service was decent but he food was not good! very much like a cheap t.v. dinner! would not recommend!

I have so much affection for this place, and admiration for the fact that it really hasn’t changed much inside from the dinners out of my childhood. Still endearingly colorful and kitschy, with mariachi music in the background.
Food is feel-​good, unpretentious tex-​mex. Unlimited queso, salsa, chips and tortillas to satisfy your hunger the minute you sit down. But don’t overdo it because the entrée portions are huge. Enchiladas, fajitas, and burrito con queso have always been particular favorites with our family.
For dessert, you have weird and wonderful concoctions like fried ice cream and chocolate caramel nachos. And they’re always ready and willing to make a sufficiently embarrassing fuss over birthdays and other special occasions.
Service is fast and friendly. Pay a visit to the stuffed animal crane game in the lobby for old time’s sake — we lost MANY quarters in there over the years as kids.

The food is always fast, cheap, and made to order. However the cheese sauce has become more thin and runny. It’s still tasty. The service was really great, but the atmosphere is run down.
If you’re in the mood for a quickie — this is a great place. However — it’s just okay … don’t go and expect to be amazed.
What I would recommend is — asking them to make your lunch special to your liking. Like the duos on the menu. I didn’t want just two enchiladas. I wanted three — one chicken, one cheese, and one spinach. I asked if they could make it to my tastes, and they said they could. So if you’r in the mood for something special — always ask.
However, I will not be getting the spinach enchilada again. It wasn’t to my liking. The chicken enchilada was really good.

I think El Chico is a
Pretty solid Mexican food place. I like their salsa but I don’t like their cheese sauce. I love their sizzling chicken salad! It is delicious.

Never liked their over priced, low quality food anyway, but these kinds of business practices are unacceptable. I just wanted the Unilocal community to be aware of them.
