Cajun spice is always nice especially when it’s close to home. Stopped in and had dinner tonight and it was fantastic. My wife had the Blackened Catfish while I enjoyed some Jambalaya and Red Beans and Rice which had the perfect amount of heat like it should. The staff was attentive and the Chef comes out of the kitchen to speak with his patrons which to me, says a lot. Can’t wait to try their Saturday brunch menu as it looked delish!

Finally tried this place and let me tell you. It is so good!!! A must try if you are in the area. Seafood gumbo is probably some of the best I have ever had. My boyfriend had the étouffée and it also was very good. Shrimp po boy was even great. Our waiter was also so nice. Overall great experience and great food. I forgot I wasn’t in New Orleans a few times.

Easily the best shrimp po’ boy I’ve ever had. Lightly fried shrimp… Great remoulade sauce. Even the bread was perfect. The gumbo was pretty amazing too. It took longer that I was used to — but well worth the wait! I think they cook most from scratch so the time wasn’t a surprise. And beyond all of that… The two people working there(a couple it seems from reading the other posts) were two of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Call first, because Unilocal had them closing at 9pm, but they seemed ready to close up shop when we got there at 7:15… But if you’re around when they are open — you won’t regret the decision. Especially with the two dishes above. If I am ever in this area again… I guarantee I’ll be back.

Solid 4 star place!!! There are so many good things about this place! I have been here twice now and have really enjoyed both experiences for what they were. It’s a family owned place with really nice service. I’m told they are Katrina transplants and learned all the recipes from their families. First time I was searching for a new place near me for a quick lunch and found this on Unilocal.I arrived and was the only customer there. The server was really cool and cut the obvious tension of being the only person in a restaurant pretty well. He made small talk and assured me that it was cool to be there. Nice guy. I ordered the Andouille Gumbo the first time and it was awesome! Spiced right, just thick enough, and pretty bad ass. I will note it took 20+ minutes to get it while being the only guest there. It’s $ 13.00 plus and worth every penny! I ate, got full, and took some home. I feel pretty certain each ingredient was cooked individually and added to the roux. For the price, there could have a bit more sausage, but it was pretty damn tasty nonetheless. It seems your plate is prepared fresh as you order it every time. The bases for the food are obviously prepped and then all assembled as you place your order, but it’s really fresh tasting and flavored well. You will enjoy your meal here! I’m sure of that! *the only reason it’s not 5 stars(IMO) is I received red beans and rice that was cool«not hot» as well as the gravy on my country fried steak was cold to the point of cooling the meat underneath. Additionally? The CFS was substandard pre breaded«store bought» CFS. Nowhere near the quality of everything else on the menu. Don’t order it unless you verify a change in product before ordering. Multiple visits are in my future as I will feel out the menu and come up with my favorite. Come get some!!! The Cajun food is fantastic!

Definitely a place to go if you love Cajun food! It’s better than what I thought it would be. I would give it more than 5 stars if I could. It’s also cozy and quiet as if you were at home.

Fantastic service and food. The owners made us feel like honored guests. The food is prepared fresh and tastes just like what you would get in New Orleans. I had étouffée, fried okra, and bread pudding for dessert. It was all fantastic. I will be back if I’m in town again.

I pass this place everyday on my way home and have always wondered about it. After a recent trip to New Orleans I have been craving some good Cajun food. I had the étouffée and black eyed peas. Both were amazing! Just like what you would get on bourbon! The black eyed peas were so full of flavor probably the best ones I’ve had! My boyfriend got the catfish and hushpuppies with slaw and fries. The catfish tasted so fresh and the hushpuppies were again, amazing! The slaw was very different. I personally didn’t care for it. The service was exceptional. This will definitely be one of our go to places from now on! Highly recommended!

Went here for lunch and had the crawfish bisque and the shrimp po boy. The crawfish bisque was very good and the po boy was exactly what you would get on bourbon street. The food does take some time just like other reviewer mentioned. However, this is due to the food being prepared fresh and nothing is frozen.

New to the area and find this local Cajun/Creole restaurant with the help of Unilocal. It’s owned and operated by a family from New Orleans. Mentioned that they moved after Hurricane Katrina. Boiled shrimp, crawfish étouffée, and Po Boy — all great entrees! Ready to go back and try the gumbo.

Patience. I started this review with the best advice I can give for this restaurant. I saw a recipe the other day for gumbo. I got a strong hankering for some. I have no delusions about my cooking skills, so thought I would Unilocal out a place to go. Found it! But, you have to have patience to eat here. They cook it fresh. They cook it right but that takes time. I would rather sit and have a nice conversation in anticipation of a good meal, than fast food any day. Going back for sure. Maybe a nice relaxed dinner next time.

Seared fish is excellent. Wish red beans and rice had more sausage(good though). Greens to die for! Will definitely return.

I seldom review a place after the first visit… Small, Family owned and operated, Louisiana themed restaurant located in an old house on «Old 78». We had Fried Catfish with two sides of which we chose Jambalaya and Red Beans and Rice. Fantastic and very reasonably priced. The best fried catfish I’ve had in a long time. They have Live Jazz Dinner on Friday and Saturday Night that sounds fun. Looking forward to my next visit.

All I have to say is hot sausage Po Boy! When I say hot sausage Po Boy, I mean a real deal New Orleans style Po Boy that is big enough for two people to share. It made not just my day, but my entire week to find a real Creole restaurant near Memphis that serves authentic Creole food! All I can say is, I will be back!

Came across Louisiana Bayou on Unilocal and had to check it out. I had the oyster po boy. It was pretty good. They were fried a little harder than I would prefer. Also wished I would have received more oysters for the price. I would go back again to support a good local business.

As a long time road warrior tired of fast food joints and chain restaurants, it’s nice to find locally owned gems like this. I had the étouffée and it was great. Just enough heat, not too salty, just right. Bread pudding for dessert topped off a great meal. Give this place a try. You won’t be disappointed.

After reading the good reviews, we really wanted to try this restaurant. We stopped in for lunch today(on a Saturday). We were told it would be 20 – 25 minutes before our food would be out because they make everything fresh to order. We were fine with that. By 40 mins, my husband was annoyed. And after I convinced him to wait an hour, we left. The gentleman waiting on us was very friendly and apologetic, but this was a little ridiculous. If he had offered a discount, we might have stayed. So, we went to a burger place very near by(I won’t say the name), but we had a great meal, met some really nice people and were out of there in 30 mins after sitting and visiting with the family we met. We WILL return to this burger place!

I live in Lafayette and Olive Branch so it’s quite a treat to have a taste of South Louisiana here. The owners and cook are from Louisiana so they are authentic. It took awhile but a good sign it was fresh. Our fried catfish and po boys were delicious. Sides of red bean and rice, mac and cheese, green beans, jambalaya were fresh. Andoui gumbo was fantastic. The homemade banana pudding and bread pudding with rum was outstanding! Very clean and cozy atmosphere. Staff was very friendly. Should have some crawfish this March when season comes in.
