Come for the wine and stay for the vintner. This family run winery is a OKC gem and must do. Gary and his wife, Sherry, are the lovely couple behind Strebel Creek Vineyard. Sherry has a wonderful gift boutique filled with wonder after wonder. Gary ran the tasting room the day we went, and he was a gracious host. We sampled a wide variety of wines and were impressed with each of them. Our favorites were the Cabernet Sauvignon(big and bold), Chardonnay(French style stainless steel aged) and the Pinot Gris(which was very tasty and lacked the offensive acidity Gris is guilty of). These wines are all very good. So if you take a trip down MacArthur and you see the sign saying«gift shop and wine tasting open» stop on in and enjoy.

I feel like I stumbled upon my own little fantasy vineyard when I found this place! The staff is wonderful, and the wine is even better! I’m not typically a fan of merlot because I often find them bland… That is not the case with this vineyards version. It is a must try! I can’t wait to bring my friends back!

I cannot recommend this gem enough. I discovered it through a Groupon about a year ago, and went the day my Groupon was set to expire(coincidentally my birthday). They were thoughtful, knowledgable, and never once made me feel rushed during the tasting. Generally one of the best times I’ve ever had anywhere. I’ve since been back several times, for the wine and the overall experience. For starters, it’s located in the middle of the city, off a busy street, and you wouldn’t know it was there unless you knew it was there. From the second you park and walk through the vineyard, you feel transported outside of the chaos into a place that is uniquely Strebel Creek. It’s a magical place, with or without the wine. The husband and wife team of Gary and Sherry produce balanced wines that will even get a skeptic into tasting. Sherry runs a gift shop with jewelry and knick-knacks for everyone, think On A Whim but much nicer on your pocketbook. They both do what they love and it really shows. My favorite wine is their Firehouse Red(a sweet red named after the nearby fire station). They have a hard time keeping it in stock! I have yet to try one I don’t like. Strebel Creek is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays(!) and is a great place to order up a glass and take in the back view on their patio. In the past, they’ve been cash or check only.
