This place is the absolute worst!!! My mother went in today for 2 sandwiches: ham & Swiss and roast beef and provolone. We got turkey and provolone and roast beef and Swiss! Maybe they’re dyslexic. Then after asking him to fix the orders and getting an attitude she still came home with roast beef and Swiss! Both were the wrong size order too. Wow… nothing but terrible experiences here. The owner is rude and the workers don’t know what they’re doing. Stay away!

Great local spot for quality food. Fresh bread available. If you’re catering the Italian hero is second to none. If you’re grilling the sausage ring is god damn amazing!

The hot trays of chicken marsala, penne ala vodka, eggplant, sausage and pepper dishes were very good. They were tasty and hot when we picked up the order. Also we had two trays of cold cuts and cheese. Only one of the trays of food was edible, the meats on the other tray began to go rancid by taste just after the party ended several hours later. By the next day while in the refrigerator, they were completely inedible and had to be discarded. Although the owner claimed no foul, something obviously happened while preparing that one tray of cold cuts and cheese. Everything else was fine. We did not keep the cold cuts outside. They were transferred from the store directly to our refrigerator in our garage. This is where we chilled the beer and soda. There was plenty of room for the cold cuts and cheese. When we had the party indoors on the following day, they were taken out for a short time so people could eat and the remainder was placed in our upstairs refrigerator. Luckily nobody was sick. In short, we are very disappointed about the cold cut platter but more about the owner’s attitude to blame us for damage. It will be a very long time before we order anything from them again.

Closest thing to a NY deli in NJ amazing rice balls and potato croquettes! Great boars head cold cuts and also a couple homemade cold cuts that are phenomenal, all the sides and salads you can want, They have amazing breads and rolls as well. I highly recommend getting there breakfast sandwiches too!

The staff here is always helpful. I usually get dinners here for my mom and she loves everything they make. They also excel in catering. We used them for my daughter’s bridal shower and the food was fabulous. I highly recommend them!

I has been going in his store for 17 years. I went into the store the day after the blizzard. I noticed they had no blood there but I went up to the owner you are behind the counter and ask him do you have any bread., thinking that he might have picked some up at another location. He said«does it look like I have any» I can’t tell you how many times I have had a bad experience in there and so many of my friends in town have said the same thing. BUT food is good. !!! Customer service is terrible and the owners are the most obnoxious people I have ever met. I would never go there ever ever again… If you really hate your life that much sell your business and move into some cabin in the woods and be alone

Everything is simply amazing! You will not find better quality anywhere and their subs are second to none. Personally, their sloppy joe sandwich is my favorite.

Double D has excellent food. Theyre filet mignon steaks are the best Ive come across in a butcher shop. Customer service is generally HORRIBLE. Not only are they NOT pleasant but borderline rude. I go in pretty regularly and order quite a bit of food and generally spend a minimum of $ 100 at a time. It would be nice to have a smile or a pleasant attitude. I mentioned the treatment to my husband and he said that he noticed the same thing-they are not friendly and NOT nice. We feel like a bother more than a customer providing business. We only go in now if its to pick up the steaks we like. We frequent other friendly delis in the area far more bc of the atmosphere. Its a shame bc theyre quality is there!

I agree with some of the comments regarding customer service in this place is horrible, not only did it take them nearly 15 or so minutes to acknowledge me but to have other people show up after me and be attended to before me and when it was finally my turn I was asked watcha want… I mean really… I shoud’ve stuck with ciconnes, and to think I was going to place an order to them cater my kids first communion.

I saw the reviews before going in, and I was impressed that a manager cared enough to respond to many, so I was ready for anything. Wow. Manuel G and his girlfriend(5÷30÷13) had EXACTLY the same experience with the personnel as my wife and I! We walked in, first-timers, and the immediate vibe was«We hate that you came in! How dare you come to the Deli counter for service!!» Unfriendly personnel, discourteous attitudes. Even more specifically the lady who took our order and wrapped our sandwiches. She couldn’t be customer courteous or crack a smile if she practiced it in front of a mirror for a week! She seemed to be the person«in charge». I felt bad for the poor kitchen guy when she barked, «Can you speed it up back there!». He must have been microwaving the chicken. Geez, we weren’t waiting long, there was no one else in the store… why are you giving the poor guy a hard time? I felt like I was at a Deli in Staten Island, not Central Jersey! Well the«subs» were awesome. The pickles huge and delicious. I say«subs» because that’s what the menu says. Jersey likes the word«subs». But these are actually«heros». No half or whole. One size. Heros made with real italian bread. Italian/balsamic dressing on both halves of the bread. We had grilled chicken with fresh mozz and roasted peppers. Ahhh! Cashier was a nice young girl. Oh, and we find that«Double D» is the new version of «Ding — Dong Dairy and Deli». STATENISLAND! Was a frequent patron back in the day. They moved to Jersey and changed the name to Double D. So they’re actually«heros» after all. I used to get the Boar’s Head olive loaf & swiss«hero» at Ding-Dong. Ahhh! But I digress. So there you have it. It explains it all. Walk in the place, and nothing about it is Central Jersey… because it’s not! Well probably the cashier and the kitchen guy. So you take the good with the bad. It therefore has it’s advantages(great NY food), and disadvantages(unfriendly, discourteous NY attitude). Hey, it’s a deli, not a sit-down restaurant. You likely want to be in and out quick anyway. As strange as the personalities are, does it really matter as long as the food is real good? Probably not. Doesn’t really matter to me when I’m in there merely to fill my belly quick and good. But if you require warmth, smiles, a thank you for coming in, a «have a nice day»…the warm, friendly service customary of Central Jersey… this definitely isn’t the place for you.

Extremely disappointed w/D&D’s manager. I bought $ 60 worth of food, 2 items were the 18 ct. Ravioli’s. I told the cashier that one of the boxes felt lighter than the other but she didn’t bother to check so I went home with it. When I got home and opened one of the boxes, it only had 9 not 18 ravioli’s, so I called D&D & they said«that’s unusual & it’s the first for that to happen, come in miss & we will give you a new box. so I drove all the way back & waited for about 5 to 10 mins till I got the ok from the cashier to get a new box. I asked if I can exchange the other box I bought cause the box looked a little damaged but she proceeded to tell me that I COULDNOTGET A NEWONE– once the food leaves the deli they cannot accept it back… but it’s ok to buy a box w/only 9 ravioli’s & drive all the way back & get attitude from a cashier &NOT have a manager come to me to apologize for inconveniencing me… from now on I will drive all the way to Manalapan for an Italian Deli where the service is great & they never give you a hard time because they know what the customer means to them!!!

Double D is how I first learned what a real deli should be. Coming from New England, my idea of a deli had always been the counter at the back of a grocery store. Double D blew me away in so many ways: sandwiches made to order from top quality meats(Boars Head products, FTW), locally baked breads, and fresh produce. The sandwiches would have been to warrant my 5-star review, but then I got to experience the salads & sides. Everything, EVERYTHING, is made in house. There’s no opening a tub of macaroni salad — they make the pasta and the dressing in the back. Oh, and I can’t recommend the rice pudding highly enough. I’ve begged for the recipe, but apparently it’s a family recipe. Pretty sure it’s a family of drug dealers because it’s so addictive. I could go on & on about Double D… but it’s set the bar high for me.

Ladies and gentemen the real McCoy of deli sandwiches is back!!! I had an Italian sub here the other day and I was pleasantly surprised. After a long run with the über-available Subway sandwich shops and their lame little sammies… I got a run for my money on this one. Tasted like they did when I was a kid, before everyone started cutting every corner. LOVEDIT!

Three words: Best. Subs. Ever. Well, IMO, at least. Whenever my husband and I are back in Jersey visiting home, this is one of our«must go to» food spots. Our usual order is a foot long ham, ham cappy, salami, and provolone sub with extra oil and vinegar. My fave Italian deli by far!
