One must try their mussels. Manager was super nice.

What a surprising find! I was truly not expecting such a tasty Italian place in ogunquit Maine. The food was excellent and service was fantastic. I’d saw on par with north end or providence. The menu was on the smaller side but oh so delicious. I loved the risotto with mushrooms sausage peas and cream. I would go back in a minute and have seconds!

Eh… being from Providence my expectations for Italian food are pretty high, so altough nothing was repulsive it was just such a basic menu and food items I didn’t feel inclined to want to go back. I imagine it gets a lot of business because it does have a nice outdoor patio area and its on the main drag in Ogunquit. The bathroom was FILTHY when I used it, and there’s a gelato counter in there so I felt there was an identity crisis… was it a sit down or was it a casual café? I got the meatball sandwich and it was sliced meatball and the meat to everything else ratio was a little low on the meat end. We also had the Italian Wedding Soup — and again — my grandmother’s will always be superior — but it was heavy on the salt with chopped up meatballs(not what I’m used to). You’ll probably have a solid enough meal here to satisfy you, but I wouldn’t specifically seek it out.

After two days of lobster and clam chowder we needed a change and this was the perfect choice. Great service, reasonable prices. We shared a salad and pizza and it was delicious and just enough. Will definitely return when we are in Ogunquit.

Food was just okay. Portions were mediocre. Waited a very long time for food to come out. Staff was very pleasant though. Definitely doesn’t seem authentic Italian.

Great service. Our waitress was pleasant and very attentive. Fresh salad of greens, golden roasted beets and misc veggies. Minestrone soup was very good. Basic pizza with meatballs and plum tomato. Recommend this place if you are with someone who likes basic food as you can both be satisfied.

Good job! Waitress was terrific, full of energy and consideration and everyone that worked there seem to be part of a fine team, helping each other out. We noticed that and we liked it-appreciated it. I ordered a salad and panini. The chicken was the real deal-not deli chicken, real chicken breast that would have been baked in the oven and the turkey was the same. Even the lettuce in the salads was top rate –not just iceberg lettuce –nice green Romaine and other types. I was impressed. The only thing I personally didn’t like was the piano music. I know he was trying his best, but I didn’t find that music relaxing and we moved our table and I noticed the people who sat at it after we left also moved. It could’ve just been that it was too loud sitting next to the music but my preference is to have melodious music that’s calming or happy-this was just kind of disjointed and annoying and pounded away.

We had a birthday dinner for my 9 yr old grandson. We ordered a variety and loved all. The child’s tenders & fries were amazing. Salad of the day was perfect, loved everything. Best part was the owner singing«Happy Birthday in Italian — my grandson was beaming! Then he got a big piece of chocolate cake. A beautiful night– our new favorite place!

Anyone who says this is true Italian food is out of their mind. The pizzas are made with pre-made crusts.(the kind you get two to a package for $ 5 in the supermarket) They literally are perfectly round circles which have the little holes in them! I think they call them ‘Boboli’ or something in the supermarket. To call these ‘brick oven pizzas’ is an insult to pizza. We thought at first we were given a gluten free crust by mistake but the waiter said that it was the original crust. The atmosphere is nice and that is the only reason I’m giving 3 stars. The people we were dining from come from Italy and they looked puzzled and said, ‘This pizza is made with a giant cracker?’ My dining companion said that it was more of a ‘flatbread’ than a pizza. I absolutely cannot understand how anyone would consider this to be good pizza … instead of using the hand made mozzarella cheese or Buffalo mozzarella … it is the cheaper hard ‘stick’ mozzarella which is cut into slices and placed on the pizza. We ordered the Margarita Pizza, The Fig and Prosciutto Pizza and the spaghetti and meatballs. The Margarita was not memorable(except for the giant cracker as a crust) … The Fig pizza was basically a pizza with dried figs which tasted like big raisins(way too sweet), pesto sauce which was the best part of the pizza, and what seemed like supermarket ham crumbled onto it. Prosciutto, I don’t know about … seemed like Cold Cut ham to me. The Fig pizza was a whiff. Everyone thought it tasted like eating a ‘candy pizza’ as the sweetness of the dried figs(not fresh) completely overpowered the dish. There also was no balsamic drizzle. The spaghetti and meatballs was about the only decent dish we had but honestly, it tasted like any other Italian restaurant. The atmosphere is good here … they have white lights, lots of pine trees and orange everywhere, which is a traditional Italian color for restaurants. They were playing cheesy American-ized Italian music like Dean Martin and those ‘Music of Italy’ compact discs that you get at the dollar store. However, oddly it did feel like a tourist restaurant in Italy which was transported into the middle of Ogunquit. Authentic … no. Touristy … yes. But the outdoor dining was welcome. Don’t go here expecting fresh pizza or authentic Italian cuisine. Go here for a touristy Italian experience and for a meal that will be remembered more for the atmosphere and the conversation than the food. I can’t believe I am giving a place that uses pre-made pizza cracker crusts and then calls them Brick Oven pizzas 3 stars … but it was a nice meal for the surroundings.

This restaurant is an oasis of pleasant food in a sea of crappy eateries in Ogunquit. Fair prices, good food, fun and kid-friendly atmosphere. I had the chicken Parmesan, it was very good. They have a full gelato bar in-house so the kids were able to entertain themselves looking and planning their dessert selection while we waited for our entrees. Server was very patient with our party of 6 with lots of kid management and inefficient ordering. I come to Ogunquit every year and i was beginning to think there was nowhere to have s good meal at a fair price. This is your only option for that!

Caffe Preggo is excellent! The service was great, really on top of everything and kept everything moving quickly. The menu was excellent, with a wide variety of apps, entrees, pizzas, etc. Pretty much anyone could find something they like here. We had the chilled mango pineapple soup and the creamy Italian onion soup, both of which were excellent. We then had the Angola pizza(lobster) and the fig and prosciutto pizza. Everything was great. The only reason i give this 4 stars is that I’ve had better pizza. The atmosphere was really nice – definitely sit outside! Great prices. Also they don’t take reservations, but if there’s a wait they’ll put your name down on a list and then text you when your table is ready so you can walk around in the mean time and not have to carry a buzzer!

This was the best place we are at in Ogunquit. We shared a bowl of the minestrone soup for starters. It was delicious. Very fresh tasting and perfectly seasoned. My wife then had the caprese salad, everything was very fresh and she loved it. I had the lobster ravioli and it was great as well. The portion was a little small for $ 23 but it tasted fantastic.

I can not speak to the food. The pastries and other desserts looked great! We stopped in for cold beverages after walking along the beach. We ordered two iced coffees but the counter help could not understand us so we finally ordered two Italian ice drinks. The flavors from the menu were not all available so we settled on one watermelon and one lemon beverage. We were served two watermelon drinks after numerous confirmations that I wanted one watermelon one lemon. The staff standing around did nothing to help close the language barrier which was very frustrating! The drinks were also awful!!! They had about 3x the syrup they should have had and were not consumable. We literally threw them away after gagging down two sips. To add injury to insult the price for was $ 12 for two medium non alcoholic drinks. I do not recommend this place for a quick beverage even though they advertise espresso, cappuccino and many other specialty drinks on the signage. It was over priced, not consumable and the staff didn’t understand English at all. those that did in spite of being nearby chatting just stood there witnessing my misery.

Wonderful restaurant for Italian cuisine. Fast, friendly service. Live music. Excellent outdoor patio seating with air conditioning. Menu features quickie choices like panini and other sandwiches. Pizza seemed really popular there. They had some excellent pricer entrees both traditional and eclectic. I ordered the chilled watermelon soup with fresh raspberries and blueberries. DIVINE!!! What an excellent Summer appetizer. For my main course I chose the eggplant ricotta sandwich. My companion chose the meatball sandwich with the spinach/fig/blueberry/avocado salad. Everything was delicious. We had room enough for dessert so we joined everyone else in ordering the homemade gelato.(They have over 27 flavors!). They give you samples to help you choose. Excellent, excellent experience. Go! Now.

Worth the wait if you time it well. I tried the watermelon soup with blueberries and a hint of mint, a great taste of Summer. Spinach salad with figs, blue cheese and blueberries was tasty. Pizzas and pastas looked impressive. Our server Hanna was super-friendly and made the right suggestions.

We were there around 2pm on a Monday. Service was good but it wasn’t busy. Food was good. I had the sausage pizza with olives(asked for black and they were kalamata) tomato and mushrooms. I would’ve preferred crumbled sausage but the pizza was fine. Great crust.

The service could not be more friendly and accommodating here. Everyone smiling, welcoming, and those little things stick out when I reflect on our experience having lunches and dinners at Café Prego. On our most recent visit, the caprese was perfect; nicely ripened tomatoes with just a little bite, rich mozzarella and fresh basil. The bruschetta modi crostini was served just as fresh with 8 pieces including marinated artichoke hearts, mushrooms, Vidalia onions, tomato confit and pancetta. On a chilly, overcast Spring day, they make sure everyone on the deck has the warmth of a small heater. Nice touch. Can’t wait for our next visit back!

Première visite au café Prégo(juin 2012). Nourriture excellente, typiquement italienne.
