This is a wonderful soup and sandwich restaurant. Their desserts are absolutely amazing. My wife has thrown multiple baby shower’s here, as well. You should definitely talk to them before throwing your next event.

Reuben panini was EXCELLENT. I thought the service and everything was great and I come from a family of Resturant owners. If you need a quick lunch or just authentic sandwich and soup type place this one is Amazing! Go here!

Decided to try Nutmegs today. When you walk in the restaurant is clean. We sat down and we’re not greeted by anyone. We didn’t know if a waiter would take our order or if we needed to order at the counter. We ordered at the counter and a staff delivered it to our table. I ordered the pear and bacon salad. My husband ordered the Cuban sandwich. I was very disappointed with my salad. They pear was canned pear and there wasn’t even half of a canned pear sliced on the salad. The salad description said it would have fruit on it and to my disappointment the fruit was 5 grapes. The mixed lettuce had a lot of brown ends so I had to pick out the bad pieces which was about half of the lettuce. The raspberry vinaigrette was very strong, over powering and did not taste like a raspberry vinaigrette at all. My husband was very disappointed in the Cuban sandwich which was their take of a Cuban on white bread. Being raised in south Florida I was disappointed too. Needless to say, even with eating a quarter of the sandwich, I left Nutmegs hungry. The $ 23 for our meal and 2 drinks was over priced. I doubt we will return.

Passing through Okeechobee and stopped here for lunch. It was delicious. Eat local, eat homemade food, eat here. The Tuscan Soup was outstanding as were the panini sandwiches. You won’t be disappointed.

Places like this are why I Unilocal. We were driving through the area, and needed a place for lunch. I would never have found or picked this place out by myself, but so glad we found it. My sundried tomato and chicken quiche was delicious, and the avocado Greek dressing was so good I ate the side salad(which is saying a lot for me!). Kids grilled cheese and ham and cheese were eaten quickly, and hubby’s ham and pear panini was really tasty. Cupcakes were AMAZING, especially the creamsicle and raspberry filled :) Cute place, would definitely recommend and return if I was in the area again!

We were looking for a place to eat in Okeechobee while we traversed the state — so happy that we found Nutmeg’s! I had the Italian panini(salami, ham, pepperoni, fresh mozzarella, and basil mayo on homemade foccaccia), which was delish. Hubby had a reuben which was equally as good. We’re back in the car with homemade red velvet cake balls!

Every once in a while Unilocal and I combine to form a perfect union. It doesn’t always work this well. While driving across state highway 70 between Florida’s gulf and Atlantic coasts i needed to stop for gas and lunch with the family. After I got gas I checked Unilocal for a local lunch stop. Selected Nutmeg’s and so glad I did. A charming little, locally-owned, sandwich shop and bakery with some interesting soups, salads, paninis and sandwiches. My kids are finicky eaters and they even enjoyed their selections. My SO and I were thoroughly satisfied as well. A really nice and casual lunch in an eclectically decorated little joint right off the main highway. A truly enjoyable lunch. Just what we were looking for. You order at a counter and they bring the food to your table. Friendly service in a very clean environment. Thank you Meg for a very enjoyable experience. Open late morning through early evening, about 7:00 pm. Not really a dinner stop but an absolutely perfect lunch stop. We will be back to explore the other menu options.

Nutmeg’s serves a variety of unique paninis. I tried the Ham & Pear Crisp Sandwich based on a recommendation from one of the servers. The sandwich was ok. The texture of the sandwich was similar to that of eating an apple pie but the pear slices did not have much flavor or the sweetness that I was expecting. The ham was of ok quality and the bread was toasty. Overall, this sandwich shop seems to have a lot of good ideas but has room for improvement.

If you’re in Okeechobee and want to have experience a simple but flavorful lunch, head over to Nutmeg’s Café! I stopped in after having read the rave reviews about the sandwiches and the cupcakes! I decided to try out the Cuban Club and I was not disappointed. This sandwich is a twist on the Cuban classic and it’s made with the usual ingredients but it’s served on white bread and made into a club sandwich. The pork which is the star of a Cuban was moist and had good flavor. They have many sides to choose from and I chose the potato salad which was creamy and fresh. The cupcakes are excellent! The owner was busy when I came in preparing the dough for the cupcakes, it seems they sell a lot of cupcakes here. The frosting was rich but not overly sweet which always hits the spot. The actual cake was moist and lived up to its reputation. The frosting on some of the cupcakes were shaped to look like flowers which is a nice touch. The interior of Nutmeg’s is quite spacious, you can easily fit 50 people in comfortably. The décor is a bit unusual but it looks homey with all the non matching tables and chairs. I’m all for unique places that serve up homecooked meals from the heart. Unfortunately I don’t make it to Okeechobee much but next time I’m there, I’m heading to Nutmeg’s!

Walking in the café is reminiscent of a quaint, trendy NY café. The shabby chic décor is very stylish and relaxing. I have eaten here quite a few times and the cakeballs and cupcakes are by far the best I have ever eaten. I have also enjoyed lunch on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed. The beet salad is delicious. But whatever you do, do not walk away without dessert!

In an area of fast foods and fried foods, this was a refreshing change from the norm. We had the Cabbage Soup and the Tuscan Soup along with a Muffaletta sandwich. Excellent food and service. Very plesent atmosphere. We will be back again.

Chorizo burger is the bomb. Though I am not a fan of fruit in chicken salad, it was equally amazing. Great service, kind staff, and good prices. Reminds me of the English tea room in Wake Forest which was a highlight for our family.

The food at Nutmegs is delicious. I love their chicken salad sandwich. It comes on a croissant and tastes so fresh! I also have tried the tuna salad melt which was full of flavor… the bread had just the right amount of crunch to it! The only reason I didn’t give this restaurant all five stars is because of the décor. I think they tried to make it look«shabby chic», but really it just looks like they picked up things at a yard sale. The chairs are sadly rickety and uncomfortable. I also find that the place lacks overall«coziness». Many people like to get take out from Nutmegs.

This is a comfortable restaurant. I have eaten here twice and was pleased both times. I had a good Reuben last week and a good Cuban today. Also, the soups are good. Good split pea today. I will eat here again.
