I too am having problems with Duncan Hunter getting a player repaired in a timely manner. but after several months of not hearing from him, he DID repspond to an email I sent earler to day. He states his health is poor and his work is very much behind. I also leaned that he and his life partner seperated last year, so he no longer has her assistance. The address given is a shipping front address, not where Duncan lives. To avoid shipping a 75 pound LD player, I made arrangements by email with Duncan to actually drop it off in person. He said he was no longer working out of a storefront, and that his home was deep in the woods and hard to find, so we met at a restaurant just of the I-5 freeway in Nisqually Washington. back in April 2015. I am still holding out hope that the work will be completed on my LDS2, even it it takes a little longer. Its a real shame about the life-changes that have happened, because Duncan was once regarded as the absolutely top laserdisc repair guy in all of North America. As late as 2013, he got GLOWING commentary in all sorts of blogs and forums all over the internet. He was the best. I will edit this review in the future to reflect the facts as they unfold. This posting is August 4, 2015. I will note dates of any edits as they occur in the future. I remain hopeful of a good outcome, though taking a lot longer than I had hoped. If it works out, I will change my stars rating from 1 to something higher… We shall see! EDIT: 10 August 2015 I have raised my Stars to 2, because he is communicating regularly now, AND I have word from other forums that he is contacting many of the other customers that have been waiting during the past year that the business was in a mess. If you have a laserdisc player please don’t send it here. I sent my laserdisc player to Bayview and to this day still have not received it. Duncan the owner told me through countless emails that it was going to get done and he had other projects and assured me that it would get done. Well it’s 6÷18÷2014 and still no player. The last two emails that i sent he decided not to respond anymore. I have a ld-v1000 pioneer player used for a Dragons Lair arcade game that i was restoring for a customer and the only thing i was waiting on was that player to be fixed. Well since it took so long my customer decided that he could not wait anymore and i lost a $ 3000 job because of it. I pursuing legal options at present time.

Our experience with this business started out excellent but has sadly turned very sour and costly. We sent our Laserdisc player in for evaluation and service. Duncan Hunter gave a quick reply with an estimate. We made an immediate payment with the written confirmation the repairs would be done in about a week. This was in February, 2014. Weeks went by with no update on the player or shipping. A follow-up email was sent. A very prompt and courteous reply was received from Duncan indicating he had had some email problems and possibly been ill. He assured us the unit was fixed, boxed, ready to ship and he merely needed to complete the paperwork. I replied thanking him and advised him I’d notify him when the player arrived back date I have not received the player or any further contact! Our emails have gone un-answered and certified mail to Bayview’s address was returned un-claimed and un-deliverable with no forwarding address. Wow, what a sad state of affairs. As of right now our $ 1000 McIntosh laserdisc player is gone and the $ 200 in repair fees and all the cost of shipping and packing were all a waste. Needless to say I’m utterly shocked, disappointed and speechless. At the present time we cannot with any honest conscious recommend Bayview Electronics, or Duncan Hunter in any way, shape or form. Based solely upon our experience alone Bayview Electronics and Duncan Hunter are not reliable and should be avoided. This is very unfortunate as we were of the understanding he and they were one of the most reputable and reliable firms for laserdisc player service anywhere.

If you need your laserdisc player serviced don’t worry this is the place. I am in Chicago and was a little hesitant. No need for the communication was prompt, the price was very fair and the service was quick and painless. Highly recommend using without hesitation. Got it back in three weeks. Yay.
