This is by far my favorite fabric store in OKC. I love several things about this store. #1 I can almost always find what I need here and #2 it is probably on sale. I am not a master seamstress so I can never figure out how much I need to buy which brings me to #3 they have the best staff and customer service! I am always blown away how long they will trade sewing secrets with me and how helpful they always are! #4 the store is pretty well organized #5 they accept all competitor coupons! So if you do find that amazing fabric that isn’t on sale… bam! Pull out your Joann’s coupon and voila!

let me preface this by stating that i am anti-pinterest. not because i think it’s lame, but because i lack whatever it is that makes people take ordinary items and turn them into fabulous statements pieces. i’m not crafty. i want to be so badly. i even attempt it occasionally, but it usually ends up in a deformed mix of all the crafting items involved. but, for some strange reason, i had it in my head that i would make our christmas tree skirt this year. now, i realize that is no big feat for most. it’s really just cutting a circle. i get that, so bear with me. i wandered the expansive store. found blankets(already-made ones) for a very reasonable price. there were tons of arts and crafts to be had with young tots. there were even decorations in the store! i made it to the back and walked by a black vinyl. i decided that would be the skirts, given our tree is white, with black and silver bulbs. i had NO idea where to even begin. it had been since my teens, and i was with my mother, that i’d been in a fabric store. i took the bolt to the front and laid it on the counter and said, «i have no idea what i’m doing.» the woman behind the counter smiled kindly and said, «well, what are you making.» i explained to her what i’d like to do. she measured and cut the vinyl then showed me how to measure and cut it when i got home. i rushed home, followed her instructions, and i promptly amazed my housemates with our perfect and unique tree skirt! best part is that it cost a grand total of $ 7.58. if you’d like to see my grand achievement at something crafty, here’s a visual:
