Applebee’s

Typical Applebees. Food is consistent with all the others. Service is hit or miss but mostly miss. Notice how they never seem busy, even at peak hours… The service at any Applebees is generally sub par and this one is no exception. If they could get better servers, I wouldn’t have any complains.

Applebees is your typical casual dining experience. It has a varied menu that includes burgers, salads, pasta, and even steak.
I like Applebees because it has several items that I like to eat. My wife and I usually do the 2 for $ 20 deal with the spinach artichoke dip. I’ve liked their pasta, but i don’t like their new cajun shrimp dish. They decided to make it Cajun by loading it down with black pepper. As I am not a big fan of black pepper, that much of it ruined the dish for me. The asian chicken salad is excellent. Highly recommend it.
The service here is hit and miss. Last time I was there the problem was with the kitchen being short staffed, and an annoying waitress. However, I have gotten good service there before.

I have other reviews to do, but I want to get this one out of the way while it’s still 15 minutes fresh in my mind.
Non-​star related experience (a warning to the more sane late nighters):
What’s worse than a young group of clueless 20 somethings shrieking like banshees and laughing like hyenas?
Answer: Late 20s and mid-​30 somethings shrieking like banshees and laughing like hyenas. The booth behind my boyfriend and I was packed with some really interesting… people. The bulk of the conversation which I was forced to overhear went something like, «Remember that one time I was soooo drunk?» and «I want to get so drunk tonight!» also «I don’t remember. I was drunk!»
Some other gems included, «Here’s that video of us showing our cleavage, omigod!» and «Let’s go to a strip club!» Over and over and over… I’m not begrudging anyone their fun, but good God. It’s an APPLEBEE’S. Oh yeah, you’re so WILD drinking at an Applebee’s, and such liberated ladies that feel the need to constantly talk about wanting to see some t**s. I know us ladies can have fun at the strip club, but shouting it out in a desperate need to insist you’re one of the bros? Dial it down, chica.
Service:
Womp-​womp. I feel deeply sorry for the man handling my boyfriend and I because he was also tasked with the aforementioned hyenas. But that doesn’t really make it any less undesirable that we got a refill on our water ONCE, and they were empty most of the time. And… He also have my berry sangria to that table! I bet they didn’t get charged either, urgh.
And a little service peeve of mine is lack of attention to detail. My boyfriend asked about the half price appetizers and then we ordered queso and the app sampler. Now, the sampler is full price which makes sense in hindsight, but if I had been that server and known that the customer was asking about the HALF PRICE appetizers I would have mentioned that the sampler was not included in that.
Food and drinks:
Chips and queso ²⁄₅: The portion of queso was abysmal, and it was mostly just filled with tomatoes. The chips were flimsy and greasy.
Sampler plate ³⁄₅: The quesadillas were thin and mostly breading but what was inside was alright.
The spinach artichoke dip was decent, but the chips are the same that comes with queso and that made the dip suffer.
The wings were meh.
The mozzarella sticks were so-​so, but nothing mouth watering.
Berry sangria ⁴⁄₅: Tasty little treat with pieces of fruit inside. I noted that mine was less fruity looking than the one the waiter had given to the wrong table. Way to rectify that by giving me a crappier drink. It was a little watered down, but otherwise okay.
Some sort of margarita ⁵⁄₅: My boyfriend thoroughly enjoyed this.

We had lunch here this afternoon at around 12:30 or so. The service was good but the bloody Mary was a little disappointing. My wife and I had the two for twenty sirloins which were decently sized. Hers however was not cooked enough. It went back to the kitchen right away and the manager came out personally and brought it to our table. He was very apologetic, took it off the bill, and even a beer that we ordered before we left. I have never seen any restaurant bend over backwards over a steak like that! It’s clear these folks understand customer service and aim to please. We will definitely be back!

Had dinner there last night. I had the cajun lime tilapia and it was perfect! It came on a bed of rice and was topped with a corn salsa. the steamed broccoli was cooked exactly right and was very good. My wife had a steak cooked medium rare and that was how it arrived. She said she’s had better ones there but it was OK. Service was attentive but not overbearing. So why only 3 stars? Applebees has had a menu section that gave a Weight Watcher point value to certain menu items. Last night we found only a couple and our server said they were phasing that out. Too bad for those of us trying to eat healthy.

I strolled into this restaurant one fine evening for Veteran’s Day dinner… Applebee’s treat! Big ups to you waiters and waitresses who worked hard to serve us Veteran’s Friday night. The place was packed, but everyone got in and got full. We appreciate your recognition:)

My girlfriend took me to lunch here the other day. It is an Applebee’s, so can it really get more than 3 stars? The last few Applebee’s I’ve ate at the food was beyond gross and the service was beyond horrible. At this location on a Saturday afternoon we were promptly seated. The service was attentive but not overwhelming. The food (Appetizer Sampler and Shrimp Salad) was properly prepared and good tasting. I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat here, but I would go back, especially if I am being treated again :)
