It was a rather positive experience. Compared to what’s around, this is the best bet. It’s clean, updated and friendly. They have decent wi-fi(20 down and 6 up), flat screen TVs and a decent breakfast. They price matched the website too, so that was nice. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re in the area and need a place to stay. I stayed in the winter, but I can image how nice it is in the spring/summer time. It’s true about the phones, they will automatically switch over to rogers.

I agree with Toby H: be prepared to turn off your cell phone for the duration of your stay unless you want to pay to make calls from where they think is Canada. I also have a Canadian cell phone, and it knew I was in the States, so that wasn’t an alternative. Anyways, as to the rest of the experience, it was pretty middle-of-the-road. I wasn’t in town to see sights, so perhaps I would have been more impressed by the hotel if that had been the case. I do appreciate that they obviously were putting people in the rooms that have the best view of the river, though this was not something that I was overly concerned about. I was in town to take the GRE, and the hotel had what I wanted(quiet, my cat could come and help me feel sorry for myself, and there was food nearby). I was confused by the rogue appliance in the bathroom and couldn’t tell which of the heating/cooling implements the sign requesting that I not use the air conditioning referred to, but I was there at a time when the weather outside made for perfect sleeping conditions so it didn’t really matter. I will say that I had a LOT of trouble finding the hotel. I probably looked for about 45 minutes. The address on their website basically sent me to the Walmart near the bridge to Canada and I don’t think the other addresses I found would have gotten me there had the hotel been anywhere with lots of roads or hotels. So plan ahead for directions(i.e. don’t rely on your GPS) if you don’t already know where you’re going.

We decided to go to the Grandview, spend the night and have dinner there just for a good inexpensive get-a-way– We were thrilled we did! The service was excellent although our waitress told us and overheard her tell another table a couple things«she did not like or care for on the menu» Which was not really appropriate nor did we feel the same way… but some of her other suggestions were very good. For one order the Louis Martini wine… we opted for the more expensive bottle and it sure was not as good as the sample she gave me… Anyhow we got great homemade dressings with a nice salad… I had prime rib… it was perfect but the meat was mealy… not their fault… My baked potato was perfect! Havent had that in ages– veggies perfect. Hubbie had chicken cordon bleu… which was unreal… so good… highly recommend! I really enjoyed this place and the desserts are homemade too. Inside has been remodeled and clean and classy! I will return!

arrived at 10pm to a clean and comfortable room. Beautiful setting and overlooking the St. Lawrence. Very nice complementary breakfast.

Make sure you contact your cell service provider. When staying here, you are so close to Canada that you automatically connect to ROGERS and you will be billed roaming charges. Call AT&T or whoever you use and let them know you are still in America and they will put a notice on your account to drop all the extra charges! The view is awesome of the Saint Lawrence River/Seaway. Huge lawn area that goes right up to the water. You basically drive up to the door of your room. Its that type of hotel. Wasn’t here long so can’t review it all. But in the rooms the power outlet arrangement suck. There is only one behind bed, but it’s full with light and clock. Their is one on the light on the desk, BUT, this only works when the light is on.(Poor design) Their is one on the other side of one of the beds. In my case I wanted Yo use my computer plugged in. Had to unplug stuff, move clock. Maybe I’ll start traveling with an extension cord!
