I’ve been going to do the Jolly cone for over 35 years. Today I had a pastrami sandwich it was really good. It’s hard to get a good pastrami sandwich around here anymore. But the Jolly cone does it right!

Not the same ever since they got a new manager. Over priced, rude employees, and having to wait a long time just to order something.

Ive been eating here since I was a child, although owners have changed since then, most of the original food has stayed pretty consistent. The only differences to my usuals are the fried zucchini is not as great, and I feel like there is something different about the fries, still good though. But they continue to nail it with the corn burritos! Highly recommend. I’m sure if you ask anyone in town what the best item is there and corn burritos seems to be the favorite, no place does it as great. I recently tired the boba tea, also awesome. & the soft served ice cream & shakes go good with the burgers. I also really enjoy the outside seating. The area is always kept clean & a nice place to people watch.

I am so happy Jolly Kone is back to what it used to be! I had a great experience with the customer service. I read the reviews below and at first was very hesitant, quickly I realized that the people that work there at JK are just doing the best they can. Excellent service excellent food!!! Their taco salads are the freshest and the hamburgers! Yum!!! Corn burritos next time! I will be back as much as possible! Good job Jolly Kone! As for closing early on Sunday’s, who wouldn’t want to get out at a decent time? Starting the closing procedures at 3:40 to be out by 4 is reasonable to me. See you soon Jolly Kone!!!

I grew up in Ojai right down the street from Jolly Kone. I have always loved their food and have been a regular customer for over 15 years. I have moved away now but I always come back to Jolly Kone when I am in town to visit family and friends. I checked the website this morning to see hours and was thrilled to see that they are open until 7pm. I drove to Jolly Kone on a hot Sunday, excited for my corn burritos and snow cone. When I got there, it was 3:50 and I was surprised that it took a full 5 minutes of standing at the window before anyone acknowledged me. A very rude woman yelled over her shoulder«we’re closed!!!» And when I said«really?» in a perplexed tone, she got even more rude and said«yeaaaahhhh, we close at 3:40 every Sunday» as if I was a total idiot for not knowing this. Meanwhile there were people all around still waiting for their food to be prepared and called out. How hard would it have been to throw a couple of corn burritos in the deep fryer for a loyal customer who lives 4 hours away now and just wanted a bite to eat? Not only is 3:40 a ridiculous(and I’m pretty sure made up by an employee who couldn’t bother to cook a meal for someone 20 minutes before closing) time to close a business, it should be clearly marked on their website when they close instead of creating angry, hungry customers. I love the food at Jolly Kone but I will never be back. All the locals that I have talked to have stopped going due to hiked prices and rude employees. I was one of the few Jolly Kone die hard fans but not anymore. To the extremely rude employee who I spoke with on 7⁄12 at 3:50-it’s called customer service, you should try it some time. I hope your bosses fire you so that I can come back to Jolly Kone in the future. For now, me and the family will be frequenting the(old) «new» Ojai Frosty.

I love jolly kone and have a lot of nostalgia for it since I have been eating there since I was 5. Love the corn burritos and the bacon cheeseburger!

Be warned during closing time. We showed up at 6:45 and were told they close at 6:40 every night. Strange! Says they close at 7:00 online.

Been coming here since I was a kid and even now that I live out of town, whenever I’m in town I stop by for my 2 orders of corn burritos. Soooooo good, something about the cheese and their red sauce it just sings!

I went there 3 times. The first 2 times, they screwed up my order. The 3rd time I went for a soft serve and the machine was broken. I also know that they don’t take taxes out of checks and they dont have employees sign W-4 forms. Steer clear of this place.

Jolly Kone in a tradition in our family. This eatery has gone through several different owners, but one thing has always remained the same, the menu. If I have to nitpick about anything, it would be their fountain drinks, they’ve always been atrocious as they are weak tasting with little to not carbonation. The other thing would be the soft serve ice cream comes out yellow and rather grainy. Now on to what I love about Jolly Kone Corn Burritos were the food of kings when I was growing up and summertime would not be the same without a weekly trip up to Meiners Oaks to get these tasty treats. Everyone has their preferences in how they are prepared some enjoy the cheese and hot sauce route, but our family preferred them topped with Cheese and ketchup. They also have a killer Avocado Bacon Burger that is killer good, but I just can’t help myself I always order my corn burritos because they are hard to find in Ventura County. In fact I emphasized the need for Corn Burritos to my friend who is running a snack bar at her kids baseball park. I might need help. lol.

I love Jolly Kone. I have been going to Jolly Kone for over 30 years– once in a while. Yes, they have changed a little over the years, and have gone through different owners, but it’s a fine little independent fast food joint. Recently I went there and had the Corn Burritos. They are pretty much like how they were when I was a kid if I ask for a little extra sauce. Since I am polite and grateful, the workers there are pleasant back to me. I have also recently had the fish sandwich which was yummy too– crispy, hot fish, soft bun, fresh lettuce and tomato. It’s a cheap fast food place, so it’s gonna be greasy, and the service might not be worthy of some award all the time, but it’s great for what it is.

A friend who recommended Jolly Kone in the past told me that, after changing hands, the service here has gone down hill. He’s right. The people behind the counter were more interested in visiting with co workers behind them than making sure the soft drink I ordered was served up. The server moved on the next in line and I had to ask for my drink. Amazing that a simple transaction can be ruined by a negligent, obviously uncaring attitude.

One word sums it up… grease And stale grease to boot. Used to be pretty good about 15 years ago. These are NOT great burgers or fries & I agree with Aaron O, the burgers are mediocre at best. Taquitos weren’t even drained and all greasy. Kitchen person was texting and on cell phone while frying! Picked up the taquito and it was dripping! ewwwwww. Lol… they are not very friendly either. Need to drain their fried foods better and change the oil more often.

I found the hamburger I ordered to be of average quality and way overpriced. Also, there are no customer restrooms. Cannot recommend for travelers.

Great burgers and fries, and world famous corn burritos. I always have a great meal when I eat at Jolly Kone. Great outdoor seating, shaded. The only drawback for me is they only take cash. Fun and casual neighborhood eatery at the intersection in Meiners Oaks. I’ve been eating here since I was a kid and I’ll keep coming back.

I kept hearing that Jolly Kone’s corn burritos are good. Just went there and they are excellent. The sauce is delicious with just a little kick that lingers. Definitely a thumbs up.

Since I wrote the previous review, the service and the food has gone downhill. The burgers have beef patties that are cut so thin like it was a piece of sushi. They shower the burger with thick lettuce, tomatoes and onions, but if you can’t taste the burger, what’s the point in ordering one? The last few times I went to Jolly Kone, the burgers were totally crispy and deprived of taste. I was biting into what appeared to be a head of lettuce with some mustard sprinkled on it. For the same price, you could go to the Carrows nearby and get a larger, fresher burger. The milk shakes now taste like vanilla-flavored baby formula, and the only thing decent there is the fries. Jolly Kone is definitely not what it used to be, but don’t tell the owner that. She’s fairly rude.

My boyfriend is from Ojai and has raved about Jolly Kone. I finally tried it, and it was delicious. I ordered the bacon avocado burger. I’ve never had avocado on a burger before, and it was indeed a great decision. The creaminess of the avocado was perfect with the very fresh tasting onions, lettuce, and tomatoes. The bacon was crunchy, and the tasty patty was the right thickness. The burger had that homemade flavor like something you would get at a family barbecue. The fries and onions rings were very good too. There are free refills. It’s a little place and I believe it’s cash only. The prices are reasonable since everything is made to order and hot.

This place has been here forever! It is a small building stand on a corner with some outside seating/It used to be a hole in the wall but has gotten nicer. Last time I was there I got corn burritos but they are not as good as others because they use jack cheese as the topping. They are a good stop for fast food.
