgeable about the products they sell. One thing I found a little odd though is that the girls aren’t very tan. Isn’t free tanning one of the perks of working at a salon? I feel like they should be poster girls for their product.
