Great find! I had drive past this place a couple times and wasn’t sure what it was but I am sure glad I found out! Kinda small because it’s in a shipping container but it was really cool inside. I got the special that day witch was like a wild boar corn dog. AMAZING!!! They also had a pretty good drink special that day. Great sections of food and drink.

I went here for a late night snack and got their vegan dogs with chips(all their dogs automatically come with chips). I LOVED the vegan dogs. I wasn’t a huge fan of the chips, and would have preferred fries or just more dogs(they are fairly small corndogs). There were just a few people in the place when I was there so it was pretty quiet, cute, and the staff was friendly. I love the building too. would definitely go back.

I’ve been here several times and have always had a great experience. The staff is great and the food is so good! You have to get the hush pups– order both! You won’t be disappointed. The mega coney, wild dog and roger dog are my favorites. Bonus they have my favorite beer on tap — Kronenbourg 1663 blanc!

Anchor Down is a great little neighborhood bar! I love the atmosphere inside, the ambiance outside at night and the barstaff are incredibly friendly! I also love that they’ve altered their menu a bit since opening to include healthier options like really great salads. I love me some corn dogs, but my body doesn’t love them as much as I do! It’s a great place to meet up with friends, make new ones and catch a Thunder game!

I’m picky about corn dogs. Like, I used to only eat them from the State Fair picky. I can’t stand frozen corn dogs from the microwave simply because they always end up soggy. I knew the corn dogs at AD would have to be great because The Mule is so great. I wasn’t wrong! They carefully craft each of these incredibly fresh and flavorful corn dogs. There are several varieties to try, and they always have a special dog as well. I’d recommend getting two, whether it be two of the same or different. One just isn’t enough. Something else that I really enjoy here is their onion dip. I can’t put my finger on what makes it so delicious, but it is creamy onion-y goodness. This space isn’t huge, but the patio is nice. I haven’t been late night yet, but I imagine it must be packed. AD, I think you’re here to stay!

Fantastic location for an outdoor drink on a nice day. The menu is a little limited but perfect if you like gourmet dogs.

Corn dogs and craft beer? What more can I say??? Heaven! Actually there is a lot more that is offered… Beer cocktails for one. And I had the Mega Coney: house chili, mustard, onions all over a giant beef dog. What an awesome place!

Anchor Down is quickly becoming my favorite bar, because it is apparent the employees love being there and love working for the owners(who also own The Mule in the Plaza District). It is a small, very small space, so not many seats, but if you can find a spot at the bar, you have lucked out. The bar tenders are fun, friendly and full of personality. More importantly, they are knowledgable about the cocktails, as they all have a unique touch of flavors on classics. During my time, two different bar tenders were on staff during our stay. They both took the time to talk to us, explain the drinks, offer suggestions and why. I started with their play on the old fashioned and I was skeptical, very very skeptical, because it has jam in it and I just am not a huge fan of overly sweet or sticky things, but they assured me it would be good and if I didn’t like it, they wanted me to let them know. I was pleasantly surprised at the balance of flavors. Next, I wanted to try their other bourbon cocktail, Meg, assured me it is her favorite cocktail and it is very well balanced, as it has ginger ale in it.(I don’t drink soft drinks or sugary drinks usually. I tend to prefer a ginger beer of an ale.) Again, balance of sweetness, bourbon flavor, spice of the ginger was spot on. Last, I wanted to try what I call my summer cocktail — Since I discovered Deep Eddy’s Grapefruit Vodka, it has been a summertime staple. — It was their play on a club special, with muddled jalapeño! Yes, a nice amount of heat to get those endorphins flowing. I would recommend any of these three cocktails, unfortunately, I do not remember the names of the cocktails, but I can find them on the menu, and will update the post, when I look them up. We also tried the hushpuppies, don’t be alarmed they are not undercooked, there is cheese in them! Surprise, and yum. Obviously, you cannot go wrong with house-made potato chips. We also tried the coney, to me, it was just a coney, just giant, as in those hotdogs must be special made, because they were fat. They are all beef and so is the chili for those who cannot eat pork. I probably would not order it again, but then again, I only eat coneys when in NYC, because you have to, not because I like them, but you have to eat a coney in NYC. Try something new, and build up the business around Deep Deuce, I am looking forward to seeing all of the businesses going in the area. I am sure it will become a regular hang-out district for me.

Wahahawow. If you’re looking to grow your corn dog repertoire beyond the sham that is a frozen state fair corn dog, look no further. My only complaint– the queso needs just a lil extra sumsum.

Craving a corn dog? Only place to get it is Anchor Down! It’s THEBEST. I’m a state fair corn dog person myself, but after this experience — nope, no more. That stuff is lame. I love the location first of all — if you’re visiting OKC for the first time, skip that Bricktown trash(ah! sorry!) and go here instead. You’ll get a great view of downtown and be in a really cool spot. The menu is short, the location is somewhat small — but the corn dogs are worth it. If you’re not a corn dog person, I believe there are one or two other options, but they are slim. Drinks are great too :)

Sorry, guys, but I’m just not diggin’ your dog. The good news? These guys are open until 2AM, so you can count on this place if you live nearby and find that stumbling two miles to Empire Slice after a solid night of partying seems to be too daunting of a task.(And really, what could be better than fried food for fourth meal? Like… almost nothing.) The space itself is pretty cool. It’s an industrial feel without being too sterile or harsh, and the seat was comfy. Bathroom was super clean too! If you are a fan of chillin’ and dranks, this would be a nice local place to come grab one if you live nearby. There are a few tvs, which are perfect for football season. The music was a little ratchet for my taste at 9:30PM though… a solid 15 minutes of Fetty Wap didn’t make me want to stay here, but hey– you can’t please everybody! And finally… Onto the foooooood… Got the beef corn dog with chips, and like any health-conscious American concerned about weight gain, I ordered a Diet Coke to wash it down. The good: the actual hotdog itself is yum, and it was served piping hot! The meh: — The batter is too dense. I didn’t really enjoy it. — Mustard drizzle is so thin that you couldn’t even taste that there’s any on there. This gourmet mustard must be made of baby seal’s tears for how little you get.(In all fairness, I would recommend you ask for more if you like mustard.) — Chips were greasy and sorta confused me– some were stale while others were crisp. It woulda been a nice touch if chips were kept warm under a heating lamp. I ate four and called it a day. You can open a tab or pay up front. A beef corn dog with chips was $ 7, and my total was $ 9 with the Diet Coke. Throw a $ 2 tip on there, and I can’t really justify having spent $ 11 on what I ate since it was just okay. A cool space for a drink, but for the food? It’s not my jam.

Corndogs will never be the same. I love corn dogs so much, and I’ve always kind of been of the mind that there’s no such thing as a bad corn dog. Never met a corn dog I didn’t like, in fact. Well, I feel like Anchor Down has changed that for me. These are so good, I imagine other doggies are just ruined for me. I’m sure I’ll still be able to eat a regular corn dog, but it will have lost all its luster, thanks to the deliciousness that is Anchor Down. I had a Roger Dog, and a big group of us split savory hush puppies and sweet hush puppies, and everything we tried was delicious. When you find someone to make you a corn dog, but they take extra step to have their own sausages made, to their exact specifications, you’ve found a keeper.

The location for this place is perfect and fairly unique. It’s a great addition to the bustling area around the corner of Deep Deuce. The group that I was with ordered a variety of items on the menu. We started off with the hush pups and ordered the Bird Dog, Wild Dog, and Roger Dog. All of which were delicious corn dogs with a bit of a creative twist to each. The hush pups on the other hand were okay. The cheese curds were almost nonexistent. The overall setting was excellent. Especially if you eat outside. Just remember to order at the bar if you’re sitting inside. But if you sit outside there will be someone out there to take your order. Pro: Drinks are great. The atmosphere is fantastic. Sit outside if you can. Prices are fairly cheap. Con: They’re corn dogs… nothing special. I found the new twist to the corn dogs to be a bit boring. I would go back just for the drinks.

Yummmmy! I am a corn dog freak(I always get one… or more at the state fair every year), so I was so excited to hear about Anchor Down opening. We sat outside on an unseasonably cool night in August, and the patio is great. We had a big group, so just got a little bit of everything and shared. We had the jalapeño hush puppies and chips and dip to start out, and all of it was great. I could probably get those hush puppies for my meal — so good. The onion dip was great too! When it came to the dogs, we had it all — chicken, beef, vegan, cheese and the special, which was a breakfast sausage wrapped in bacon and fried in pancake batter… unfortunately, the breakfast one went quick so I didn’t get to try it. Everyone had great things to say though. My least favorite was probably the chicken sausage; I just didn’t care for the texture. However, the Roger dog and cheese dog — amazing. I mean, yeah, it’s a corn dog, but it’s delicious. You get two with each order(the staff was fabulous and gave us three per plate since we were all sharing), and I’m not sure I could handle a full order of the cheese dogs, but oh man were they delicious. All in all, everything was great — food, adult beverages(great beer selection) and service. I’ll be back for sure!

Oh, this place has definitely won me over! Let me start off by saying that I HATE corn dogs. I grew up on those big blue boxes of State Fair corn dogs, so just the mere mentioning of a corn dogs makes me dry heave a little bit. And now onto my review. Got to AD around 5:30ish to have some adult beverages and tasty eats with the Unilocal kiddos. The staff was outstanding! Everyone was upbeat, attentive and focused on making sure we all were having a good time. And it wasn’t just our table either. Our server was watching over 4 other tables and I didn’t see one of them look displeased with their experience. A+++ The food… well, as mentioned, I’m not a corn dog fan. But, that changed on my visit to AD. Our table ordered almost everything on the menu. My personal favorite was their mystery corn dog.(I can’t remember the name of it, but none of its ingredients were listed in the menu.) Apparently, this corn dog changes from day to day. On the day I went, the cord dog was sausage wrapped in bacon. Great grandmother’s spatula was it good! I was also a big fan of their queso, which had a very unique taste. The chicken and veggie corn dogs were also quite delish. Now for one of my favorite things to talk about… alcohol. AD has a nice beer selection, considering the size of the establishment and has many local beers on the menu. They also have a very nice alcohol selection. I elected to try AD’s spin on the boilermaker. As many of you know, I like to consider myself a beer connoisseur, so naturally I was intrigued by the boilermaker. AD’s version was served in a really neat AD cup(Which you can keep for $ 10…and is what I did.) and consisted of 1 shot of Jim Beam mixed with every beer on tap.(Around 12 – 15 different beers.) It was a very strange, yet oddly satisfying, drink. I let others around the table try it and they were all just as surprised as I was at how tasty it was. Kudos to AD. You have a new fan of boilermakers. I’m sure I will be coming back. It’s too good not to.

It could have not been a more perfect evening. The summer temps reasonably cool, only a slight breeze in the air, beer and corn dogs a’plenty, and good times with great people. I’ve been dying to try this place since its opening in late June. What? A pseudo-vegetarian /pescetarian dying for corn dogs? Well, 4 words: Cheese Dog. Guard Dog – AKA their vegan faux-sage dog. I mean, it’s frikkin’ Oklahoma. I’m down to try anything that claims to be vegan here. I arrived here a quarter after 5, being a good hostess for an impending group of folks and scoping out some space early. There’s plenty of outdoor seating, which was ideal on an August evening where the outdoors were not Hell’s Sauna for once. The service was nothing short of perfection. Every staff person I interacted with was friendly, scrupulous with ID’s but not overbearing about it, and all around there to make sure we were having a good time. Do note that if you dine indoors, you need to order at the bar. If you choose to dine outdoors, you receive tableside service. I ordered a drink at the bar and wound up outside, which they happily continued to add more orders to my already established tab. Here’s what you should do when dining here: go here with a group of friends and order everything off the menu. Thanks to John D.‘s great thinking, our table got a few of everything. Anchor Down took even extra care of us and threw in extra dogs when John mentioned to them that we’d like to try everything. That vegan dog? Delicious. The batter wasn’t nearly as thick, but I was so floored by how good the faux-sage was, I didn’t care. The cheese dog? Simply, utterly divine. These are from the cheese-friendly masterminds behind The Mule, after all! I also tried the jalapeño hush pups, which were delicious. They weren’t terribly spicy and had just the ideal amount of jalapeño for me. The dogs also come on a bed of house chips, which were quite tasty with the various dips of onion dip and queso. The cheese dog comes with a tomato gravy that I found myself dipping the chips into as well. Again, I can’t speak highly enough how well Anchor Down took care of us. Each time a new member of our party showed up, the waitress was quick to bring out a water and take any additional beverage orders. Along with the good food and great company, Anchor Down was a most excellent place to spend a Wednesday evening. Can’t wait to return!

I have been to Anchor Down twice now and have thought the food was excellent both times. I love their slightly sweet and crispy cornmeal batter. It reminds me of the long poncho dogs at the State Fair in a good way. The first time I went my husband and I split a cheese dog and a wild dog, which was a wild boar sausage that day. Both were super yummy, though the boar sausage was extremely spicy. I fell in love with the cheese dog and got it on my second visit as well. I remember going to Hot Dog on a Stick at the mall when I was little and my mom would buy me a cheese-on-a-stick and lemonade. The cheese dog at Anchor Down is reminiscent of my beloved mall dog except gourmet. The cheese is Tillamook cheddar and has a beautiful, gooey stretch. It is like eating a grilled cheese except on a stick. And they serve it with their tomato gravy for dipping, which is really like a thick tomato soup. It is seasoned with fresh rosemary which adds a wow factor. It really is the perfect bite. At first I thought $ 7-$ 8 was a bit pricey, but we were surprised to discover that each order comes with two dogs. It is perfect for sharing, especially if you can talk your dining companion into ordering something different and sampling a few options. They dogs come on a bed of potato chips. They are good and obviously house made, but they aren’t anything to write home about. So what do I wish was different? The jalapeño hushpuppies looked and sounded better than they were. For hush puppies they were a very light, more floury dough instead of a traditionally heavy, cornmeal dough. I prefer the latter. That doesn’t make them bad. But I did find myself wish for much more cheese curds. In fact, the curds were non-existent in most bites. Hopefully they are still reaching for perfection on this dish. Additionally, everything on the menu is fried. Corn dogs. Hush puppies. Beds of potato chips. I think it would be lovely if they would add some side options that are not fried to help cut through all the grease. Some slaw, pickles, or salads would go a long way. I love the location and décor. They have a great view of downtown, a nice clean look, and it is always perfectly cool in there. The shipping container concept is so awesome! The service has always been good too. They aren’t over the top friendly, but they are kind and help me accomplish my goal of shoving my face. Keep in mind that if you are sitting inside you order at the bar; only tables outside have table service. Anchor Down is a great addition to OKC. Two thumbs up!

Yes. Anchor Down makes a good addition with the new OK Sea development. Anne the Wife and I split the Wild Dog on opening night and couldn’t have been happier — ours was spicy as hell and the sauce was another kick in pants. I’m hoping they keep doing the two smaller corn dogs with each order. The service was crazy fast too and very appreciated. We only ordered the one dog to split to keep it a fast and cheap date night($ 9 including tip), but we’ll be back to try out the other options and start making our way through their beer list. —– UPDATE! We stopped by a couple days later and ordered another round of dogs — the Bird Dog(chicken and sweeter sauces), Cheese Dog(think grilled cheese and tomato soup), and Roger Dog(classic state fair) for the kid. Anchor Down, thanks for being around.

Oklahoma City is overdue for something so hip. I was elated whenever I first saw the plans of OKSea because I’ve long had an affinity for shipping-container construction. But on to the restaurant– So yes, of course I loved every bit of the physical restaurant, from the outdoor seating underneath the rope lights, to the long bar and wooden tables to sit and enjoy some delectable corn dogs, this place is stunning in every regard. Their beer selection is great too! After all, after 9PM, this place is a bar and you must be 21. We popped in at about 11:50pm to grab a beer and some corn dogs(seriously, how great are the hours here?) and jumped out to the patio under the cool night sky to enjoy them. I had a Cheese Dog, which came with a tomato gravy and my friend ordered something else. We each got two, so we traded. But holy moly, that cheese corndog. I dipped it into the tomato gravy and I swear to you this would be my last meal on earth.
