Dr. Atchley and his staff are fantastic. After going to his practice for years, I moved to VA and I am now in FL. I have NEVER found a dentist up to his superior standards! His care and concern for providing his patients the best service possible (and the latest techniques,) is extremely evident in both quality of service and the professionalism of he and his staff. I returned to his practice in Old Hickory to have a crown last week. It was well worth the trip. Smooth sailing as always — no pain, no pressure, calm environment with great service.

Dr. Michael Atchley’s office is the ONLY place I will go for dental exams. As a person who suffers from severe Dentophobia (the fear of dental treatment) I had a very difficult time in choosing a dentist. After two recommendations for Dr. Atchley I decided to give the office a call. Upon doing so I spoke with Karen, the very nice and very informative office manager/​patient liaison. She outlined specifically what procedures would be done in my new patient exam and was kind enough to even give me the procedure codes so I could check with my insurance to see what was covered. Thankfully, Dr. Atchley’s rates are more than reasonable and of course everything was covered by my insurance, even though he was «not in my network.» The only thing that was not covered was my fillings. My insurance only covers metal filings and Dr. Atchley provides the white fillings (which of course is my insurance provider’s fault, not Dr. Atchley’s). I was glad to hear this as I would most definitely prefer to have the white fillings so my grill does not look all crazy!
When I first walked into the office I was floored. It was beautiful with luxurious architecture complete with columns and granite/​marble floors and counters. The waiting area was very cozy with plush couches and TVs. It even had a children’s area complete with a Rock Band set up. The best part was the scent of lavender and vanilla… no «doctor office smell»!
Once my exam started, the hygienists were friendly and gentle and did their job quickly and painlessly. Of course, gassing me with the Nitrous helped to calm me down. They were very accommodating of my fears. They made sure I was comfortable in the chair complete with a view of the flat screen TV, noise canceling headphones (for TV or my iPod) and a warm blanket. For my second visit, when it was time for my fillings, Dr. Atchley sedated me with a pill. It was so easy! One pill the night before and two the morning of. I had a friend drive me and the last thing I remember is getting all cozy in the exam chair. All the drilling, filling, scraping, etc? I don’t remember any of it! As far as I know I was snoozing back in bed. When they were done I was awoken easily. I went home and slept for the rest of the day, but had no pain and no discomfort whatsoever! I was shocked. Because of this amazing experience I have recommended several others to Dr. Atchley and vow to never go anywhere else for my dental treatment! A+ across the board!
