This place is like stepping on set of Mad Men! Where is Don Drapper at? Drinks are delicious. Food is perfection. The back room is perfect. Definitely will be going back!!!

Great drinks, great food, and a wonderful outdoor seating area. This is a great place for a few after-work drinks. The service here is attentive and thorough. Try their old fashions. You won’t be disappointed!

Hmm… The mixed drinks are the reason you should visit, the food might suit your fancy but I felt it was just, «okay.» My wife and I both the started with a mixed drink, she got a Grasshopper, a cookie flavored alcoholic milk shake, while I had a whisky sour. Both were great, although she felt hers was too heavy and thick and should have ordered it as a desert… customer error. I ordered an Old Fashioned next and it was excellent. The food, both fancy named open faced sandwiches, mine with a side of Mac and Cheese and hers with a baked potato were well priced but not too amazing. As an appetizer we had East Side Chicken, trust me I would rather eat Bo-Bos smoked fried chicken anyday…

RG’s is a small bar with a covered patio. The feature live music on certain nights. It is an intimate venue with a full bar. It can get very loud, especially when the regulars come in. But the bartender Luke was friendly and made good mixed drinks. The food menu is very strange, and fairly expensive. But if you’re going for the full experience of the supper club, it’s a neat venue with quality mixologist bartenders.

A swanky place to enjoy some good libations! A trifecta of great location, sweet atmosphere, and reasonable prices have me sold on coming back again soon! Thanks for the recommendation Shay! My 7&7 was a great drink but I’ll have to try the Grasshopper ice cream cocktail you had! :)

Poor service, won’t be back. And do not recommend to any friends /followers. After ordering drinks at the bar and finding a seat at a booth, we were never greeted by a waiter. We waited until our drinks were empty before asking a server for help. Said server was sitting at the booth next to us with his friends, but still«working”/on the clock. We got fries and drinks, but it seemed like a huge inconvenience for him to wait on us. When the friends of the waiter in the booth next to us left, they told us that we are«terrible people». Not sure how spending money at a local establishment makes me a terrible person, but I’ll take my business elsewhere next time.

This place has a really cool vintage vibe– as mentioned by everyone. The inside is VERY intimate. a.k.a. tiny. Like to the point where you may not enjoy yourself here if you are a claustrophobic kind of human. I personally had no issue with it. The patio is cutesy. Astroturf and gaudy décor. It’s fun, but there are much better patio scenes in OKC given this is in the middle of a parking lot. and it feels like you are in the middle of a parking lot. The menu seems… random to me. An eclectic array of things, none of which shouted out«EATME». I am usually the person who finds 5 things on a menu I can’t live without and orders multiple of them… but not here. The brunch menu is slightly better than the usual menu. The«DJ brunch» is fun, although I think the music was a little too loud for the small patio. everyone was screaming to one another the entire time. Because the menu doesn’t do much for me I haven’t actually come and eaten a full dinner here. But I’ve had brunch and a few bar bites. Everything was decent. Nothing to write home about. The cocktail list is swanky and I’ve had some tasty drinks here. Above average in that regard. Brunch deals for mimosas/champagne are a good value. In general the service I have received here has been slow. Even when the bar/restaurant itself does not seem busy. The waitstaff has all been NICE… just a little… spacey? Better service at the bar then sitting elsewhere. Overall, this is a place you should visit at least once to experience the vibes. If you like it, come back, and if you don’t then mosey on. There is enough appeal here for me that I have been there multiple times and I will be back, but I never think of it as my first destination of choice. It’s really close to a lot of other OKC hot spots so you can walk somewhere else if you’re left unimpressed.

Too many good things to say about R and J, I’ve never had a bad experience here. I don’t eat the food so nothing to say about that, but all the drinks are well made and inexpensive. The staff is friendly and the place is intimate enough to the point that you have no option but to speak to other patrons. Good place for a meeting or a job interview, from personal experience ;)

I can remember this décor from its first incarnation, if vaguely. My granddad aspired to the same vibe(minus the booze cos that’s the kind of people we were), and considered it the epitome of high style. Maybe it was, for a few years in the early 60s. I reckon most of the younger set will not have had person experience with flocked wallpaper or red padded banquets, so it may give them a little thrill of stepping onto a film set or some such time travel fantasy. It’s fun, in a kitschy way, and works by not taking itself too seriously. The lighting is perfect — warmly dim, but adequate for people watching. The absence of television is a big plus; without the distraction of an obnoxious flickering screen on every wall one can more fully experience the moment, be it savoring a cocktail, chatting with the bartender on a slower evening, or admiring the saucy vintage paintings tastefully presented on the wall. If you simply must check the game, there’s a recently added den around back and up the stairs, where you’ll find one television and some cozy, era-appropriate seating. I can’t speak for the food as it’s a bit too meaty and pricey for me, but give it a try; maybe it’ll suit you.

I love every thing about R & J Lounge. The retro cocktails(they make a lime daiquiri!). The food is so good. One of the best brunches in town. I’ve been for dinner also. The shrimp and grits are so yummy. No one in town makes hash like their dirty hash. Potatoes with truffle oil are outstanding. Mac ‘n cheese, lobster roll, beef stroganoff, steak frites… never had a bad meal here. Service is OUTSTANDING!!! Old school, 70’s chic. I love their glassware. This place makes me HAPPY!

The first time, I went to check out the reputed retro vibe. The elegance, the dark interior, the Mad Men era swank. And, of course the menu. Because if I know anything about food in Oklahoma City, it’s that Russ Johnson and Jonathon Stranger are dynamite in the kitchen. Kitschy place or not(and it’s not, though I probably couldn’t care less if it were), I knew that the food would be delicious. The menu is on the heavier side, but it’s *eating* food. Guilty pleasures, well-executed, without a steep price tag. That East Side Chicken is dangerously tasty. The relish tray, in my opinion. is best enjoyed with 5 choices, versus individual choices. The Special Salad is enormous, and I might suggest you store away half of it for the next day’s lunch or dinner. Also: lamb burger. As good as the food is, though, the bar is what draws me to R&J repeatedly. It’s cozy inside, and the bar is small, which makes for a more intimate hello. There’s a TV in «the den», but not in the bar and main dining room, thank goodness. The drinks are reasonably priced and well-shaken(or stirred). The Old-Fashioned may not be gilded with a {cherry}, but it’s pretty fine all the same. Minor quibble: Champagne Cocktails and French 75’s come in a glass that may be difficult to drink from. I like to request alternative glassware at R&J when I have this type of drink. Go jam on a Wednesday night, when the music is live. You might decide it’s one of your new favorite places.

So this review comes after a couple of visits to this establishment. And let me preface this by saying that my jeans fit me like a normal 35 year old gentleman, my facial hair isn’t in the form of Rollie Fingers, I keep my pants up with a belt, and vests are worn as the third piece of a suit. All of this being said, R&J makes me feel comfortably at home. Their food is warm and cuddly, a term my girlfriend would likely use, their drinks are most reasonably priced, from what I remember, and the ambiance is most comparable to the bar Butch met Marcellus Wallace at in Pulp Fiction. Hard pipe hitting. Try some Mac and cheese and when the summer rolls around, the lobster roll. See what I did there? If I had one criticism and of course I do, I would drop the Lobster roll from the menu during the winter months. Great job here, everyone, really, really great job.

We came for brunch to try the food and loved it! I had the shrimp and grits and my fiancé had the green chile breakfast casserole. He did say the portion was a bit small(especially compared to the rest of ours), but he liked it. I loved the shrimp and grits and added some Sriracha. This is one of our favorite spots — great ambiance, great drinks and great food!

I’m really torn between 3 and 4 stars. 3.5 is probably a better summation of my feelings towards R&J. Like other reviewers have said, it’s tiny with an absolutely ‘60s retro ambiance. I’m glad I came in the middle of the afternoon, because small, crowded bars are just not my thing. And it seems pretty likely this place will pack out in the evening! I tried the french-fried shrimp and hush puppies, which were very good for the most part. The shrimp had this lingering aftertaste that I can only describe as «too much pepper.» But the hush puppies were bomb, and I’d happily eat those any day. Since I was drowning my sorrows over the fact that my apartment complex closed the pool the day before the 4th of July, I opted for a tiki drink, which sadly did not come in a tiki glass(even though I could see plenty of them sitting behind the bar…) Note that the tiki drinks were pricey. My Singapore Sling was good, but not $ 12 good. I wish I had gone for the more inexpensive options! But overall, R&J ain’t bad. I’m not sure if I’d go out of my way, but if I’m in the Midtown vicinity, it seems like a decent place to stop by for a drink.

First trip here and in the 4th of July, no less. Cool, old school vibe it’s, small with only 6 tables and maybe 10 bar seats. The drinks were good and the food was really nice. Only one server, but they weren’t busy when we came in. I had chicken and waffles and my girlfriend had the special salad. Both were delicious. Good portions and food was hot and fresh. Only one complaint– the music r from the kitchen was too loud and modern, obviously the staff was back there rocking. Not cool because the 50’s music sets the theme. When you can hear music from the kitchen, not cool. Mgmt needs to get that fixed.

From the second you walk through the door at R & J, everything is different. The music sends you back in time, the dim lighting is immediately comforting, and the seating invites you to stay for hours on end. Be sure to ask about specials! They’re the only restaurant in OKC with champagne on tap!

R&J is a must visit for the atmosphere, plus you won’t find better drinks nearly anywhere. If you enjoy the style of the 60s, you’ll feel right at home here. It isn’t very big inside but their patio has a good amount of seating to make up for it. They even have it covered in the winter and the indoor/outdoor fireplace makes it nice and toasty outside! I enjoy the people who come to R&J and my service has consistently been good. For the food, I’m really not the biggest fan. I’ve had the lamb milanese and east side chicken, which both didn’t satisfy like I had expected. I came for brunch another time and liked it better than dinner though. Ultimately I come here to partake in the libations and hang out with friends. I say skip the food here but try all of the fancy drinks! They are also a lot more reasonably priced than the food.

I have a new love in my life; it is R&J. I love, love, love the retro vintage lounge, complete with leather, a fireplace, and jazz music(live every Wednesday night). I imagine they have many leather bound books and their apartment smells of rich mahogany. They are that cool. Their 4-season patio is pretty awesome as well. However, I get the mixed reviews. It’s a small place with a limited menu. I would never bring my mom here or a baby. It just isn’t that kind of place. They are serving a niche market and I fit into it perfectly. Just be prepared for classic appetizers, entrees, and cocktails. I have tried several of their food options and can see why some of the reviews are mixed. The East Side Chicken just isn’t Bobo’s. But their Caesar salad and the lamb burger taste so good it makes me wanna slap yo’ mama. So just be adventurous and realize that certain items may not be your cup of tea and that’s ok. A great time to try some menu items is during their happy hour, which is daily 2p-5p. They have several of their appetizers half priced. I personally am looking forward to trying their weekend brunch. But let’s be honest, the real highlight at R&J is the cocktails. Most recently I ordered a Greyhound(gin and grapefruit juice) for $ 4.30. That’s right. Cheap. I didn’t taste an ounce of grapefruit juice and let’s just say that one cocktail will do the trick. Another favorite is the equally potent R&J Grasshopper which has ice cream, chocolate, mint, lots of liquors, and magic. Man is it good. And for $ 5.20 it can’t be beat. All this talk of cocktails and lamb burgers has my craving me some R&J. Now, if you excuse me I need to go get in my car.

I heard about this place from my trainer and decided to check it out with a friend of mine. I was a bit surprised at how little the indoor space was when I first walked in. You walk straight into the bar and there is a small back area with about 5 tables. It’s all open seating so first come first serve. Given the right weather conditions the outside area would be much more ideal than the inside. The outside has AstroTurf with several white metal garden seating. It was a bit cold. But the fire place and patio heaters made sitting outside comfortable. I didn’t eat but I looked over the menu and ordered a Tom Collins and a Mint Julep. The Tom Collins was less than impressive. It was watered down and tasted a bit bland. The Mint Julep was fantastic. Looking over the menu there isn’t really anything special about the menu choices. I’ll have to come back for an actual meal so I’ll reserve my judgment on that. Overall my first time experience was okay. Not bad enough to warrant a 3 star and not good enough to warrant a 5.
