Nothing causes me more anxiety at a restaurant than a menu touting a tempting pork chop served with haricot vert and creamy polenta. You see, I love pork chops. I love pork. But, I have, time and time again been disappointed at restaurants across the country with a tough chewy bland piece of meat… wishing I had gotten the ribeye. Patrono, however, stands apart. Their porterhouse pork chop is near perfect… tender, juicy, subtly brined and seasoned and grilled with just the right amount of sear. And the creamy polenta, OMG… it is so smooth and delicious it seems to vanish over your tongue… making you wonder… is this really polenta? Yes, it is. The wonderful flavors don’t stop at the pork chop and polenta. The insulate bisteca is delicious as is the bricked chicken. Pasta are fresh and flavorful. We’ve had specials including mushroom risotto and eggplant caponata and veal. The tiramisu is brilliant. Made only mildly sweet and with a good strong coffee flavor. All, of course, leaving you wanting more on a return visit. They have an excellent Italian wine list but, more importantly, an excellent bar tender, Montgomery. He knows wine and will kindly steer you in the right direction if you’ll let him. The service is excellent… friendly, attentive and knowledgable. The space is comfortable and welcoming but on busy nights seems a little crowded and tight. The food and service always shines and its a great place to grab a meal before heading to Music Hall down the block.

Last night my friend and I took a chance on Patrono in downtown Oklahoma City and were really impressed. The service was fantastic, the food well prepared and the atmosphere was lovely. We’d encourage you all to put this on your«to try» list ASAP! We started with the Beef Carpaccio with garlic aioli that was delicious! And the perfect size for an appetizer. We shared two entrees: 1. Chicken al Mattone: airline chicken with faro(my favorite) and salsa verde. This salsa is more Italian and very flavorful. 2. The special. Unfortunately I didn’t take a picture of the menu to get the correct name, but this dish was awesome. With Italian sausage, red bell peppers, tomatoes and those adorable noodles all tossed in a light, flavorful tomato sauce. Scrumptious. We finished the meal with a cannoli and tiramisu. The cannoli was traditional Italian. Not very sweet. The tiramisu was yummy, but had a strong coffee flavor that overpowered the dessert. The service was phenomenal. We felt well taken care of and never forgotten. The manager came by our table several times to make sure we were enjoying the meal. I’ll definitely be back!

I really enjoyed this restaurant. The food was great, the salted cod croquets were amazing. They even let me in a few minutes early(10 minutes) with open arms. My server was nice and attentive as were the support staff. I never lacked water, and was offered dessert by another server who got my order placed. The only gap preventing a five star review was the wine pour. It was a very small pour for the price. I’d estimate a 4 oz pour. The syrah was delicious though.

Patrono offers Italian cuisine for above average prices. The Mrs and I headed to Patrono for a late night dinner. We expected to be knocked over by stellar Italian cuisine, a terrific atmosphere, and above average wines. It was a fine evening, but nothing truly notable. We arrived about 2 hours before close on a Friday night. We deferred to the recommended the Orecchiette Calabrese and Linguine Vongole. Both were tasty, but neither were amazing. We enjoyed pleasant wines, but nothing that knocked our socks off. Their on-the-house bread and olive oil was good, but the bread was so much better when we requested butter. We were seated close to the kitchen and were subjected to hearing what the kitchen staff intended on doing after work – I could have done all my life without knowing their late night Friday plans… you really don’t want to know. The staff was nice, the food was fine, and the prices were a bit steep. I don’t think we’ll be heading to Patrono again on a whim any time soon.

Simple and exceptionally flavorful food. If the Butternut Squash tortellini with brown butter and sage is on special, order 2! It’s so good! Fantastico! We came super late on a Friday and they were not busy at all. Seated us next to the window near the bar, and I have to say I really enjoyed the ambiance even though there is not much to this place. That is what seems to make the food stand out even more! Manager was a familiar friendly face, however our waiter struggled a little to know what was behind the bar and also what the kitchen had run out of so far. Overall a great little place to check out and although a little pricey, i.e. $ 17 for 6 tortellinis; we will be back to try more of their authentic Italian! And more of their fantastic wine list all from Italy. Add some heaters and a cute outdoor patio with strung lights and I promise this place will be the talk of the town! p. s. Having stayed in Siena, Italy for most of our honeymoon we loved the tribute to the gallo nero, aka black rooster! We learned all about the DOCG Chianti when we were there.
