Wonderful staff. Just got my wisdom tooth out. So friendly and helpful and made me feel taken care of with attention to detail

This place totally drops the ball. My husband got imprints taken to get fitted for a night mouth guard. We paid for half of the mouth guard(250.00 dollars) and told it would be a couple of weeks. He soon got called back in because the imprints were not done correctly the first time. So he went back in to have them redone. After a month we called to inquire about the mouth guard. We were told they would look into it and get back to us. We never heard from them. After two weeks we called and inquired about it again. We were told they would look into and get back to us. So after two more weeks we called again and told them we needed answers by the end of the day. After all we have already paid 250.00. They did call us to let us know the lab apparently lost the imprints and he would have to come back in to have the imprints redone again! Unbelievable! They also don’t know how to work with the insurance companies. That’s a whole other story.

I was previously under the care of Dr. Chris Young until he joined the Navy and sold his practice to Dr. Alan Fortenberry. I decided to continue to see Dr. Fortenberry mostly because I was not keen on searching for a new dentist at the time. Dr. Fortenberry is a very pleasant person and very nice dentist, however, his current office staff and hygienist’s leave something to be desired. While in for my bi-annual cleaning this morning, I was caused so much pain by the hygienist«cleaning» my teeth(when it felt more like a mauling of my gums), I nearly got up and left but decided to stick it out and speak with Dr. Fortenberry about his hygienist. After voicing my concerns to him, I was made to feel like the pain caused by the hygienist, was my own fault. My concerns fell on deaf ears with Dr. Fortenberry which was very disappointing. Upon completing my exam, I was simply handed a card with my next appointment date & time on it and rushed out the door. I was not asked what date/time would be convenient for me etc. On top of everything, they forgot to give me my insurance card back. While I can hardly place all of the blame on the office staff for this, since some responsibility lies on me as well, I feel like a better method was available(i.e. immediately making a copy of my insurance card and handing me back my card). All in all, I will personally not be visiting Dr. Fortenberry’s practice again but I would not say he is a bad dentist. I just did not receive the care I had come to expect from him.

This place is now Legacy Family Dentistry. Apparently Dr. Young retired and joined the navy? Anyway, I was looking for a dentist and based on these reviews, decided to give this place a try. When I called is when I found out that Dr. Young was no longer there and that Alan Fortenberry had bought the business. Since they accepted my insurance, I decided to go ahead and make an appt. WOW! Everyone from the receptionist, to the aides, to Dr. Fortenberry himself — Absolutely phenomenal! No one«enjoys» going to the dentist, but these folks make the experience ALMOST pleasant :). The receptionist is fantastic — she will call your insurance to figure out what your total cost would be for non-preventative services(ex. night guard), plus she’s incredibly sweet and patient. By overhearing a conversation with her and another patient who did not have insurance, their costs are extremely reasonable. Best of all, Dr. Fortenberry is gentle, informative, non-condescending and definitely not a salesman trying to push unnecessary work/products. I HIGHLY recommend this dental practice! Note: the Unilocal map is off — this place is located right off of Expwy, in the same strip mall as the TJ Maxx.

All my life, I’ve had several things done to my teeth. Dentists are scary and intimidating, especially when they have a drill in their hands and you’re there, helpless, with your mouth wide open. After reading Amanda E’s review, I went to Dr. Young and met the best staff I have dealt with in any healthcare office. His secretary, Leanne, is the sweetest lady and she always makes you feel like you’re part of their«dental» family. Dr. Young’s assistant, Jennifer, puts you at ease even when she’s working hard on cleaning teeth. During one of my visits, I couldn’t stop laughing because everyone else was just cheerful and had good stories to tell. Yeah, that was probably not good, but I didn’t mind at all. Dr. Young is also very skillful and knows what to do to give you that best smile.

Any place that spends over an hour on the phone answering my questions, scheduling me, and dealing with my insurance info without giving up or making me feel bad deserves my business. I’m extremely impressed with this place. Yeah, it’s a drive to the office, but if you can take that drive then feel comfortable that the people working on your mouth are happy to see you then isn’t that worth it? So much different than the typical«gimme your money and lemme at your teeth» drive-through, heartless dentist shops you see anymore. Edit: 6÷14÷2013 This review is not entirely relevant anymore because the dentist sold his practice and went to help the navy as a naval dentist.

If you’ve got any fear about visiting the dentist, Dr. Chris Young will ease your worries. Once I was sufficiently numbed up, Dr. Young pulled my wisdom teeth in less than a few minutes without any pain at all. I was actually startled when he said«We’re all done!» because I thought he was still doing prep work. He’s great about answering whatever questions you might have and has a relaxed yet professional demeanor that will assuage your anxieties. His staff is also friendly and charming and will do their best to schedule you in as quickly as possible. Really, whenever anyone I know mentions looking for a dentist, I rave about Young Family Dentistry to the point where I’m sure my friends think I’m on the payroll(I’m not, I promise).
