Very nice trail, it can be steep… it’s mainly all uphill. I hiked it with my boyfriend but we stopped once at the first overlook and came back down due time but it continues on, I’m not sure for how long but the first leg was a bit strenuous. Also, if you’re allergic to bees then beware! There are bees everywhere, they didn’t bother us but you never know. I also don’t recommend doing this hike after any recent rain it can get slippery. The views were nice and parking is across the street of trail head in gravel.

Make sure you keep your eyes peeled for the start of this trail — right off the road! The parking is next to a sign with the latitude and longitude coordinates and the path starts just across the street — luckily someone was coming down and directed us where to go). Very beautiful hike! Countless scenic views of the verdant mountains and valleys! There is a lot of shade and ample opportunities to increase the difficulty level or take it at your own pace and turn around when you are ready. Excellent way to see the nature of Ojai!

We took a hike this morning on the trail. It goes up all the way for 30 to 40 minutes. It was hard for me because I have a hard time going up with no flat areas in between to catch your breath. Yes, rocky in the beginning, then dirt. I was told not to do it after rain, wait three days or so because of all the very sticky mud. A lot of shade in the beginning, then sunny. I would call it moderate. If you are strong and have good knees and good heart then very good. You can do it with no problem. Take plenty of water, you will need it.

This is a great moderate day hike in Ojai. The trail is approximately 3 miles long, but there are various connecting trails so your journey can be longer if you choose to be. We drove up from Los Angeles the same day and this was a perfect hike for us. Drive north on Highway 33 approximately one mile north of Cozy Ojai Rd. Keep a look out on your left hand side for a brown trailhead post. Parking is next to the post in a small outlet. Cross the street and the trail entrance begins right across from the parking lot. The trail is a bit rocky at first with a few switchbacks as you make your way up. The trail is beautiful and you will see various horse footsteps along the way. Once you reach the top you can choose to the do the Cozy Dell Loop, although watch out for the side trails and bring a map. We were not able to find the loop back, so we decided to turn around and go back. Other then that this is fantastic day hike. Make sure to stop by at Friend’s Ranches for some awesome oranges and other fantastic products! Beautiful vista views. Great day hike!
