Just moved here from California and needed a new optometrist. Checked Unilocal and found McBride Eye Center with 1 review and close to my house. I’ve worn glasses and contact lenses for 25+ years(I’m not old just worn glasses since elementary school… lol). When I called for an appt the staff I spoke with was friendly and quick to get me a spot that fit my schedule. I like that Dr. McBride sees patients later in the evening(I had a 5:30pm appt). I was seen promptly at my appt time and the staff is very organized. Dr. McBride was very courteous and formal(rather old school), he has a quiet bedside manner but he got my prescription dead on! Based on my ins.(VSP) his prices are extremely reasonable! For what I paid in Calif. just for glasses I got glasses AND6 months of contacts(I didn’t get generic frames either… designer name brand). He has a great selection of frames for men, women and children. I’m very happy I found Dr. McBride and have already recommended him to several people!

I’m glad to find a new go-to optometrist, and so far, these folks have been very good to me. Exam and glasses were very straightforward, and the doctor took time to listen to the concerns from previous providers and address them to my satisfaction. Perhaps most importantly, the prescription was right on this time and noticeably better than the last lenses I had. I also recently found myself needing a copy of my prescription on very short notice, and they came through quickly for me. Prices are a little high for frames, and they don’t make the lenses on site, so it can take a couple days to grab your selection. But these are minor issues, since they did a nice job with the exam and have friendly, efficient service. Note that Dr. McBride is an optometrist rather than an ophthalmologist.* I definitely prefer the optometrist because I’ve about had it with unnecessary testing.^ So if you need the MD part, you’ll want to look elsewhere. * Pro tip: An easy way to remember the difference is to give up, because there is no easy way to remember the difference.(Ophthalmologists are medical doctors.) ^ When I go blind, I’ll be sure to come back here and update this review.
