Been going to this place very many years. I think 85% of my hair cuts were very good. However, not too long ago, I had this very bad experience where this lady made a very simple 15 minute hair-cut turn into a 50 minute painful experience. This lady kept combing, combing, cutting & combing, & combing & combing & combing. It got to the point to where I could barely refrain from grimacing in pain. When I finally got out of there & made it home, I looked in the mirror & my scalp was all red. My scalp burned in pain for like 3 days & was extremely painful to wash. I’m a guy & all I asked for was for it to be cut really short.

It’s a beauty school so expect the services to take MUCH longer than usual, but otherwise this a great place. –It’s very clean. –The instructors are everywhere and by the time you sit in the chair the students really know what they are doing. I have wavy hair that can be really fussy, but my haircut was great and has really stayed nice even as it has grown out a bit. –The mani-pedi stations are comfortable and clean, and the price is right. Again, remember you need to have time to spare, this isn’t a twenty minute ordeal. –I’ve been in when its quiet and I’ve been in when its busy but the overall attitude of the staff is friendly and helpful every step of the way. I tend to return where I’m treated well, so I’ll be back. –Try the custom facial, the value is tremendous and its the perfect treat to pamper yourself!

I am a graduate of Xenon and while I feel my education was great. The experience overall was a RIPOFF!!! The administration is terrible, they have no idea how to manage your financial aid, they will not answer your questions with straight answers and if you need paperwork after you graduate they are right there to rip you off again! I would not recomend people to attend this school. Look into others schools, because you do not get your money’s worth at Xenon.

This place used to be decent. Now not so much. To my women of color: this isn’t the place to let anyone play in your hair. When you call to book they’ll say their students are all trained for all hair types. Ha! Huge lie. The 2 poor girls they put on each side of my head had no idea what products to use, or what oil sheen is when I attempted to help them out! They even attempted to flat iron my hair using product not meant for ethnic hair and in too big of chunks = FAIL. Dissapointing to call themselves a school but don’t teach the students the basics for all hair types before graduating them. In other areas that is the norm and many beauticians have noted this as well about Xenon as well as a couple of their own students :-( Eyebrow waxings is off as well. Last time they had to rebook me because you couldn’t tell they’d been touched afterwards. I hate to hurt feelings but what a joke this place became. I understand these girls are still learning but who is running these classes/overlooking them to help improve? Cmon Xenon, get it together. I really do wish I could add more stars but the students here are being herded thru and getting their tuition $ snatched up, not learning.

Xenon is pronounced Zee Non. Groupon offered a great price to try the services of this school. My friend and I used it for pedicures. The students were very nice but lacked the basic knowledge of how the pedicure chairs operated. We were both surprised we never saw an instructor and I noticed things were not as clean as I prefer. The people working the phones would benefit from some customer service skills training. The students did share some information about state laws for pedicures that we found interesting. There is a push by students and staff to sell products. Products that sell for full blown retail! The same products that are sold at JCCC School of Cosmetology for far less. One item I noticed was $ 27.00…the EXACTSAME item is sold at JCCC for less than $ 16.00. Something here just didn’t «feel» right for us. We went during the week and were the only clients there. It didn’t seem«typical» for a school environment. We tried this place twice… months apart… and had the same feeling both times

My daughter & I both went in for cut-n-color(her: highlights. Me: correction of a really bad home dye job), and we’re both pretty happy with the results. The visit took twice as long as I would expect from a regular salon, because the students naturally work a little slower anyway, and they are continually checking with their instructors at each step. But offsetting the slowness factor is the way the students continually communicate with the clients, more so than many salon stylists I’ve visited. This is what made the visit a success, in my opinion. My student-stylist asked me many questions about my style, my product use, my morning routine, my color history, &c. She wanted to make sure I was getting what I wanted & knew how to style it once I got home. It’s also a great value — under $ 40 for a basic cut-n-color. Win! The vibe is busy, noisy, and chaotic. The salon chairs are packed into the space like sardines, so it feels a bit crowded. Nonetheless, every stylist & instructor I saw was upbeat & happy, even in the midst of a Saturday crowd. They take walk-ins, but you will probably wait a while without an appointment. The school is a bit hard to spot from the street, it’s stuck in the back of a strip-mall with a long setback, but there’s plenty of parking. Bottom line — my daughter’s highlights look great & my awful color is now fabulous. At a bargain price. What could be better?

Extremely busy — at least on a Saturday. You definitely need a reservation, so call ahead of time. All of the stylists are students who are supervised by 2 educators who walk around the floor. My lady was very friendly and asked for assistance from one of the supervisors when she didn’t know what to do about a cowlick I had. The supervisor took over and gave her some feedback on the rest of the cut I’d received so far. The whole process took about 40 minutes including a shampoo, which is kind of a long time for what I got — 2 on the sides with scissor on top. Last month I got the same cut by a professional stylist at Great Clips in maybe 10 minutes. Overall, it was a positive experience, the cut came out ok, definitely not a professional result, but for $ 7 for a shampoo and cut it’s worth a shot.
