Taco Tuesday: need I say more?(Actually, yes, I probably should). Classic Mexican street tacos for $ 1 a piece(normally $ 1.30 or so) served with pickled carrots, jalapeños, and onions(in a bowl on the side) and fresh cut radishes(same). They have two house-made sauces in bottles on the table that are both flavorful and delicious. On days that aren’t Taco Tuesday, I recommend trying a burrito or torta, which are filling and pretty cost-effective as well.

I like Hugos… they arent as good as Abels or Tacos San Pedro, but they are very solid. I usually get the taquitos and/or carne asada tacos. The carne asada is good… there is nothing I can complain about. I really cant expand too much… they are a solid choice for some mexican food if youre in the neighborhood. Do note, this is more of a taco shop, meaning ok for lunch but you probably arent coming here for date night…

Very good Latino food for a great price. Taco Tuesday($ 1 each) is a bit crazy too, don’t over order or you’ll have lots of leftovers.

Food here was great! We had all of the different tacos and they were great. This is a 4star because I think the place should be taken to the next level in terms of the interiors. It looks really chabby inside. If they invested about $ 1000 they could take the place to the next level. Will probably be back for the food, but I wish they would make the place look more appetising as well!

Food was pretty good, I had the huevos rancheros and they were made with red chile salsa. I’m from Texas and I’ve never had them done this way. Also it came with rice and beans which was a new one for me as well. Overall, it was good in trying something different and I would recommend this place to other patrons.

Only a fool waits for Tuesday to eat tacos. Alliteration is awesome, amazing, acceptable, absolutely available as an alternative. But it’s no way to live. You wouldn’t wait until Friday to put out a fire. Nobody says, «I’d like to get this malaria treated, but it’s not Monday.» We take care of problems on an as-needed basis, and your as needs to eat some tacos now. In related news, let me tell you about Hugo’s Taquizas, 3409NW23rd St., which is a restaurant that sells tacos and taco-related foods. On Tuesdays, Hugo’s sells its delicious, tiny little tacos for $ 1. On a non-Tuesday, the tacos are $ 1.50 or $ 1.75. So, if you’re on a budget, Tuesday is a great day to go. And if you just want tacos, lots and lots of little tacos filled with different kinds of meats, Hugo’s is a great place to go. On a big board, they have a list of Carne Y Guisos — aka The Meats — divided up by color. Red are cows. White are chickens. Green are pigs. You should try a little of everything. That said, not every meat is available every day. You probably can’t go wrong with carne asada(steak), so if you’re looking for a larger taco experience right off the bat, get a Tacon($ 4.49) with asada. A Tacon is a taco stuffed in a pita. It’s a gyro taco with lettuce and tomato and avocado. There’s nothing wrong with this at all. Some people like burritos, and by some, I mean all. When someone says, «I don’t like burritos,» it’s your duty as a citizen of Earth to report them to the authorities because that person is from space and is likely here to enslave the human race. Just FYI. If you want to prove your loyalty to the planet, step up to the challenge of the 007-B Impossible Burrito($ 9.99). They will let you put up to four meats in this burrito. It takes two giant tortillas to contain the tidal wave of meat, rice, beans, onions and cilantro trying to burst forth into your mouth. It has the circumference of a Coke can and is about four times as long. It’s awesome. But perhaps you don’t have some kind of burrito-based death wish. You could instead get a quesadilla. The Campechana($ 5.99) is a grilled tortilla stuffed with carne asada and chorizo with cilantro, onion and cheese. It’s greasy and kind of wonderful. It’s not always available, but the Tacos Dorados($ 5) is worth seeking out. You get five tacos stuffed with mashed potatoes, deep-fried. Then they put cabbage and tomatoes and salsa on top. Crunchy-creamy-fresh-spicy. It’s exactly like the rap album I pitched to Death Row Records a few years ago. The Pambazos($ 4.75) … I’m not even sure how to describe one. It’s a sandwich with fried potatoes inside. There’s chorizo, so it’s spicy. There’s a ton of shredded lettuce and cheese. It’s a mess, a giant, delicious, elbow-your-loved-ones-to-keep-them-away mess. If you are the sort of person who goes to a taqueria for breakfast, hello. I’m glad we’re friends now. Let us seal our bond with matching tattoos. But also, you might like to know that Hugo’s serves lots of breakfast tacos and burritos but also kid-friendly favorites like pancakes(3 for $ 4.49) and torrejas($ 4.49), which they describe as «Mexican French toast.» Why French people are horning in on this, I do not know. All I do know is that Hugo’s Taquizas is a heck of a tasty little taqueria. The picnic tables are big enough to seat a crowd, and the prices are low enough that everybody will get enough to eat. Most importantly, it serves tasty Mexican dishes you’re sure to love even if it isn’t Taco Tuesday.

I love Hugo’s! Their breakfast burritos are delicious, Taco Tuesdays = the most deliciously economical meal you can have in the metro, their aguas frescas are SO good, and the tacos and quesadillas are never disappoint. I’m not a fan of their tortas but I’m not a fan of tortas in general. We usually do take-out and the only reason for 4-stars is that I’ve learned the hard way to double check the order before I leave. Other than that, this place is great!

The salsa was good, and the fries as well. The tora was the best I’ve ever had. Only minor things could use improving, like the meat being a bit tough. Be warned when going to the bathroom, it’s pretty bad.

YESSSSS finally a good, solid, homey place for some bomb real mexican food in OKC. We got the tacos de cabeza, lengua, and carne and they were EXCELLENT. The sopes were really good too. This place is solid and it looks like the owner runs a tight ship! Please stop going to Teds and come eat some real good homemade mexican food! The place is in a run down establishment but it looks real clean inside. The kitchen is open to see and also looks clean. REALLY glad this place is here. Excited to try some menudo, burritos and whatever else they have!

This place is inconsistent with their offerings. I will never understand how a restaurant will serve an order differently with alternating portions between visits. I understand seasonal availabilities, but there isn’t a season for tortilla chips. The music was so loud on this visit. I will try again to compare the visit one last time, and complete my final review.

11 de junio fue mi primera vez a probar su restaurante a través de comida para llevar. He tenido un montón de comida mexicana en mis treinta años, y nada era tan auténtico como este.

Beautiful, home cooked food. Extremely friendly staff. (Some may have limited English — be forewarned.) A personal favorite. We eat there VERY often.

Mini-strip mall on the north side of NW23rd just east of I-44. Clean, but it’s got some wear on it. The Missus and I stopped past after our usual Sunday morning rituals. We each got a 3 taco plate special(for only 5 bucks… geez). Between us, we had steak, barbeque, marinated pork, and grilled pork. Street taco style, with cilantro and onion, along with red or green sauce at the table. Super tasty. The steak was a little dry, but the porks were super juicy and the barbeque had amazing flavor(I think the sauce used adobo). I also saw a menudo come out that looked incredible, and provided me with even more inspiration to return. The lady at the cash register struggled with her english a little, but everyone was nice and professional. To recount, clean restaurant, friendly professional staff, great food and reasonable prices(okay, they’re actually probably too low). It’s a definite winner. Recommended.

I celebrate my Taco Tuesday’s here. I’ve been frequenting Hugo’s for roughly 8 months or so. This establishment began as just a hole in the wall taco joint, but they’ve undergone extensive remodeling since I first walked into the door. With the exception of 2 – 3 times, I always order the tacos. There are plenty of options, including breakfast tacos in the A.M. Off the top of my head, the selections include: Chorizo and Egg, Beef, Chicken, Pork, Lengua(tongue), Chorizo, Barbacoa. I’m sure they have many more, and you can’t go wrong with any. At times, the chicken is a bit dry, but it’s still one of my favorites. On Tuesday, all tacos are $ 1 each, every other day they are 1.50. Hugo is very conveniently located on N.W. 23rd, near I-44. I’m ecstatic that I’m no longer forced to travel to the southside for good mexican food. Keep up the good work Hugos!
