My wife and i hated this place. Bad service the food was bad and made me sick. Took forever for fast food. I hate rating chains but this one needed it.

Closed. The building is now a Swadleys BBQ. About the same time an A & W split opened up around S Western and the 7800 block.

Didn’t know there were any A&W’s left. The root beer here tasted sticky like it had high fructose corn syrup in it. Not anything like the fresh locally brewed ones in California in times past.

When I was five I was really ill and had to have blood taken weekly at a nearby hospital to monitor the severity of said illness. The first time I was to have this soon-to-be weekly visit I was nervous so my mom decided to «treat» me to A & W. I remember having a hot dog, tator tots, and a root beer in a frosted mug(glass mind you) in my mom’s white Thunderbird. It was perfect. However, a little over an hour later my first phlebotomist was wearing it. I think we all learned a lesson that day. Basically, I don’t know if this A dub is still good, in fact, I’m surprised it’s still there, but it gets a five for the memories. Plus it’s just down the road from my grandpa’s old Tabco store. Ah sweet, sweet nostalgia…
