The food was good nothing to be all excited about. It could of had been better. The tables were dirty and sticky the staff didn’t even bother cleaning up the mess from previous customers. It was an unpleasant experience.

I’ve got to update this to five stars. And a good tip — I think the late night staff is the A-team. La Frontera is super close to my house, so we came on the way home from being out one night. I think they’re open until 3 a.m. on weekends. The place was packed, even with families — much more crowded around 11 p.m./midnight than it was when we’ve been at normal dinner hours. Between the four of us, we had steak quesadillas, tacos, enchiladas and guacamole. Everything was so good. The steak had amazing flavor and even a simple meal like the quesadilla was delicious. The chips were tasty too — thick tortilla chips so you know they were homemade tortillas. Definitely check out La Frontera if you’re nearby, especially late! You won’t be disappointed.

We’ve been coming here for years. Love that it’s open late and we always love their street steak tacos and chili rellenos, nachos and chips with homemade guacamoles. So good!

I heard so many stories on how delicious this place is and I did not know about Unilocal until recently so I thought I would review. I went in the summer and the food was very gross. The place had gnats flying all over the place. In your drink, your food. Dead ones on the table. They were using an ice chest to keep drinks and using the same to put in cups. I left and never will go back.

A very disappointing place from start to finish. I was looking forward to visiting this joint since I’d read some good reviews. The idea of authentic Mexican food caught my attention. But it’s far from that. I’d say is a nice attempt to copy real Mexican food, but fails miserably. I ordered a «Torta Cubana» which is basically a Mexican sandwich with different types of meat, and everything felt and tasted old, not a good mix either. I thought I’d been unlucky so I ordered two tacos, a carnitas taco and one pastor taco, both are probably the most popular tacos in Mexico. I didn’t like them either. Carnitas had beef instead of pork, and that changes its flavor and texture a lot, and the pastor taco was by far the worst, it was meat soaked in a sweet sauce that tasted horribly. Never going back to this place.

This place is awesome. It’s like an authentic taco truck became an actual hole-in-the-wall restaurant, which is exactly what I was looking for. As a Californian, I am really sick of Texmex. Not that Texmex isn’t good, but all the chains taste the same to me and they are ALLOVERTHEPLACE. I was REALLY craving some authentic Mexican food and this place really hit the spot. Menu: The menu is legit in that I don’t know what half of it means. Food: The food is pretty basic in a good way. I’ve had the tacos, burritos, and tortas. No surprises; got exactly what I was expecting. The burrito had avocado slices in it, which was a nice touch! Hot sauce: They give you THREE difference squeeze bottles of hot sauce: two red and one green. They were all delicious and this is in addition to the generic brands of hot sauce they already have on the table. Ambience: Hole-in-the-wall vibe AKA hidden gem vibe. If you like street tacos or simple, authentic Mexican food, definitely give this place a shot. It’s my new fav taco spot.

The staff here is so friendly and good lord, it is fresh and authentic Mexican! Not West Mex, not Midwestern Mexican, but Mexican!

I like to think of myself of a taco conosoure. From San Diego to Miami I feel I have a pretty developed pallet when it comes to devouring tacos and burritos, this place NAILS it when it comes to making tacos, their street tacos are INSANE and there guacamole is OFFTHECHARTS! You’re not going to pay a arm and leg here like you will at some other places(i.e big truck tacos etc) You come to a place like this to get good food, no f*cking around. you get your food, you eat it, you savor the awesomeness that you just tasted, you tip, and you get out.

Two words: carne asada. The carne asada tacos at this place are so good! They are my favorite asada tacos in OKC(and I’m married to someone who has the goal of eating at every taco stand/taco truck in town so I’ve tried a few!). The tacos seem to be grilled while you’re waiting — no steam tray spoonfuls of soggy meat. The meat is flavored well and crispy with not a lot of fat. They even take the time to finely dice the radish garnish so you don’t have to mess with radish: taco ratios. Good red and green sauces, no frills. Have eaten in, and have gotten tacos to go, and they are the same quality. Another great hole in the wall OKC establishment.

This is the best Mexican place in the northern half of the city. I recommend the carne Asada tacos with the white cheese. Best I’ve had in any state. Enchiladas are also great. Good prices. Open late

Very yummy tacos! I always get chicken tacos with melted cheese and grilled jalapeños that I stick on the taco.

La Frontera, how should I put this lightly… is el crappola. I wanted this place to rock. I LOVELOVELOVE Mexican food! I have a little Mexican(Jose) that lives inside me & he even told me, «no es bueno. Usted debe estar borracho!» And, maybe Jose has a point. You might have to be drunk to eat here. Unfortunately I don’t think there is enough tequila to make me want this food. We started out with the Guac & chips. You can clearly see in the pics what kind of guac & chips we had. The chips were over fried in bad oil. Not only did they taste bad they smelled bad. The Guac had way too much onions & tomatoes & no salt or lime. It was awful. The tacos were worse if you can imagine that?! I have eaten carnitas all over Mexico & Texas & I have NEVER had any like this place serves. The carnitas were extremely dry overcooked pork that resembled pork jerky. Horrible. The barbacoa was no better. The Barbacoa tacos were so sweet we couldn’t even eat them. We tossed them in the bin. The tortillas were not fresh. Store bought & not warmed on the grill, they were served cold. The cilantro, onion & radish served on top was super fresh, however, did not cover up the fact the meat was overcooked/ancient/overly sweet. The two bottles of «hot sauce» were not even hot, only a hot mess. The lady at the front counter was very sweet. It’s self serve & spanish speaking only. I wanted to order the whole fried Tilapia but she told me they were out of it. The long neck Tecate & spanish soap opera on the TV was the best part of the meal. Maybe we came on a bad day and/or way too sober but I don’t think that was it. I think it was just no Bueno :(

Had a late night meet up with friends at this restaurant. Never knew it existed until this day. Went inside and was greeted by 2 nice women. I decided to order a chicken tostada and I found a seat. They bought my order to me when it was done and I began eating, very slowly. They have this sauce on the table that’s really dangerous. It was so hot that I was actually sweating heavily, which is usually for me because I love hot foods. I eventually finished and I really enjoyed the meal. I will definitely go back for seconds one day when I have the courage.

Come here after work, 4 times a week. It’s that good! Authentic Mexican food and amazing prices, awesome squared! Also, Friday and Saturday nights they don’t close until 3am, bring the group to eat great food after the bars.

This is hands– down my favorite stop for a street taco craving! I have been a loyal patron of La Frontera for over 6 years. The food is as delicious as the location is sketchy! Here’s the rundown: This is a taqueria(translation: taco shop) that is attached to a video/music shop located in a skeezy strip mall off of MacArthur. If you have a hankering for a street taco but don’t want to literally eat it in the street, this is the place to go!(On the north side. We will discuss south-side taquerias another time.) Service is friendly and fast. You will be intimidated/hesitant the first time, but after your third visit, this place will be your home away from home, your safe haven that has the bestest freshest tortilla chips and the best asada tacos in town! Recommendations: HORCHATA. This is a popular agua fresca(a delicious and popular cinnamon-rice-milk Mexican drink). La Frontera has the best. Trust me on this. If you are feeling unadventurous, go ahead and get the Mexican Coke. I’ll only judge you a little. GUAC&CHIPS. This is to-die-for. Chips are fried fresh-to-order. Guac is simple and made fresh-to-order as well. Avocado, onions, tomato & cilantro. You will have to doctor this up a little. Lightly salt the fresh-outta-the-grease chips. Squeeze two limes and a dash of salt into the guac. Stir and enjoy! TACOS. This is the bread-butter of a taquiera and they have it down. The meats I recommend(from best to good) is asada, carnitas, chorizo, lengua(tongue) and barbacoa. The tacos come with crunchy, diced white onions and cilantro, served on two grilled corn tortillas. Pro-Tip: Order these with melted cheese. Seriously– don’t forget this part! TAMALES. You never know when they will have this as it is an off-menu item, but if tamales are available, ORDERTHEM! Pro-Tips: **Request extra fresh-cut limes and a side of crema(Mexican sour cream that will change your life). Use the limes for doctoring up your guac and for those lime-lovers, to drench your tacos! Crema is a must for your tacos– so good! **Order your tacos with melted cheese. MUST-DO. **Eat your tacos properly. Squeeze the darn limes on them and use the house-made hot sauces. Red is smokey and spicy! Green is smooth and less spicy! **Cerveza is served here(if you are interested) **Come eat BEFORE11pm unless you want to get caught in a post-club fist-fight or see the greatest collection of matching snake-skin belts and boots ever. ** You can order at the counter, or have a seat and the lady working there will come by your table. You pay AFTER you eat. Also, don’t forget to give her a few dollars for a job well done! I’ve tried pretty much everything and the description above will provide guaranteed happiness. Feel free to branch out(I sometimes get the whole fried tilapia), but sometimes you just shouldn’t mess with a good thing. Buen apetito!

This is a very authentic Mexican restaurant. Not the Tex-Mex we are used to here in Oklahoma. Their menu has familiar items, it just isn’t the typical chips, salsa, queso kind of place. I ordered the taco salad and the chicken was so tender, it just melted in my mouth! My mom had a chicken quesadilla, amazing! My dad had the cheese enchiladas, and boy were they cheesy! My brother had the steak tacos, which were also great! If you’re not afraid to try a non-typical Mexican restaurant, then this taqueria is perfect for you!
