Stopped in for a quick bite on a Saturday. Wasn’t sure what I was getting into, but YOLO, right? Walked in, and the place is small, but smelled amazing. You know that barbecue scent? Yeah, they have it… and it immediately made my mouth water. You order at the counter. The menu isn’t crazy extensive, but it’s got plenty. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and my partner ordered the chopped brisket sandwich. They both came with your choice of plain or BBQ Lay’s. There are three different sauces: mild, sweet, and hot. Let me tell you this… they are all three fantastic sauces! Our sandwiches were piled high. And there wasn’t all that gross fat that most barbecue places put in their pulled pork or chopped brisket. Just lots and lots of meat! Meeeeeat! We ate our nommy food up and were sad that we were finished. Full! But sad. Pappy’s is WAAAAY better than Rib Crib, Swadley’s, Billy Sim’s, and the other joints Oklahoma calls barbecue. It’s the best around, IMHO. Will definitely visit again!

Should have turned out and left after walking in. Place was dirty and did not have the normal good smells of a real BBQ /smoker. Food was not very good, looked like they had boiled the ribs them simi covered them with sauce and bake them, no flavor to anything. Still trying to figure out how they made pulled pork greasy and dry at the same time. I ended up with the runs later that day and the still having issues today. Will not be going back.

Pulled pork sandwich hit the spot for a cheap lunch! Smothered in sweet sauce and reminiscent of a sloppy joe. Yum!

This place is evil and ignorant. They have no idea what«clean» is and after experiencing some interesting illness in the bathroom I vow never to eat there again. The meats area Russian roulette; you get fresh one day and next you get week old roast turkey sponge. The meats are warmed over and over and if not for the wait staff noticing it I’d have been served even worse science experiments. Their drinks smell like mossy leaves, probably due to mold and fungi lurking about as well. Stay away from this barbecue pit of despair.

So, the food gets 4.5 stars. I had the pulled pork and my buddy had the brisket. It was delicious. But during our meal, one of the staff was in the middle of an incessant rant to an older lady that I assume was the manager about shift schedule. I get that schedules are important… But it went on for at least 30 minutes and kind of destroyed a good meal. As much as I liked the bbq, the background chatter and discomfort from listening to a gripe fest will probably keep us from returning. Kind of unfortunate.

Ok, the MEAT, and I mean ALL the meat, is excellent. I have been back 2x and everyone gets something off the menu and we share at it. Love the smoked bologna! That’s my fav. Also, I always get 2 corns as a side, just love it. Don’t know what they do to their corn there but its a must for me…2x! :) Nothing like juicy corn to go with your meal. I’m a fan, see you soon Pappy

I’m so disappointed today with Pappy’s BBQ. When I moved to OKC5 yrs ago, this place was the best I could find in town. Today, I won’t be going back. They had a fire a few years ago and it’s been going downhill since. Do yourself a favor and drive another mile down Reno and go to Earl’s Rib.

Two words: Boiled. Ribs. Ordered ribs and a pulled pork sandwich. The ribs were gray, no bark, and no smoke ring. Obviously boiled. How the hell can someone open a BBQ place and boil their meats? The sandwich? No smoke ring, no bark. Not sure how the pulled pork was cooked, but it wasn’t smoked. This isn’t a BBQ joint. This is a farce. Two bites in and I threw the food away.

This place was very good. I got the two meat platter with two sides. Brisket, chicken, potato salad and baked beans. Everything was delicious but I especially enjoyed the brisket and the baked beans. I went with the mild barbecue sauce which was very good. It wasn’t overpowering or too tangy but just right. The restaurant is kind of a hole in the wall but very clean with friendly and attentive staff working there. Give it a try.

Super hole in the wall with DELICIOUS ribs. Came in 30 mins before close and the food was still incredible. Got the 3 rib combo with 2 sides. Perfect size meal and the mild and sweet sauces were very complimentary to the food. Plus the 2 ladies working were SUPER nice. Awesome find for some delicious BBQ here in OKC!

This is a fairly average BBQ joint. Cool building interior/exterior, good menu options, inexpensive prices, large serving sizes of meats and sides. I tried the big pig, with brisket, ribs, and pulled pork. I got two ribs, and a piece of pork that was cut to look like a rib. The ribs were delicious, but the non-rib, was chewy. The brisket was OK, nothing too impressive, and the same goes for the pulled work. The corn on the cob was pretty bad, likely overcooked by a full day, but the coleslaw was lovely. The service was great, and they had a nice private parking lot and a drive thru.

The employees are so friendly and nice. The food was made very fast, and it tasted very very good. The place was set up like a small town BBQ joint, complete with western/BBQ décor and music. I loved it there. Highly recommend.

My first time here. Borderline 4* restaurant. I was going to rate it a 3*, but at the end of my meal, the owner called me by my name and asked how was the food. Points for friendly, customer service! I like mom & pop shops, because the ones that survive, they work hard to maintain business. I’m not the pro bbq guy, but I eat a lot of it if it’s in my face. Hahaha For $ 12 after tax, I ordered the 2 piece meal(I was on my lunch hour) ribs and brisket w/green beans & corn on the cob. The PROS is that Pappy’s bbq has ridiculously FAST service(got my food in less than 2 minutes), ribs were soft, brisket wasn’t dry, and green beans are pretty tasty. The hot bbq and sweet bbq I believe are home made and they tasted pretty darn good. Condiments are by the drink station and everything you need is fairly within arms reach or a couple steps away. The CONS is that ribs didn’t have much flavor, brisket tasted a little more water like than juicy, and I don’t know if I just happen to get a bad batch of corn, but I couldn’t even take a second bite. The texture was like dry plastic and taste currently indescribable. I LOVE corn, like I’d buy 3 corn on the cob at the State Fair. Again, I think I just happen to get a bad batch of corn. I do believe in second chances, and unless someone else agrees with my corn story, I’ll try it again. With the bbq sauces, it made up for the flavors of the meats. As long as it isn’t dry, I’m good to go. Food wise, it’s 3* in my book. All the workers, even in the back, greeted me when I was ordering so that’s a plus. I like service. I work in service. Customers love it when you know them by their first names. P. S.90% of the time, I eat bbq at 11 – 1230(lunch) or 6 – 730(dinner) for ultimate freshness.

I had the pleasure of eating here 5 or 6 times during some job related training in OKC. Just like everyone else in OKC, the staff here is genuine, warm and welcoming. I felt like I was walking into mama’s kitchen every time I ordered. The selection of sauces is great at Pappys– there are a variety, and the spicy one is awesome. Pork ribs? Check. Brisket? Out — freaking — standing! The sides are all tasty, and the iced tea is just right to wash it all down. As a snotty New Englander, I can tell you that Pappy ’ s is LEGIT. Run down looking and not in the best part of town? Check! That’s part of the charm, and I will tell you that this will be my very first meal as soon as I’m back in the OKC! There are a lot of pretty tasty meat spots in the OK-city, but Pappy ’ s is at the head of the class.

Fantastic! It’s about the food. Tremendous meats. Since I was«sport eating» I went for the«Pappy’s Big Hog» so that I could try four kinds of meats(one pound total). Also, my wife ordered a pound of the smoked white turkey meat. I had pork ribs, pulled pork, brisket and hot links. If you like really hot meat, you’ll love the hot links. My favorite of the meats? The pulled pork, as it was incredibly moist and had a touch(not too much) of garlic in it. The baked beans were outstanding. I hope I get back to OKC soon to come back again. Needless to say, we took a ton of meat with us.

Seriously, this is probably the first time Unilocal has let me down. I don’t know what all the people on here are talking about. I have had trouble finding decent BBQ in OKC so far(I have found 1 or 2 so far), but a town full of mediocrity does not up the stars. I watched as my brisket was pulled form a crock pot… That is just unacceptable. The only reason they get any stars is because the ladies running the show seemed nice enough. I really don’t like giving bad reviews, but BBQ pulled from a crock pot? Ugh…

I’ve recently moved to OKC, all the way from San Jose, CA. Trying out the various BBQ joints in the area has been a priority of mine. Pappy’s BBQ did not disappoint. Great selection of meats. I went with the Big Pig(3 meat combo). The sliced brisket had great flavor, and pulled apart nicely. The pulled pork has a nice balance of meat and fat, and the hotlink was just fine. Most impressed with the prices and ladies running the show. I’ll be back.
