Brat was just ok because the bun got soggy. Marty valued my opinion and agreed. He explained that they are currently looking for better bread that May come from toppers in the near future so come back and try it out. And he offered me a cookie which I politely declined. Its nice to know that there are owners out there perhaps watching your reaction because they care to listen so for that I’m giving this place a four and leaving room for a perfect score for when I try this place again.

I’m always looking for that perfect Reuben Sandwich. The reviews on Unilocal were excellent so I was excited to try. The place was clean and the staff friendly. But the sandwich was so-so and the price seemed high without including a dring and/or chips.

This place could have been great. But tell me why everyone I was with got their food before me when I ordered first? Oh, because the cashier didn’t grab my written order she gave it to me. And how was I to know they needed it to make my sandwich til it was about 20 min when I finally walked up and asked about it, then I waited another 20 min when all of my friends were done eating. I went back to the register and I all they gave me was an insincere apology with my sandwich in a to-go box when I asked to eat in. I told them to give me my money back but they didn’t even offer that at first and didn’t give me the sandwich anyway! Thanks, you bunch of racist assholes. Fuck this shit place.

Finally, a place with deli in the name that’s an actual deli. This place is also the best German deli I’ve seen in probably years, easily the best in state and effortlessly combines a sort of classic feel with modern sensibilities. There are groceries and various other stuff in there, but my interest went right to the sandwiches and if there is a better sandwich place in Ogden, I don’t know of it. They use very high quality cuts of meat, very soft, spongy, chewy and slightly firm bread and the spreads are also top notch. Coke Zero is on the tap. I was in a hurry and didn’t take a ton of time to explore, but I could easily spend a good hour wandering around looking at stuff, I would wager. This definitely is on my lunch hitlist now and I’m loving this sort of downtown resurgence of Ogden, of which this place plays no small part. Nothing but awesome here and this is another rarity, a 4-for-now with an expected increase as I work my way through the menu… they even have punch cards.

Finally scoped out this delicatessen after passing it on Grant for the 100th time. The number of customers during lunch hour was sufficient encouragement. As a first timer, the ordering procedure was a little confusing. I stood around trying to find a line but essentially you fill out a form and take it to the register.(Just an FYI) I ordered the whole«Capone» sandwich(8.25) thinking that half wouldn’t be enough. And, boy was I wrong. Don’t be fooled by it’s size, the sandwich is loaded with prosciutto, mortadella, and salami. The balsamic vinaigrette wasn’t my favorite but thankfully it wasn’t too overpowering. So as an initial visit I was pleased with the service and quality of the food. I look forward to returning and trying their briskets and hungarian goulash.

My husband and I had lunch at Berlin’s. My husband is a fan of German food. He asked for traditional German hot potato salad and was told they did not have it but had it in the past, it was not popular with the customers. We each had one of their sandwiches which were good. And the service was excellent. While we were there, a German pastry Chief was passing out samples. All excellent desserts. In my opinion it is a German/American place with a great deli of good food. Suggest to the management in the future, have some German musicians in traditional clothes come and entertain the customers. Not just in October for October Fest maybe 4 times a year or more.

My husband and I shared a full sized Egyptian sandwich. It had lots of great quality meat, and was delicious. I bought a couple of grocery items that were reasonably priced. Every staff member was cheerful, helpful, and speedy. Marty Berlin was right there listening to what we had to say. Super clean with a great vibe. Can’t wait to return.

Way toooo expensive for a sandwich plus it took forever to wait for it!!! Advice!!! To the management, Once you get the order, add in the ticket color of the shirt that the person is wearing. That way your runners doesn’t have to wait time and your clients receive their sandwiches hot…

If I lived downtown I would never cook again! I came here the first time yesterday because I love German food. The Wiener schnitzel was delicious! I came back today and had the Hungarian goulash. Excellent! I’ve tasted the Reuben, the Capone, and the Egyptian sandwiches-all very good choices. We did notice that they switched from white styrofoam dishes to a harder black plastic plate for the dine-in option. That was a great idea! One suggestion is serve the Wiener schnitzel everyday. It is a deli/grocery store/butcher shop so it’s not necessarily romantic, but it’s great food at a reasonable price. See you at Berlin’s! Auf weidersehen.

I was born and raised in upstate NY, which has a large German presence, and I have been looking forward to Berlin’s opening because I grew up eating in deli’s and eating German food in my family and at local eateries in NY. The first thing I will say is this: We cleaned our plates and left full and happy. The people who served us were great and even whipped up some extra ‘homemade’ dressing when they ran out of what I asked for(we were there on a really busy day) We really enjoyed ourselves. The missing star is for a few reasons. 1) It’s not as authentically German as I know German eateries to be in style or flavor.(We were expecting more of a strong German presence like Seigfried’s Deli in SLC which we love) It’s missing a number of staple food items like the cured/dried meats to snack on that you see in a German deli(in NY) and there aren’t *any* German desserts(strudel, strusel, kuchen, etc) which was pretty disappointing because we really wanted some good German dessert afterward. 2) Some people have complained about the Ruben– but we really enjoyed it a lot(yes, it’s Thousand Island dressing, but we have no major issue with that) — and the meat wasn’t piled up like you see in some places, but it was *plenty* for us and we were really very happy with it. Very tasty meat on it. 3) The Rubens we ordered didn’t come with any sides, which we thought was odd and not great. No chips, or coleslaw, a pickle– nothing. And for the price, we felt the sandwich alone with nothing else was a little a pricey, especially for a lunch type of place. 4) We ordered our own sides to compensate which increased the price– we ordered German potato salad and red cabbage. The German potato salad was more like regular potato salad, but with red potatoes and some pickles in it. Authentic German potato salad is much more minimalist, highly vinegar based and doesn’t have all that mayo on it. The red cabbage was pretty bland and we wouldn’t order it again. It lacked the«tang» of a more authentic recipe and there was a distinct lack of caraway seed in the cooking. HOWEVER — we really did like Berlin’s and will recommend it to friends and will return there again. They’re new, so we thought it was a great place for just opening and getting their«sea legs». I hope that they do move toward a stronger, more authentic German presence in the variety of their food offerings eventually and that they either offer more to eat on the plate or lower their sandwich prices a bit. We’re really happy they’re in Ogden!

I had a hot sandwich my friend had a cold sandwich. We both thought the food was good but nothing too special. They did put the wrong greens on my friend’s sandwich.

Classic east coast deli without the attitude. Awesome meat, top notch. Tons of seating inside and a patio. Soon to be «the» place in Ogden. We had the Capone– highly recommend it.

I am from New York and it does have the Decour as a New York style deli. The thing that it lacks in the menu decisions are custom sandwiches there should be a selection on the papers that they have in shop. Of course this is only the second week that it’s been open so me being very critical of this delicatessen. It would be much nicer if they were all involved with the they should definitely take recommendations from community doors and people that live on 25th and work on 25th St. Other than that very clean environment your typical deli sandwich almost New York.

I have been waiting for this place to open for a while, so I was excited to try it, and I truly want /NEED it to succeed. I ordered a Reuben sandwich, which is my litmus test for the legitimacy of my sandwich shop. It was generally tasty, but I had a few problems with It. 1. Very stingy with the meat. I know it is of high quality, but if I’m paying $ 8.25 for a sandwich, i expect more than 3 slices of corned beef and I should not walk away hungry. 2. I Expected a hot, grilled sandwich, and instead got a panini, that was not hot completely through. 3. A classic Reuben should have Russian dressing, and not 1000 island. Maybe it was just an expectation problem for me. If the menu, rather than calling it a «Classic Reuben» would have called it a «Berlins „reubenesque“ panini» I would have gotten exactly what I was expecting. But then I probably would not have ordered it all together. The staff was very friendly and I felt welcome. I will surely be going back to try some of the other items on the menu. The most positive thing for me, I suppose is the fact that it is truly a mini grocery store filled with all the things that I like… I’ve been wanting a little store like this on 25th street for a while.
