Let me start by saying I had reservations and had to wait 20 minuets after that for a table, and was directed to the 4′ bar(literally a 4′ bar) with no seating and we were the only ones at the bar and never got acknowledged or looked at for the whole 20 minuets waiting for our reserved table. Expensive! and A-LA-Cart, ordered KC strip medium well, girlfriend got ribeye medium rare, i got mine medium rare and hers was medium well! One a plain white plate no garnish at all, sides we got were extra salty(onion rings and fried potatoes with onions.) I ordered sauteed mushrooms with my steak i kid you not got 2 table spoons of steams and pieces that you buy in a can at Walmart in plain beef broth. We got complimentary bread that was a french bread roll sliced from Walmart and placed in a basket on our table. When we left we were asked if we would like some bread to go, I said no thanks I’ll stop by Walmart on the way home and get some of it.

My wife and I ate there for our anniversary and we were very pleased. The food was delicious. The lobster bisque was one of the best I’ve ever had. The steak was very good, simply seasoned and grilled. The battered and fried lobster was also excellent. The atmosphere was what you would expect for a place called«the Haunted House.» The restaurant and décor is older but that was part of the slightly creepy ambiance. The wait staff was very attentive and friendly, especially Kennedy. My only complaint was the road leading to the restaurant has many pot holes. We really had a great experience and plan to return.

I brought my boyfriend here to celebrate our anniversary and unfortunately, there was something wrong with every part of the meal. We waited 30 minutes for our drinks and had to remind the server that they hadn’t arrived yet. Our medium rare steaks were bloody and our waitress didn’t follow up to ask if they were cooked properly. I ate it anyway, but it was just too rare for my taste. To make matters worse, our sides arrived after we had already finished the main course and we had to remind our server what we had ordered. To be fair, our waitress apologized and removed the sides from our ticket, but I still ended up spending $ 150 on a very disappointing experience.

After cancelling Friday 11⁄27 because of OKC ice storms we visited Sunday evening instead. Upon arrival we were greeted and seated promptly. Different water options were offered as we met server. After water was dropped. we weren’t asked for wine/cocktail orders for another 10 mins. Ordered appetizer then(lobster mac n cheese is large enough for 4) It arrived within 15 mins. not a bad wait because the Christmas music was loudly blaring out the speaker above our table. We had a great time conversing. I’m just glad there were only 4 other tables seated in the entire restaraunt. We had Prime Rib and Strip steaks. all enjoyable. Having to pay $ 7 for sides is a bit over the edge as steaks alone are over $ 35. All in all. ok experience. RIP Marian!!!

My boyfriend and I decided to try this place on a whim when I was scrolling through OpenTable. I recognized the name and story after reading the article about the reopening on . We made a Friday night, 7pm reservation, and we were so excited when this place they call a «haunted house» started taking us down a dark, single lane, dirt road. The restaurant is a charming old house that is well manicured. I had taken a good look at the menu prior to arriving and when I noticed that no prices were listed I knew we would be spending a pretty penny, but I was excited for the experience. We sat in the small back dining room, surrounded by people that appeared to be regulars as the hostess, who has apparently been with the restaurant for a very long time, was chatting with people she knew by first name. It was apparent she is very passionate about this restaurant, and for good reason. We ordered the mushroom caps as an appetizer with a bottle of cabernet. The mushrooms were wonderful. Very large and covered in tasty cheese. It was the perfect warm up to a meal with a tasty glass of wine. I ordered the prime rib medium rare, and my boyfriend ordered the ribeye medium rare. We also ordered the asparagus and a baked potato as sides. The steaks were both cooked well, and both were beautiful large cuts. It is apparent that they purchase quality meat and that the chef knows how to cook a steak to perfection. I was disappointed that the sides were sold a la carte considering most restaurants that opt to serve sides this way serve them family style, i.e., large enough for the table. However, a baked potato is not something you share and the asparagus did not come in a portion large enough to share either. I believe that the price of the steaks would be easier to swallow if it came with one or two sides. I was pleased with the food because overall it was very well cooked and seasoned. I have no complaints there. The only disappointing part of the meal was when we ordered dessert. We ordered the bananas foster not only because it is one of my favorite desserts, but how much fun is it to have the chef come to your table to flambé your dessert right before you. However, as the chef was approaching our table he started to light the dessert on fire but then stopped to chat with another table. By the time he got to our table, the flame was out and he simple plopped it on the table and walked away. Too bad.

This place is amazing, I haven’t been to the Haunted House in several years, I went when the original owner was running it. I am so happy they are open and continuing to keep this place open. I was so please with the food, I don’t eat fried foods but I tried the fried lobster tail with drawn butter. I think I died and went to heaven. I’ve never tried something so delicious in my life, each bite melted in my mouth. The onion rings are out of this world too, the seasoning and the taste of the onion are like no other onion ring I have tried. We should call them onion«crowns» because they are fit to serve a king. Lastly the candied bacon bread pudding was an outstanding way to end our evening. Such a wonderful place!

We used to adore the original Haunted House and decided to give the new owners a shot for our anniversary dinner. We made a reservation the week before and had no problems getting a table. We arrived early and were glad we did as the parking lot filled up quickly once the magical 7PM reservation time arrived. While the new owners have updated the menu, they certainly have not updated the old tables and chairs that are covered with red tape as a form of repair. I can actually appreciate that they purchased the place at auction and quickly turned it around to open, so there was no time to make updates… and quite frankly, they probably don’t want to until they start turning a profit. We were quickly seated upon our arrival at what we call«Our table» since we get it each time we have been here. The waiter arrived quickly and offered us a choice between sparkling and still water… we chose sparkling, though other diners loudly opted for«Tap water». The menu isn’t long so it was a quick decision for us to order: the lobster bisque, a caesar salad, prime rib and a fillet, both medium rare, baked potato, and grilled asparagus, along with a bottle of cabernet. Our wine came quickly, though the waiter managed to spill it on the white table cloth while pouring both the first pour and filling our glasses(I’m still not sure he was even old enough to be serving alcohol, to tell the truth). The bread arrived soon after and was very tasty, though I miss the melba toast the original HH served… it was a signature item for us. The bisque and salad arrived shortly thereafter and the bisque was tasty with lobster that was fresh and not chewy. The caesar salad was decent and the croutons were nice and garlicky. Our meal came after a bit of a wait once our starters were removed from the table. The filet was perfectly medium rare, but the prime rib was extremely rare, which made it chewy. The asparagus was overcooked but the baked potato was just right. The wine was rough around the edges and we probably should have just stopped drinking it but we were celebrating and so we did. After asking for a box for my prime rib, just so I could cook it more when I got home, it took a good 15 minutes to get it. Two tables should not have caused such a long wait. We were never offered a dessert menu, but our waiter did bring us a sundae for our anniversary, so perhaps that was why we were not offered the dessert menu??? Overall, I was extremely disappointed in the fact that people were coming in wearing jeans and t shirts and shorts and tanks. For the prices they charge, there should be some level of a dress code. NOTHING about this place makes it stand out as anything other than just another steak house in town. That said, the food was not as good as some other steak places in town and is far overpriced for the casual crowd it seems to draw. Dress code aside, this rates only 2 stars as we HAVE had WAY better.

I cannot say enough good things about our experience at J Bruner’s at the Haunted House. It has been two days since our delicious meal, and I have gushed to everyone I have seen since that night about the wonderful, excellent waitstaff,(our server’s name was Kennedy and she was knowledgeable, extremely nice and never let our drinks get low!!) and unbelievably PERFECTLY cooked meal by Chef Michael Harrison. We ordered the ribeye, fried lobster tail, and prime rib, with asparagus, fried potatoes onion rings and mushroom caps. Honestly, everything we ate was perfectly cooked and we were both speechless about the steak and lobster. Easily the BEST steak we have ever had and the lobster tail was amazing as well. The ambiance of the restaurant itself is also breathtaking, I am counting down the days to when I get to visit them again. The food was really THAT good. I am in awe and will be back, hopefully sooner than later. 10⁄10 would recommend to anyone looking for a exceptional and UNFORGETTABLE dining experience.

We celebrated our anniversary at the haunted house. We had a good time. Our server, Tiffany was perfect. She knew the food well and made great recommendations and was very good at fading into the background. Our drinks were always full and we never had to ask for anything. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms, wonderful. Yummy filling and they weren’t mushy. I had mahi-mahi with bacon mushroom sauce(delicious) and asparagus. My husband had the pork chop and baked potato. We were also surprised by a complimentary ice cream sundae for our anniversary. We enjoyed the food very much and had an enjoyable evening. Yes the facilities are older and the décor is a bit dated but it was still very elegant. But we also don’t like our meals with a huge dose of pretension. We were treated like honored guests which went pretty far. We don’t like restaurants where the servers look down their noses. This is Oklahoma, not NY.

My first time back to the Haunted House Restaurant since the reopening, now called J. Bruner’s at the Haunted House Restaurant. We went on Thursday night at 6:30, booked reservations through the open table app. I received a confirmation phone call that afternoon, which was very impressive. I was happy to see the grounds were manicured by the new ownership and there were about three occupied tables in each dining room. The food was delicious as usual. We ordered the lobster mac & cheese and stuffed mushroom appetizers. Our entrees were the filet and ribeye. For sides, we chose green beans and asparagus. We also drank a bottle of wine, which was very nice and for dessert we enjoyed what I would describe as a brandy milkshake — very tasty! Our waitress, Tiffany, was training a new waitress, also named Tiffany, so we received excellent service from Tiffanys. Pun intended. After the tax and tip, our bill totaled $ 200. A little high, but it was a special occasion and the food was amazing. For the uninitiated, I recommend you try J. Bruner’s at the Haunted House Restaurant for the high quality food and excellent service. The atmosphere is unique. The motif gives an erie, but charming feeling, which of course is the whole idea. The tables are not very intimate; the rooms are quiet and your conversation will be heard by everyone else in the room. This isn’t an issue if you’re in a large group but it is for a date. Bottom line: I recommend it if you have a realistic expectation of what you’re about to experience.

I was really disappointed, beginning with the parking. I scratched quite a bit of paint having t park off to the side as no spots were available on the paved portion.(And yes I had a reservation and was 10 minutes early. When I left there were three more vehicles parked in the dirt off the drive). Plus I saw no handicap slots and I have handicap access. The waiter was the best part of the dining experience. He was young but very professional. Kudos here. My partner and I both ha the kabobs which advertised 6 ozs of meat. More like two and a sliver of green bell pepper and something I think was an onion. All in all a disappointment. Everything is a la carte. Way overpriced for this market. The chairs are the same old leather chairs from 20 yrs ago and ours were taped on the arms. As for a restaurant of this stature there should be a dress code of some sort. We were seated by a group that had a baby in a carrier and dad had a wife beater tank top with all his tattoos and hairy armpits hanging out and other diners in shorts and tees. Kind of takes away from any ambience. All in all my bubble was burst from the entire experience. This was and had been a special occasion spot for me for years but no longer. Save your money(and paint jobs and shocks) and go to someplace in town.

This was my first time going back to the new Haunted House. Now called«J. Bruner’s at The Haunted House Restaurant». I was a bit surprised to see the interior was unchanged from the previous owner. Still the same tattered, red vinyl chairs and musty smell. Water stains and cracks in the ceiling. Matted, stained carpet. The two things they didn’t keep: Staff and Menu. All of the new staff are very young and seemed to lack fine dinning experience. Our waitress announced every spoon, knife, and tea refill. The bread was delivered a few minutes after our soup and salads. She took away my plate before my female dining companion was through with her meal. Intrusive, cold, and unprofessional. She did admit it was her second night on the floor. That doesn’t excuse poor training. It is best not to put people in service if they don’t know how to serve in this kind of «fine dining» establishment. The menu has changed quite a bit from the previous owner. Lobster mac and cheese as an appetizer? Now we know what they do with their unserved lobster tails. $ 10 for a small caesar salad? $ 40 for an 8oz filet? Wow. Just got back from a business trip to San Francisco and ended up spending less money for better food compared to J. Bruner’s. The caesar was nothing remarkable. Room temperature romaine lettuce on a room temperature plate dressed very sparingly with a caesar dressing that had mediocre flavor. Shaves of some kind of white cheese on top. It wasn’t parmesan. More of a waxy, cheap asiago. It was the size of of a small side salad. For $ 10, I was expecting to be dazzled with both size and flavor. Very disappointing. My dining companion had the prime rib as her entrée. The under side was grey. Hardly any beefy crust to be found from proper roasting. It was tender and moist, yet had the taste of any supermarket steer. A creamy horseradish sauce was served on the side. It tasted of «salad dressing»(think the whipped miracle), barely any horseradish flavor, and looked and tasted as if it had been sitting for many days. My entrée was supposed to be the NY Strip cooked medium-rare. Instead the waitress brought a thin, half-burnt ribeye. I didn’t say anything knowing it would have taken at least another 15 minutes to correct the mistake. Ribeye is fine with me. One half was charred black and cooked medium-well. The other half had decent grill marks and a nice amount of dark pink. Tender, juicy, and good flavor. It wasn’t worth the price, though. Another ordinary, supermarket-quality cut of beef. Toward the end of the meal, we were asked to fill out a comment card. I mentioned the steak confusion and $ 10 caesar salad. Hopefully they’ll correct their kitchen and consider reducing prices. Everything on the menu is a la carte. Everything is priced far beyond what most people OKC would consider reasonable for the quality of the food. I can’t see returning any time soon.
