Taco taco is the only Mexican place I like to go to! It’s not Mexican American food with no flavor! Plus ray the owner is amazing.

Taco Taco has been around a long time. I believe the last time I ate here was about 15 years ago, I wasn’t impressed then and I am not impressed now. Customer service was odd, I was told to seat myself as I entered, even though the place was empty it took awhile for the waitress to come by with chips and to take my drink order. Chips seemed homemade but they were really thick and chewy and the fresh salsa had little to no flavor. The menu is large, it took awhile to read through it but I finally ordered the Chile Verde Burrito platter listed on the menu for over $ 9. The food was delivered in a minute or two. My first thoughts, hmmm that burrito is a bit small and cool it has cotija cheese(too bad it is only a light dusting). I quickly dug into the burrito which was smothered is a thin tomatillo sauce. It was filled with a reasonable portion of shredded pork so I was optimistic. My optimism died quickly, the pork was wet, mushy and had no flavor and it appeared to be wrapped in a store bought tortilla, the tomatillo sauce didn’t add much flavor so the burrito was a bust. On to other parts of the platter, the rice was overcooked, mushy and flavorless, the beans were the star of the show, unfortunately the show was a really bad B-Movie. The restaurant is run down and filthy, some may try to call that authentic or rustic but I don’t believe those need to be achieved with dust, dirt or grime. Service is awkward and the food is flavorless, undersized and overpriced. If you are looking for good authentic Mexican food, there is a far better option with flavorful food at half the price just two blocks down Washington Blvd.

«Taco Taco, where have you been all my life?» — a love letter by Anne My dearest Taco Taco, I’ve looked far and wide for 5 years for a placement would serve some real, delicious tacos and Hispanic foods. I’ve tried many a taco stand, many a pseudo Americanized Mexican food, many a hole in the wall pozole shop, only to skip over your simple, subtle, but strong flavored restaurant. Alas, your tacos, legit salsa with legit kick, and wondrous tortillas will never be neglected again. Till our next gastrointestinal embrace, Anne

If you want American Mexican not your place they have daily soup specials ran by Ray it’s a great to see someone that has been doing it this long to still takes pride in what he does that being said service at times can be hit and miss and with some servers are separately at language barrier but definitely worth it

It was fine… nothing remarkable, the chips weren’t as crispy as they should have been, and chips/salsa refills cost money… Not the best Mexican food in the area. Service was ok but a little bit weak… they didn’t really hear/understand our order completely. Probably wouldn’t come back here unless the areas other Mexican restaurants are equally average.

My neighbor and I stopped by and ordered the pozole soup and it was delicious! I loved the flavor, the chunks of meat and the fresh vegetables that the give you to top the soup with. I’ve tried another competitors soup and it wasn’t as flavorful as Taco Taco’s. I will definitely return again for more pozole soup!

The chips and salsa are seriously delicious here. I ordered a carne asada burrito and it was very good. I would definitely come here again and try more items off the menu. If nothing else I would come here just for the chips and salsa… So good.

Real Mexican food is different from one restaurant to another. I love the way they prepare the food at Taco Taco. My first Chili Relleno made with a Poblano pepper & covered in a red sauce, Mmmmm so good. Love the tacos with freshly fried shells prepared at the time you order them, Carne Asada, Fish, Pollo & Potato.…all the Taco Taco tacos are excellent! Staff is friendly and eager to please. Always a great experience.

Man, this place is weird. The atmosphere is weird, the owner is weird, but woah, it’s SO good. I’ve been to Taco Taco a couple of times, I wanted to make sure it was a solid joint before I committed myself to this place. Forget every other place in Ogden, this place is the best for Mexican food. I love the chips and salsa, and I usually gorge myself on it before the main course even starts. I love the tacos, but the chile verde is where it’s at. I’ll be honest, I couldn’t tell you if this was real mexican food or not, but dang, it’s so god that I don’t even care.

The food is edible, however very disappointing with how small the portions are. The chips and salsa were pretty tasty, but once again very small portions and only the first basket is complementary. I had the Enchilada Suizas — they had good flavor, but not much sauce. I also didn’t want the beans and asked for extra rice, but was only given a small portion of rice. My 8 year old son had an enchilada and was still hungry after eating it. My husband had the Chile Verde burrito. As stated in another review, the burrito was(small) stuffed with pork and then covered in a jarred green sauce — not a true Chile verde. The cost for our family of 4 was over 40 $ including tip and we left hungry. This may be a favorite of the locals, but for the money it sure didn’t impress us out of towners.

Wow. Wow. Wow. So here’s my background: I was born and raised in Central Texas and I married a Hispanic girl from El Paso. We like great tex-mex and LOVE great Mexican food. Taco Taco delivers the absolute best Mexican food we have had in Utah. From the appetite piquing, house-made salsa to the ideally sweet-but-not-too-sweet horchata to our dinners — everything had us oohing and yumming. I had my favorite dish that I gauge all new Mexican spots on — enchilada suizas de pollo with a couple of tacos Mexicanas(aka«tacos» to those that know true Mexican food) on the side. The better half had combo #2, which came with one enchilada, a taco, rice and beans. Enchiladas earned an A. Couldn’t ask for better this far from the border. The tacos were just how we like them — anyone whose had real tacos know they should come on two corn tortillas with cilantro and onions. Lime on the side… no greasy lettuce, rubber cheese, or Doritos powder. tacos. I had chicken and she had carne asada. Neither disappointed. They’re a steal at $ 1.95 a pair, too. Rice and beans were as good as they come… even drew comparisons to «mom’s» from my wife. We’re done looking for a taste of home. Thanks for trying to the nominees but we have our winner. Superb!

Food was very good, homemade chips and salsa, flautas, tacos, and enchilada suizas were all excellent. Service great. Restaurant has been there a long time and looks a little cluttered and sketchy. Having said that the table areas were clean and it wasn’t sticky, gross or uncomfortable. Just not quite 4 star location. Food and staff are definitely 4 stars!

The bad: Had the Chili Verde its not real if you don’t actually cook the meat in the sauce… And I could forgive that if the sauce tasted good, but you can get better Verde Sauce out of a jar. Basically it was warmed up pork with a bad jar based(my guess) verde poured over the top. Guacamole had a horrible flavor as it was way past its expiration date… It left oil residue on the plate as the oils were seperating from it, not good at all. The good: Ray seemed like a cool guy, $ 4 modelo/tecate tallboys, the pico de gallo. Only had one meal here so I can’t comment on the rest of the menu.

Favorite Mexican in Utah! AMAZING chips & Salsa! I recommend the enchilada suizas. I always forget about this place and every time I come here I vow to come here once a month. It is definitely worth a stop.

This is authentic Mexican food, not Tex-Mex or some Americanized chain restaurant. It’s not Chilies(Thank-God!) as some idiot who has probably never been outside of Utah County posted in their negative review. The food is simple, tasty and plentiful. The atmosphere is similar; simple and laid back. I usually get the Chili Verde and my son loves the enchilada suizas. They even have dishes that my vegetarian daughter can eat. If you don’t know and love authentic Mexican food, you may or may not like it. If you appreciate good authentic Mexican, you’ll love it. If you think Chili’s is Mexican food, you have no credibility… be gone with you!

While visiting Ogden my wife’s Uncle raved about this place. The server was very friendly and the menu had a nice selection. The chips and salsa were great. We ordered more because there were hardly any chips in the first basket. My wife ordered the enchiladas suizas. I got the carne asada burrito. The burrito looked good but the meat was not seasoned at all. My wives enchiladas were ok. The biggest surprise is we were charged for the extra chips. Usually they are complimentary or free with entrees. The food wasn’t worth the price in my opinion. Don’t wait around for your check either. You have to walk up to the register and have them find it. It would have been nice if someone told us that instead of us waiting around for 15min. If you’re looking for great mexican food skip this place.

Let’s start out with the positives: attentive, friendly service, local business. And that’s where it stops. $ 30 lunch for two should be fabulous in Ogden. This wasn’t. We had a chili relleno and the shrimp enchiladas. I did deviate from my standard of two tacos but was so optimistic that it would be a local gem that this is very disappointing. Only mediocre food.

Oh my goodness — what a gem! The only thing close to Mexican we’ve had since we’ve been back in Ogden is the Sonora Grill. This is REAL Mexican food — and FAST! We gave our order and not a couple of minutes later(literally) my burrito was on the table in front of me. My husband remarked that it was the most meat he’s ever had stuffed into a chimichanga ever! My burrito was superb — lots of meat, and the perfect amount of rice and beans. We’ll be back.
