Black Bob Park

Love it! Great for kids… The only downside is getting to the bathroom with a five year old who suddenly realized she is about to have an accident if she does not get there NOW! If you can get the potty routine down, it’s all good in that hood.

Took my dog here when he was really little. Very nice and peaceful time with the family.

Black Bob Bay is the best swimming hole around. Two cool watersides, diving pool, lazy river and kids pool with slide.

Farmers’ Market is open! Come and get the fresh vegetables, fruit, baked goods, cheese and even eggs!
I lived in Des Moines, IA for a few years and loved the farmers’ market experience there. So when we moved to Olathe we were pleased to find one within a mile of our house. This market at Black Bob park may not be as we’ll known or large as the one in DM but it has everything you need without the crowds. Prices are comparable to the grocery store and the best part is you can meet the person who grew the food. Here are few more things I saw today, bell peppers, heirloom tomatoes, potatoes, blackberries, Missouri peaches, pecans, honey, jams, onions, herbs, squash, jalapeños, eggplant, etc. So grab a reusable bag and bring the dog along and check out this local hidden gem!

I haven’t explored the rest of the park at all, but the pool is awesome! I just moved to the area from California so my impression of public pools is always «eww, stay away» but that’s so not the case here. I think it cost 6 or 7 bucks to get in, a dollar cheaper for locals but either way it is reasonable. There is a snack bar where you can get snacks and drinks. There are usually plenty of chairs around all of the pools so even if you are there on a really busy day and can’t get one off the bat you can usually track one down at some point. There is a diving pool, a huge lap and play pool, and a kiddy pool, a play area that has a huge water bucket and lots of other water features, as well as a lazy river and a big water slide. I was really impressed with how clean the area and the pools were, and how many lifeguards are always present. This is definitely something we’ll frequent for many summers to come.

Great jogging trail that surrounds the park, I think it’s about 2 miles. Well maintained. The pool is huge (black bob bay) and they have a really pretty pond too.

A nice park, well maintained, features four lighted baseball fields (with batting cages nearby,) four softball fields, and a public pool. Plenty of parking. It’s a great community resource that I’m glad to have in the area. Check the website for information about summer enrichment programs for the kids, adult sports leagues, and all kinds of other stuff that goes on there.
