My best friends had a wedding there and they were absolutely the rudest people I have ever met. They made the wedding party carry out the trash at the end of the night and when a bag broke open in the alley they made the bride pick up garbage in the alley. Even On the Border caterers said they had never been treated so poorly.

This is just all around a great space! It’s a big open space, perfect for events, and as a bonus has great artwork! I’ve never actually been to the gallery during business hours, because they host so many great events. The artwork is always changing, and has a different feel to it. The featured art is all local, and is definitely not the art you’d see at OKCMOA. And that’s a compliment. The open space with modern artwork makes IAO a place I love to just go spend some time. I’d definitely check back often, and see what new fun things they have going on.

This is great alternative to the outdoor park when the weather is chilly and kids are young. It’s geared towards the 1−5yo age group, though my kids(7,8) engaged in some interesting self-created hula hoop hopscotch before we left for more sunshine. Kudos to the folks at IAO for lending gallery space to the community in the cold months. Plenty of kids were playing with Legos and blocks and big empty tubes(IT’S A LIGHTSABER!) and strolling though the turf. We saw bowlers and fishermen and women, a sand table, and a koosh soccer ball. If my kids were younger, we’d be enjoying this free open playroom as long as it’s installed!

Great space in Oklahoma showing new work, and artists pushing the boundaries in new mediums. Always finding something I like here. i put«not sure» on the bar because it changes based on the event :)

This gallery is such a wonderful space! I am loving everything going on with Film Row recently and IAO is just lovely. I’m no expert on galleries so I can’t elaborate as much as I’d like to, but trust me, it’s cool.

@IAOGallery offers a little something for everyone. First and foremost, it’s a gallery showcasing art by Oklahoma’s artists. There’s no admission charge to visit the gallery during normal business hours and shows change often enough, so there’s always something new to see. For over 30 years, IAO has provided a venue for some of Oklahoma’s best artists. A recent move from Automobile Alley to Film Row has helped jumpstart Film Row’s renaissance. It’s also home to some of the most fun art shows in the city — a chance to cut loose, enjoy a new show by top local artists while enjoying the sights and sounds of our growing arts community. Perhaps most importantly, you get an opportunity to interact with the people of all ages and backgrounds who work hard to keep our local arts scene moving forward. I’ve had some of the most fun and memorable nights of my life here, and I always leave here thankful that I stayed in Oklahoma City where I could be a part of just these very things. For artists, it’s one of the best places in the city to show. IAO works to create opportunities for local artists who are provocative — ascetically, socially, etc. Their board is half local business and philanthropic types and half working artists, and they strive to address the needs of our artists and identify ways to help keep them here, create more opportunities to show and sell art, and give the artists a chance to connect with the patrons. If you’re planning an event, it’s a wonderful place to host an event and ensure your guests will have a fun time. The newly renovated space in the historic Film Row district west of downtown has two large spaces for events, that can be combined for large parties. It’s hard to find such an urbane space with large windows overlooking Sheridan Ave that also has a new kitchen, nice restrooms and other amenities. Their rates are affordable and you can choose your own caterer and bartenders. They are now the anchor and primary organizers for«Première on Film Row,» on the third Friday of every month. The event ‘premiered’ this month and it was already packed with some of the most fun and interesting people in the city. The crowd skewed a bit younger than Paseo First Friday, older and less beard-y than Plaza Second Fridays, and less overwhelming than H&8th. This might end up being the«Friday» that I like the most!

We have only been here once but we were so pleased to find another cool art spot in OKC. We attended one of their annual events and left thoroughly entertained, wide eyed, and full of laughter! The art was of an adult nature and was done in a super tasteful way that brought in people that would normally shy away. I found a few I would have loved to have hanging in our home! I highly recommend following this spot for upcoming events, I do not thing you will be disappointed.

One thing I am very passionate about is art — in all forms, not just visual. The individual Artists of Oklahoma Gallery is a great venue that not only promotes local visual artist, but also poetry, film, and performance. With visual art changing out just about every month there is always something interesting to look at. Also they have performances in film, poetry readings and dance from time to time. I truly enjoy this gallery and highly suggest it to all those wishing to kill an afternoon. Sonce there is no entry fee most of the time save for some select performances it is also one of the better values in the OKC area. Definitely worth checking out.
