The best ramen in OKC. It’s not saying much since there aren’t many ramen places, but this is the better of the two/three. The broth itself has a lot of umami and not too salty like the other places. The noodles have always been chewy when I ate it and not bad for the price. The serving size is a little small, but what do you expect from food trucks nowadays? I probably won’t be having ramen often, but when I do I’ll definitely eat Kaiteki over its competitors.

When Kaiteki first started their business, they were the talk of the town. The fact that they were also a bit hard to hunt down made their business all that more desirable. When we first found them on H&8th, we made sure we were first in line. We ordered the ramen and the pork bao. The ramen was $ 8 and the bao was $ 3.50. For the price, I assumed I’d be getting a decent sized bowl and very delicious baos. Upon receiving our order, we were a bit disappointed. The ramen was served in a relatively small cup with even smaller quantities of veggies and half an egg. At all the ramen places I’ve been to, ramen was almost always served with atleast several pieces of cha sieu pork. The bun on the bao is actually pretty good. I couldn’t get a good bite of the pork, however. It was tough, chewy, and I almost ripped out my front teeth. I just can’t justify $ 3.50 for the pork bun. Now that Tamashii is open, Kaiteki definitely has some competition. Especially since you can sit in a restaurant as opposed to the sidewalk. I know that the owners have some other things that they do on the side that are pretty good, but Kaiteki in my opinion isn’t holding out so well.

Kaiteki has been a bit of a white whale for our family. We have seen the truck occasionally while out and about in the city, but usually after we had eaten at another of OKC’s fine establishments. Then they seemed to disappear for a time as if they knew our family was circling in for a taste. So when driving by Bleu Garten, after running errands in midtown, we spotted our old foe and quickly found a parking spot to give it a try. After a friendly explanation of the menu, of which most of the items sounded amazing, we ordered the Kaiteki Ramen and Pork Belly Bao. The Bao are like little Asian tacos that were fresh and tasty. The Ramen was everything my college Ramen experience was not! The broth was flavorful and delicious, and the ratio of veggies to meat was perfect. I can’t wait to try their other Ramen options, especially when the weather cools off this fall.

Worst… experience…ever They ran out of their main dish at a PRE-planned event. Who DOES that!!! They do, apparently.

It was decent until I discovered other places that served ramen. The pork bun was good but the ramen was a let down. It was nice to have on a cold night but the seaweed paper they add over took the flavor. The portion is not worth the price. You can go to a Japanese restaurant and pay the same price for more & better flavor. Sushi Master in Norman and the new Tamashii in midtown OKC are much better. This truck is super hyped.

How this has 4.5 stars is beyond me. There are like, idk, 6 things to order. My boyfriend and I ordered the regular soup bowl and he got a pork bao. Literally the most average thing I’ve ever eaten. So disappointing WAY overpriced. There was a legit non-hipster taco trucked parked next to it and my only regret in life is eating crappy ramen and not delicious tacos. Also when I went to throw my mostly full bowl away I noticed two other FULL bowls. Not a good sign… Save your money

GETTHEPORKBELLYBAO. Seriously. It is one of the best things I’ve ever had from a food truck. The pork belly is perfectly complimented by the cucumber. It is absolutely worth every penny; I’ve considered ordering multiples for a meal instead of one+ramen. The ramen is shoyu style, and always served hot. It’s not the best ramen I’ve ever had, but it’s definitely delicious and satisfying. They frequently sell out because it is so popular! You can catch them at Bleu Garten pretty regularly, and they post on Instagram their weekly schedule so they’re easy to find.

Finally had this place and it did NOT disappoint. I’ve def had better in Southern CA, but that’s not a fair comparison. OKC needs an real authentic ramen place like the food that this truck provides! The ramen was excellent and decently priced. Only problem are the ridiculously long lines for this food truck! But that’s a good thing I suppose!

Stalked this place because I can’t return to DC not having had some ramen. I ordered the shoyu and pork belly bao bun. The pork belly in the bun was great — a substantial slice with a sweet taste. The bun itself though was a little soggy and my cucumbers weren’t really«pickled». The shoyu broth was okay — a little thin, but had good flavor particularly toward the bottom. The noodles were average — nothing greater than out of the box ramen. The pork was a bit of a saving grace — it was more succulent than I expected from a truck. But since I only got one piece, that didn’t add much to my star rating. So, yes, I realize this is Oklahoma and this is the only ramen option here. But, I was just disappointed. It’s definitely not worth seeking out when there are so many regular restaurant options in this area.

Can’t believe I haven’t already reviewed this fine ramen food truck yet! I stalk their social media constantly to see where they are located for the week. They pick great spots throughout the city, and now that Bluegarten is open, it’s even easier to get to them. The ramen is legit. I was pretty sad when I relocated to OKC and found there was nowhere to get my lunchtime ramen-but then, a year later, Kaiteki opened! Dat broth. Those buns. Much umami. Very wow. But seriously… the broth is excellent. That is what is most important to me with ramen-good broth. It is the real thing– no short cuts. Great noodles. Gluten-free ones, too! Vegan broth options! They are so inclusive! As far as food trucks go-they’re organized, and make large quantities but still will sell out, ’cause they’re that good. Quick, efficient service. Clean food prep and clean truck with no sketchy business. The fried brussels sprouts and pork bao buns are delicious and inspired. Nom, nom, nom — something for everyone.

Great food at great prices. This was my first time experiencing fresh ramen and won’t be my last time eating Kaiteki Ramen.

I’ve spent some time thinking about how many stars to give this place, and I am going to have to stick with 3. I’ve seen the articles, heard the hype, and finally decided to try it out, so I got a pork belly bao and a bowl of ramen. While the flavors to the pork belly bun were fantastic, the pork belly was so difficult to chew that I had to tilt my head the opposite direction from which I was pulling the pork belly slice while chomping down to get it to tear to pieces. I heard it’s normally amazing, but I don’t really want to spend another $ 3.50 hoping it will be tender. Ramen is probably where I get heartburn though. Flavors were tasty, but it’s expensive as hell for a tiny ass little cup of noodles. They now use styrofoam bowls that could probably hold 3 cups of liquid, and while the ingredients are seasoned nicely, you get half an egg, a few bamboo shoots, a few strips of seaweed for $ 8… That’s more than a huge bowl of phở costs at a place where I can sit my ass down and not eat on a curb. It’s also the same price as Japanese-owned ramen shops in Vegas that give you significantly more food, all seasoned just as well. For flavor this place gets stars. For value they lose stars. I’m a big fan of bang for buck and offering something at a reasonable price. Now, I completely understand that people need to make a living. And I also understand that you charge as much as you can as long as people will still buy it. And people are definitely running for it. It’s worth a try, however, to make your own decision.

It’s soooo hard to eat hot soup in 100 degree weather, but dang if this ramen isn’t still delicious in the heat of the summer. The noodles are very buttery, so balance it out with an order of brussel sprouts and hot wings. Sometimes my husband and I will just eat straight up brussel sprouts for meal. They are. that. good. Be on the lookout for them at Weldon Jack’s on Wednesdays and Plenty Mercantile on Fridays.

Amazing service, amazing food, great choices that combines both Ethnic and Western cuisine. The truck is expedient, fast and aren’t afraid to recommend choices to new people who aren’t familiar to the ramen life. My picks: Pork belly bao, rice bowls and vegan ramen.

Yum! I have been wanting to try this truck for months, and finally got a chance today when they were near my office. I got the Kaiteki Ramen and shared some fried Brussels sprouts with my friend. I had never had Brussels sprouts before and was very weary(my dad, the least picky eater I know, doesn’t like Brussels sprouts), but everything was amazing. The menma(marinated bamboo shots) was probably my favorite thing in the ramen. I also loved the pork belly of course, and the broth was very flavorful and it was just so good. The fried Brussels sprouts had some tang to them, and the breading wasn’t heavy at all but added a good crunch. Definitely try this ramen if you get a chance. It lives up to the hype around town!

No brainer. When I see Kaiteki or hear a rumor the truck is close by, I feel a little evil laugh coming on. Because, you see, the pork belly bao and the fried brussels sprouts are so. *&#^#@ing. good. So when I saw Kaiteki tonight at Momentum, parked and ready to rumble, I, despite having a full belly, ambled on over and ponied up 10.50 for 3 pork belly bao… not for me, of course, nooooo. I bought them for(wink, wink) someone else. You know, a kind gesture. In case said ‘someone else’ might be hungry.(Eye roll.) If you haven’t had these treats yet, you should. Yes, you should. The ramen is good and feels healthy and nuanced and … [blah, blah, blah]. Not to dis the ramen(it’s so good on a cool night and well balanced and that’s Not What We’re Talking About Right Now), but *the pork belly bao*!!! *the fried brussels sprouts*!!! Sigh. End gush.

FINALLY a ramen place in OK! I got hooked on ramen in Japan, fueled the addiction when I lived in LA, and have been having withdraws since I moved to OKC. What can I say, I’m a ramen junkie and this place gives me my fix. If you’ve never had quality ramen you need to know something: the ramen noodles you get at most grocery stores is not real ramen(unless your at an Asian grocery store). As a matter of fact that stuff is plain awful. It’s like a saying Cheez-wiz is the same thing as mozzarella. So don’t be biased and miss out on an awesome food truck! If you’re new to ramen, or if you’re a vet just go with the plain ramen. It’s all a man could ask for. Try the Pork belly baos. Very tasty! The pros: 1) Legit ramen noodles 2) Good prices 3) Quick The cons: 1) It’s on a food truck, and it’s only available part of the week. 2) Be sure and check their twitter/facebook for when and where they will be. Be sure and check both as sometimes they update one and not the other.

Overhyped? Eh, maybe. But good? Yes! Strangely, I found the ramen to be the least amazing dish that they have to offer. Don’t get me wrong: it was good. I don’t think I’d order the ramen again, though. I know that sounds weird. Though, I would like to try the vegan ramen — just because. Kaiteki ramen 3⁄5 — Of course it was leaps and bounds above your ho-hum store bought ramen. I liked the texture of the noodles, but the broth came out a bit bland. Totally dug the egg in it, which is like«hey, what’s up?» in my provided photo. The pork belly was pretty decent but I feel like the broth made it somewhat bland as well. Fried brussels 5⁄5 — I know people hate it when someone says, «I normally don’t like this food product, but it’s AMAZING here.». Seriously, I hate that and I DO it. But these really are great. I didn’t buy them, but someone let me try theirs and it was so good! Whenever I get a chance to eat from Kaiteki again, brussels are happening. Pork belly bao 5⁄5(4⁄5) — My mixed rating is just because while it’s so delicious, the size is a bit… lacking. They are very small for $ 3.50. Their homemade bun is delicious. I could eat them all day. The pork belly is juicy and yummy, and the pickled cucumbers are… hnnng, good. Cucumbers? Yuck. Pickled cucumbers? YAY~. Spicy fried chicken 5⁄5 — If you’re a huge fan of SPICY, you’ll be ‘disappointed’. You’ll probably complain about it, like all of YOUPEOPLE do. «It’s sooooo not spicy. I prefer eating lava more than I do actual FOOD.» That’s my rendition of the ‘spice whiners’. But the wings are delicious. Cripsy, saucey texture and very flavorful and juicy.

I had high hopes for this place. My hopes were met and then exceeded. They did everything right. Coming from a marketing background, all of their actions to tease the consumer worked perfectly. They invited people out personally and gave out some VIP gift bags. Genius. I got to try everything on the menu except the Vegan Ramen(Me eat meat.) First off, their ramen. The pork was great and the seasoning of the broth was on point. My noodles were clumped up, but nothing a pair of chopsticks can’t fix. The Brussels were perfect. Crispy and flavorful. Julie P had a mouthgasm chowing down on them. The chicken wings were tangy and the outter crust was delicious. The meat was so tender too. It tasted fresh. The pork buns were really good too. But then, pork buns are always good. I’m glad the meat wasn’t too fatty to where there was a texture conflict. The sauce was excellent. I’d get it every time. They handled their grand opening really well. Completely organized even with long lines going on 2 hours now. This is a good step up in the OKC food truck game. I hope to see them in a brick and mortar shop one day. Also, I hope they add ramen burgers to their menu. Right now, they’re the only ones I’d trust to make it. I’ll be rocking my Kaiteki shirt around town. You should grab one too.

@KaitekiRamen. Yeah. Most of the time when things are hyped for a long time, you’re disappointed in them. Sometimes, the hype was right. An understatement, almost. Tonight’s grand opening of Kaiteki was a spectacle to behold. A line 100 deep, cool kids and families pulled from seemingly every corner of the city, waiting patiently in line, to be rewarded handsomely in ramen gold. I love that they managed to get food out quickly and hot even in a very high demand situation. That’s what they’ll be up against at popular events like H&8th, and to be able to do it so well on this, their first large-scale public outing bodes very well indeed. I tried the Kaiteki Ramen($ 8) — which comes with fresh noodles, ginger ale braised pork belly, egg, fish cake, and more stuff that I’m too suburban to know much about, but it was all delish. I also got to try the pork belly bao($ 3.50) which was flavorful and perfectly prepared, complete with a handmade steamed bun. The fried brussels sprouts($ 4.50) were some of the best I’ve had, which is saying a lot since I’ve been seeking out fried brussels for five-plus years now, since the very first time I had them at the Village Idiot in LA. So, OKC now has a perfectly branded Ramen truck with a spot on menu, on-point service, preparation and presentation, with a dedicated following right out of the gate. While devouring my hot, fresh, delicious ramen today, I had a thought. Eating that food, I could have been in LA, Chicago, New York, Seattle, San Francisco or Austin. But I was right at home, in my favorite part of the city, OKC’s Plaza District, surrounded by friends and friendly strangers. Gotta say it was a good day.
