Progressive Firearms

Never a dull moment at Progressive. These days my driving skills are not what they used to be. I have gotten in many more wrecks while out on the road in recent years than ever before. Because of this I decided it was time to buy car insurance. With so many companies to choose from I was overwhelmed. I had heard bad things about the Gecko insurance, so the better option seemed to be Progressive. This is the location that I stopped by in order to purchase one car insurance. The service was friendly. I also enjoyed the atmosphere, the walls lined with lethal firearms made for a very exhilarating experience. However, I did not receive my car insurance.

My original review is below the asterisks. What happened after the class is what has caused an original 5 star rating to go to a 1 star rating.
I gathered my information to go file it today, 8÷29÷2013. When going through everything I noticed my DL# was wrong on the paperwork. I was pretty sure when I completed the initial information it was correct because after filling all of it out I went back through to verify. At the class we were asked to verify the information we submitted and I didn’t notice an issue. On the paperwork I needed to turn in a «7» was a «1» instead. Maybe my «7» looked like a «1», maybe I didn’t recognize it on the document in class, maybe the instructor just made a mistake. It really doesn’t matter, it just needed to be corrected. I sent an email on 7÷29÷2013 at about noon letting the instructor know the information was incorrect and that I needed new paperwork. I offered to pick it up whenever was convenient for him.
I never received a response so I sent another email late 7÷30÷2013, to make sure the original email was received. I copied his partner on this email and the next morning I got a response that he was going to process the information but got sidetracked. He told me he would take care of it that evening, 7÷31÷2013 and he would just email the paperwork to me. On 8÷1÷2013, I did not have an email from him. I sent another email letting him know I did not receive anything. Late that night he sent me an email saying he was having a busy week and was out of printer ink, so would take care of it the next day at work, which would be 8÷2÷2013. I never received anything. I even sent him an email about midday to remind him. Late afternoon 8÷3÷2013 I sent him an email telling him I was disappointed this hadn’t been resolved and if I did not receive the proper paperwork within a specified time frame, I would dispute my payment through PayPal. I received an email telling me again how busy he was, how I should have checked my info better, that he had done his best to get the correct information to me and he was sorry I didn’t understand, and ending with an apology that I had to wait and finally my paperwork.
If you don’t have time to run a business, don’t have a business. If you don’t have the demeanor to deal with the public and your business requires that, don’t have a business. If you feel the need to assign blame and make excuses instead of just taking care of the issue, don’t have a business. This was something that would take less than five minutes to deal with and the handling of it was terribly poor at best.
They may have good prices, but I would rather pay a little more for someone who is a professional business person. Take your money elsewhere!

I wasn’t sure what I would be walking into taking a concealed carry class. I was actually dreading it, but it was time to just do it. I expected to walk into a bunch of don’t take my guns, NRA is God, ‘Merica! types and that my entire day would be terribly uncomfortable.
This wasn’t that at all. First, the course is in one of the instructors home. This made the environment welcoming and relaxed. Both of the instructors running the class discussed a lot about not using your gun. You might expect shoot first and ask questions later, but they were really responsible gun owners who wouldn’t discharge their gun unless absolutely necessary, and they conveyed that message as what you should do also.
I was also dreading an all day class about guns. Seriously, what all do I have to know to carry a gun? A LOT!!! They covered so much information that I left much more educated in many things gun related and wanting to learn more. They cover types of guns, ammo, cases, locks, holsters, clothing, proper ways to carry and hold guns, how to stand, and most importantly the laws (and much more). I was impressed with the amount of information delivered.
The class moves at a great pace and doesn’t seem like an all day course. This was huge because it could have been a snoozer!
The actual shooting test takes place at Centerfire.
The price is the best I have found. This is a local business, a couple of guys with a side business outside of their jobs, and they charge a really fair price for the course.
If you are looking into taking a concealed carry class for either Missouri or Kansas, I would highly recommend Progressive Firearms.
They are also able to handle FFL transfers.
