I’m always willing to try a new spot… Especially to find a good burger! My thoughts on this place– no, no, no. The burger is normal at best. The fries are hand cut, but not anything to write home about. The staff is awkward and uninspiring. Just go down the street to patty wagon if you want a burger. That’s what I wish I had done.

My first visit to «Old Fashioned Burgers» was on a Tuesday afternoon. I ordered the Tuesday special Onion Burger basket. It came with fries and a drink. The burger patty was my concern. It was flat and firm. These are the hallmarks of a pre-made patty. Disappointing at best. It’s flavor was a muted meaty flavor but better than I would expect from a manufactured patty. The onions were grilled just right. Perfectly yielding to the tooth they brought the flavor without a fuss. The bun was a sesame studded standard and provided the needed backdrop for the meat. It was like an understudy on a Broadway stage when the star is absent. The fries we’re homemade and didn’t disappoint. Evenly cut by the slicer they played their role well. Their golden brown presence help save the production. Is Old Fashioned Burgers worth a repeat showing? Probably not but by no means a critical flop.

And this is a perfect example of why you check Unilocal before going somewhere. This will not be on my best burgers list! Seriously, how is this place still open? There are better burgers all around this place. Ok, maybe Im exaggerating a little… the burger wasn’t terrible, it was mediocre… so why a 2 star if the burger was a 3? Because this place was just terrible, scary, dirty, etc. So I walk in… there is one guy eating at a table by himself, the rest of the place is empty. I stand at the counter for at least a full minute, no one there… this should have been my clue to walk out, but after having driven by so many times I was resolved to try this place. So finally lady walks in from outside and doesn’t say anything to me and walks into the back and starts talking to whoever is back there. Another 30 – 45 secs pass by. Then I finally hear her say that theres a customer and the other lady should help me. So I finally get my order in. Old fashioned burger with bacon and some tots. Now, Im kind of an expert. self-proclaimed anyway, and when I hear«old-fashioned burger» I tend to think of some special spread that oddly always seems to resemble 1000 Island, anyway, they don’t have that. They just go with mayo. Disappointing, but hey, their«old-fashioned» so they must know what theyre doing and itll be delicious, right? Meh. It was just a burger. It actually kind of reminded me of a Whopper, but a whopper isn’t $ 6. The tots were barely cooked and mushy instead of crispy. I also help like I got a half order… I mean the meager amount of tots for almost $ 3 was sad. I get the feeling that prices do not reflect the quality of the food, rather they reflect the need for higher prices to stay open. I will try and upload a picture later, but the floor was absolutely disgusting. It looked as though it hadn’t been vacuumed in weeks… which was weird since they were so slow and the one lady obviously had time to be outside doing who knows what. One other point, I usually never comment on the appearance of staff, but I swear that all the staff were tweakers. I have seen my fair share of tweakers in my younger life and these definitely had that appearance. If they weren’t tweakers, they had terrible hygiene. Just felt I needed to share that in case hygiene is important to you. It really made it un-appetizing on top of everything else.

I have always seen their sign with the huge burger and have wondered about whether it was actually open because I feel like I never see cars there. One Saturday, my boyfriend and I decided to check it out and it was basically what I expected. The décor is very dated and does not feel like a burger joint to me. It seems like it was something else before but they didn’t change it when it became a burger joint. Aside from the décor, my food was pretty good. I ordered the patty melt with mushrooms and it’s one of the better patty melts I’ve had. What’s unfortunate is that this isn’t a place I see myself returning to because the atmosphere doesn’t make you want to stick around really. It’s possible I would get a to-go order but there are plenty of burger places I enjoy more. I think if they freshened up a bit, they could have a chance at being really good and attracting more customers. There was only one other customer while we were there and one more who came as we were leaving. If it was that dead on a Saturday for lunch, I can’t imagine it being busier any other time!

I just can’t give this place 3 stars. I didn’t have an issue with the late 70s-early 80s décor or even the relatively cheesy music. I just found the food to be very average. It wasn’t terrible, nor was it excellent. It was just an all-around decent burger. The price for the burger was on par with every other burger joint in town, which was a little surprising to me, considering that there was nothing I found absolutely remarkable about the burger that warranted a price comparable to other burger prices around town.(Damn, that was a long sentence. I wonder if the punctuation was correct…) Overall, this is a decent burger joint… but compared with some of the other burger joints around town, this place can be passed up.

This place is just eh, nothing special or worth trying. My chicken sandwich was decent, and the fries tasted like frozen fries.

This place is great depending on who is making the burgers. In my opinion it used to be better. I still go here because I really dig their hand cut fries. It’s better than going to fast food.

I’m surprised no one has reviewed this place! I mean, the obnoxious large green sign and shady looking shopping center might keep you away… But for the sake of trying something new, why not give this place a shot? I left quite intrigued and impressed. Side note: Don’t expect glitz and glam. This place has seen better times and needs some TLC for sure! I think the food makes up for it in some ways. To preface my feelings of nostalgia… Chef Jeff Jackson created The Drugstore Burger which was inspired by the burgers he ate growing up in Oklahoma. After eating here I felt like I had a less grandiose, non farm to table Drugstore style burger. We all ordered at the counter and filled up our own drinks. I ordered the mushroom burger and shared a side of onion rings and tots with 3 other people. The patty was thin with a touch of flavor. I enjoyed the sesame seed bun because it was soft and didn’t fall apart. The negatives? Depending on who you eat with, the side portions might seem small(for Oklahoma standards anyway). The mushrooms were canned. Now, I don’t have a problem with canned veggies, but I’ve been spoiled with«gourmet burgers» and so. Ya, you pay for what you get. The prices are competitive with Patty Wagon down the street. I might venture back if someone wanted a old fashion burger that is not from Wendy’s. A-OK ’bout sums it up for me folks.
