This is an excellent choice for authentic food from the subcontinent. The veggies are fresh and cooked to perfection. Spices are balanced and the naan is second to none. A large variety, large portions, and nice complimentary extras(spice tea and rice pudding) put Sheesh Mahal over the top to 5 stars.

Modest restaurant. Very authentic. The food was really tasty. We had chicken kabob, cheese naan, chicken biryani and tikka masala. If you don’t like spicy food this is not the place for you. Their regular was still very spicy. Next time I’ll ask if is possible to make less spicy. Lol Service was also very good. Friendly staff. They gave us complimentary dessert also.

This may be my new go-to place when I’m craving curry. There are just so many options and everything we had was excellent. At first glance, I thought the portion size was a bit small, but it ended up being perfect when accompanied with naan and rice. We tried the butter chicken and the karai chicken. Both were really good. They also had so many varieties of rice and naan that I can’t even begin to recall the options. One thing of note, which is probably among the most important is that they seem to use notably less butter and heavy cream than the average Indian curry place. We didn’t even feel slightly sluggish when leaving, when normally the day is over after Indian food. I also make my own Indian curries so can appreciate the lightness of the food. The lack of excessive cream/butter makes this place a more viable option for lunch, since it will not render me unconscious for the remaining daylight hours.

On our road trip to the east I was tired of regular restaurants so decided to try something different in Oklahoma. The prices are great the amount of food is a good size and the food was delicious. At the end of our meal we were offered rice pudding which was a great treat. If tour in town or on the road traveling and are tired of the usual America food. Definitely try this place out. I love tasting food from different cultures and this place will not disappoint.

If you’re expecting elegant ambience, go elsewhere. Seriously. This place is all about the food. It’s not a large venue, and might seat 25 customers comfortably. Rich, spicy Urdu fare — very similar to Punjabi food. Expect lots of meat and butter in the food, as well as pungent spices. Very friendly family-run place.

My family of 6 ate here for the first time and it was AWESOME! Qasim gave us great service and made some great recommendations. We ordered 4 different curries and garlic naan. Before we ordered, we all got hot tea… which was really good and we also got a complimentary desert for the table. The restaurant was clean and we didn’t have to wait at all. We will definitely come back. You can’t go wrong eating here.

Maybe its because I’m from California and spoiled with great Indian and Pakistani options but this place did not quite hit the mark for me. It wasn’t bad but not the best either.

Service: 5⁄5 The owners are very great and bend over backwards for guests. My only concern is that they are probably used to regulars. I had never been there before, and they did not tell me that the entrees do not come with rice. The complimentary mint tea in tiny mugs was fantastic. Korma: 3⁄5 Naan: 5⁄5 Chicken Masala: 5⁄5 The chicken korma was different than korma that I have had at other Indian restaurants. The sauce was not as yellow or creamy, it was more clear with a different type of flavor than I am used to. The guy at the counter warned me that the chicken had bones in it, but I was not prepared for how many. I think there were more bones than chicken. I also ordered the naan stuffed with beef, and it was amazing. I sampled my friend’s chicken masala, which was also great. The color was beautiful, an earthy red sauce. When I come back, I’m going to try the butter chicken because it is mentioned glowingly in so many reviews. My friend, who had been before, warned me that, if you ask for spicy food, it is almost unbearable. So I did not ask for my food to be spicy.

Food: 5⁄5 Service: 4⁄5 Cleanliness: 4⁄5 Décor & Style: 3⁄5 In terms of taste, the goat curry(very tender and non-chewy), the basmati rice, cheese naan(yes thats new to me), and garlic naan were all great. Spice was almost perfect(could have been a little more spicy), however flavor was perfect. Even the Chai Tea was yummy. Service was a tad slow. You order at the counter but then you get full service at the table. Waiting for the entrée’s took longer than other Indian/Pakistani places. The place was pretty clean, authentic looking, and smelled delicious, however the booth we were in had horrible sunken-in chairs therefore making me reach up for my food. My biggest complaint was the small entrée portions. I’ve had better goat curry, cheaper price, and very large portions. Overall the flavor and taste of the food is still a 5⁄5 in my book therefore I will be returning and trying other ‘small’ entrees! Even for the somewhat higher prices!

The restaurant is a hole in the wall with a ton of character. The employees are very nice. While I was waiting for my take out order, they brought out tea which was sublime and amazing. What a pleasant surprise to find a place like this on my short trip to OKC! The prices are great and there are a ton of vegetarian and halal options.

The food here is pretty good but certainly on the upper end of pricing. It’s an odd establishment, with fine dining presentation is a counter service atmosphere and décor. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala with a side of rice(surprisingly not included with the entrée) and some garlic naan, my general go to meal. It was tasty, but not really better than a buffet, and the portions weren’t as large as I had hoped for the money. It’s a tasty place to eat but I’d recommend other places for a better value.

This place would be a 5 but they don’t ever have any damn Kheer at dinner… Apparently there is a fat ass who slops it all up at lunch. Otherwise, the food is really good. The chicken is always cooked well and the Naan is bomb! The staff is very nice and I think this is the best Indian/Paki food in OKC. I hope that guy who slops up the kheer catches the diabetus. … Ok, so I have to give this place the coveted 5 stars for a couple reasons. First, the boss man stepped up his kheer game and it’s always available now. Second, after having their free tea a couple of times I’ve started to like it a lot… I damn near look forward to it. Lastly the service is really good. Everyone is friendly and the people who work there don’t look miserable. My wife and I go there at least 2x a month, sometimes 2x a week.

The other day, I texted my friend a picture of my to go order from Seesh Mahal, I knew he was at work and would not answer. Then I explained, goat curry. Immediately, I received a phone call asking where I was and how he could get some. I lied and said there was not enough to share, because I knew I would not be willing to share this delightful dish. The next day, after feeling like a jerk, I order more to go and dropped it by my friend’s office for him. He is more benevolent than I, as he shared with his coworker, to whom I explained, this is not a first date meal. I then said, yes, they will be repulsed that I am going to eat all of this food with my hands as tradition… she followed up with or fall in love. My response was I just cannot let that happen on a first day. As for the actual review, the building is not much, but it is fitting and they have added big screens for the menu that show pictures of the different dishes, which makes me want to try everything on the menu, because everything looks amazing. The moment you walk in the door, your mouth begins to water as the aromas for the complex and interesting spices hit your nostrils. The first dish I tried was the butter chicken(there is actually no butter in butter chicken, but the texture is buttery and smooth on your tongue). It is a rich creamy sauce with tender boneless pieces of chicken. Everyone with whom I have shared, has loved this dish. The biryani chicken hits your palette on many levels, with flavors such as cardomom, saffron, clove and dark meat chicken. Beware, there is a touch of heat in this dish, perhaps my friend is sensitive to heat in his food. Tied with the butter chicken for my favorite dish is the goat curry(spicy). It is tender goat pieces on the bone, the most tender and flavorful. I do not know what the spices are, but they are rich and flavorful, yet light and exciting on the palette. I have also tried many of the naan and rice flavors, I prefer plain naan and garlic rice. The brightness of the onions and garlic in the rice add flavor and freshness to any of the heavy dishes. I have tried several other dishes at other times, but these are the dishes that I would recommend the most. If anyone ever wants to go and wants any suggestions, guidance or a dining partner, I am in. As my mouth is watering now.

Traditional and authentic Pakistani food. My favorite dish? The Dum Beef… despite that unfortunate, tragic name, ouch! It was a beautifully balanced, savory, flavorful dish, I think marinated in cumin, coriander, and chili powder. It packs a lot of flavor and the rice definitely helped to temper the fullness. Hard to describe, easy to order! Best to just go check out the Dum Beef yourself. Tip: pair your meat dish with rice!!! With all the curry and spices, it cuts the taste. My friend had the Nihari beef, which is cooked overnight, served in thick gravy, with ginger, lemons, and cilantro. I didn’t like it as well as my dish, but then again I’m a spice-crazed fool! His dish tasted more like pot roast to me, yeah it fell apart in my mouth, but I need more! We also ordered some masala rice, spicy rice, and onion naan(traditional bread) and were very glad we did! Such extravagance in variety, taste, and texture. Wow. What a place. So much more to explore in the spice department, from goat dishes, to kabobs, to the ever-popular Tikka Masala, which I can’t wait to try. The set up here is a bit odd, with folks needing to walk up and order at the register, but then have table service throughout the meal. Menu on the wall behind the counter. If you are new to Pakistani food(like crazy ol me), this means you might feel rushed standing there looking at the menu overhead, trying to decide. I suggest asking for a TOGO menu and stepping out of line. The large menu posted on the wall does not have descriptive write ups, but the TOGO menu does! Warning: To Go menu is not quite up to date, with lamb dishes listed that they no longer offer, and missing things like the Dum Beef. But it does help. Read some other reviews too, and go armed with ideas!

This is my second time eating Indian food and my husband’s first time, so we went here for an early dinner. Why this place is not packed and a line wrapped around the building, I don’t know! The food and service was amazing! The girl at the counter was extremely helpful and the girl who brought our drinks was also very nice. We got a complimentary mint tea that reminded me of my youth, when my mother would drink the same tea. Our food, we ordered buttered chicken(I don’t like spice), curry goat and goat biryani. We got a side of basmati rice, garlic naan and cheese naan. Let me just say that I was so full but kept eating until my stomach hurt because it was that amazing! We paid $ 35 for all that food. This is our first time trying this place, and we found it because of Unilocal, let me assure you that we will be back! :-) Thank you for such amazing food!

I wish 3 stars weren’t viewed so negatively, because I still return to 3 star places! Sheesh Mahal just didn’t make it to that 4 star climb by mere inches, which a second visit may remedy, anyway. First off, the service here is fantastic. The man who greeted us a bit after the door was very enthusiastic and kind, as well as the woman who took our orders at the register. She was pleasant and outlined the available naan and rice to us when we placed our orders. As I’m sure many reviews state, there is complimentary tea which is pretty good. It’s very light on taste, but I think that’s something you might want when it comes to any spicy food. I also ordered their mango lassi, which is kind of yogurt’y… so like a Go-Gurt in a glass or something? That’s as classy as I can give ya. Honestly, the star of the meal was the appetizer which was the samosa chaat. It was fantastic –sweet, spicy, savory. And it’s large enough that it could easily be ordered for a meal for one person instead of a shared appetizer. I ordered the butter chicken for my meal and it was mildly underwhelming. It had some spice to it(I got it mild so it wasn’t anything crazy), but the taste just wasn’t there. That being said, there are tons of other good sounding things on their menu that I’m sure are worth a try. I already have a place for my butter chicken fix, so that’s no big deal. At the end of the meal, they brought out some kheer(rice pudding) as a complimentary dessert. Dessert is so rude. I’m already full by time that part rolls around. But I did have some of it and it was quite good! The almond slivers were a solid touch.

Delicious Indian/Pakistani food. First off, the people working there were very nice and helpful– they had some great recommendations for us since it was out first time in, and we didn’t feel rushed to make our choice. The samosas were a great start, and the sauce that came with was a perfect sweet compliment. We tried the chicken tikka masala and the paneer masala. Both were wonderful and spicy, and the paneer was creamier than I am used to. We both thought these dishes were tasty to begin with, but once we added in some of the green yogurt sauce that they served with the naan, we were in heaven. Speaking of naan, the garlic naan smelled amazing and tasted great. The masala rice, made with cilantro and served with onion and tomato slices, tied everything together perfectly. You order at a counter, but the table service(food delivery, refills, checking on us plenty) made us feel inclined to leave a tip. Looking forward to a return trip!

I’ve been around the world and back several times, so the exterior and interior didn’t bother me! Don’t be turned away by the exterior and embrace the interior! Sheesh Mahal is the real deal, if your looking for authentic middle eastern cuisine. Upon arriving we were warmly greeted, we walked up to the register where you order your food first! After you order your food, then you pick a seat and the food comes out to you. The cashier was very helpful, he asked us if this was our first time which it was. He took the time to break down everything to us, on the menu! For dinner we got: (2) orders of rice (2) orders of Garlic Naan (2) orders of Butter Chicken(1 spicy and 1 original) (1) order of Chicken Palak(chicken and spinach) The big winner is the Butter Chicken, which is VERY good! The Palak, was ok… I thought it had more spinach than chicken. Dessert: I don’t remember the name, but it tasted like sweet potatoes which was unique but good! Everything was VERY good, and everything came out fresh and hot. They also bring out complimentary tea, which was good. The staff was very friendly! We will definitily return!!! Remember don’t always judge a book by it’s cover…

Don’t let the exterior deter you, while it looks a little rough on the outside, the food is excellent and the service is very warm and friendly inside. The building itself doesn’t immediately look like a restaurant and the sign isn’t on the building so if you’re not paying attention, it’s easy to fly by. But don’t, definitely stop in! I was warmly greeted upon arrival. The server asked if I had any questions and he was quick to make recommendations. I ordered my go to comfort food, Palak Paneer. You order at the counter and they bring your food out to you. They served me complimentary hot mint tea, a very nice touch on such a cold day. My food was served very quickly after that. The Palak Paneer was loaded with lots of chewy bits of tasty paneer, it was a very generous portion. The spinach tasted wonderful and fresh and it was not overly creamy like some restaurants. It was a great dish and the perfect amount of spice. I ordered the spicy rice which had bits of cilantro and jalapeños cooked into it, they serve it with fresh sliced red onions over it and fresh cilantro and tomato. It was absolutely outstanding, I’ve ever had anything other than plain basmati rice at an Indian restaurant before. I also ordered their plain naan which was baked nice and crisp with a nice spread of ghee over it. I liked dipping it into their outstanding cilantro tasting chutney they served on the side of my dish. This dish could have easily been 2 meals but the paneer tasted so good I couldn’t leave it alone! I did take home a big serving of that magical rice that I can’t wait to eat tomorrow for lunch. Great food, nice service, and low prices. This will definitely be a regular stop next time I’m in OKC!

Showed up here on a rainy day. I totally love the slight grunge of the outside, which is only made complete with strings of blinking Christmas lights. It was the Christmas lights that sold me over to enthusiastically enter. Start to finish, the gentlemen serving us and taking our order were so incredibly nice. One of them kept coming back to check if we needed water refills, and they’d stop to make sure we liked everything. We ordered: — Butter chicken — 3⁄5. It is one of their signature dishes, and chicken was super tender. It seemed a little under seasoned though and could have used some salt. — Eggplant of some sort — 5⁄5. Eggplant was cooked nicely, and my friend wiped the whole thing out! — Garlic cilantro rice — 5⁄5. Now I know why they encourage people to get this! It’s delicious! Okay guys, I’ve eaten naan all over Asia, the Middle East, and America, and I’m used to it being crisp and toothsome with a lil bit of fluffy. Here it’s very hot and fluffy but lacks any chewy, crispy aspect. It’s very nice but eats more like a soft bread to me: — Cheese naan — 3⁄5. Fresh and hot. It’s not stringy, gooey cheese though. More like a crumbled cheese sammiched in between the two sides. Didn’t really have much flavor. — Garlic naan — 4⁄5. Very fresh, hot, and finished with a nice touch of cilantro. One thing I noticed is that they are very light-handed with the salt here. I would probably sprinkle a little on my food and throw some over my shoulder just to make it even better. Good Indian place to choose if you have high blood pressure problems. =) Before tip, our total was $ 24.95. People keep saying this place is cheap, but it does stack up quite quickly. I am really happy that we came here to try it out though it probably won’t be my go-to Indian place. Customer service was bomb.
