Best hiking spot on Long Island!!! It’s challenging and the scenery is breathtaking at times –I can’t get enough of this place!!! Plan to hike and run here regularly –it’s a treasure on Long Island!!!

Secluded trails in the middle of civilization. Went with this group who seemed to race hiking. Some difficult parts where you’re climbing over tree roots, rocks. Narrow trail that opens to huge meadow. Unfortunately, there really are no rest stops or places to sit. It continued pass the railroad tracks by crossing through an underpass and squeezing through a narrow opening. Also had to cross a street at one pt. there was a small grove of bamboo that was nice. Dog owners should pick up there poop. It’s the woods but you still smell it.

a little unknown secret, if you need the bathroom before or after the hike go into stop and shop next door :-)

I decided to try this trail and it was okay. Its not really well kept and I wasn’t a fan that it was so close to highways.

This is an extension of the paved path that runs from Massapequa north along the Bethpage State parkway through Bethpage park picinic area and by December will terminate at Jericho Tpke in Woodbury. NYS Dept of Transportation did it right. A wide paved path winding through the woods wide enough for people who walk, run and bike. Great place to take a walk or ride and de-stress.
