Hanson Subaru

These dudes are total jokers! I am pretty certain they cut the boot on my CV joint while it was there to make sure they had some extra charges on maintenance (as I inspected my car before hand and did not see that). The guy in the shop said that they disconnect the engine to replace the spark plugs, which is totally unnecessary and probably a lie. I have head that dealerships are bad and they prove it, though this was not my experience at the other sub dealer I went to long ago. As one fellow I told I went there said «They are a bunch of crooks.» I was in need of a recall and they did not mention it the three times I had it there until I figured it out and they said well it is past the mileage now. Bunch of Jokers to avoid at all cost. Drive to anywhere but Hanson Subaru for your repairs!
Oh, and if you are buying a car from them test drive it, running, for at least an hour so if there are engine fault/​error code warnings that have been reset by their mechanic they will come back on and you will know if the catalytic converters are bad etc.

«I’m not gonna play games with you» the Kia salesman said. And that was when the crap hit the fan.
My wife and I have been persistently shopping for new and used cars for over 2 months now (while towing our 2 toddlers along with us mind you). We’ve interacted with two Honda dealers, Toyota, Kia and Nissan and boy has it left a bad taste in our mouths.
We’ve learned first hand that the auto sales industry is, more often than not, a dog eat dog industry. These sales guys will say all sorts of cutting remarks, like «if you end up making the mistake of buying _​_​_​_​you will end up _​_​_​_​». And twice we heard «who cares what the exterior color of your car is, you’re inside of it most of the time anyway». Seriously?! Unfortunately, it gets worse.
There was the dishonesty around Kia’s invoice price and their supposed «best offer» at $ 500 below invoice. After confirming with both NADA and KBB, their «best offer» was only $ 80 below dealer price. Now that’s messed up. From what I’ve been told by those who’ve been in the industry for years, dealerships are legally obligated to reveal their invoice on a car. Now, I’m mindful of the fact they’ve got to make a profit, pay their employees, and «keep the lights on» (and the sales team will be sure to remind you of this, often). We’ve also considered that it wouldn’t be totally fair for the dealer to immediately reveal invoice price to every potential customer who pulls onto their lot. Rest assured, when a dealer is agrees to sell a car at or slightly below invoice they aren’t gonna go belly up. Car manufacturers have handsome incentives for meeting other quotas. In the end, car shopping is absolutely a game, and both sides gotta play it.
As educated consumers we have every right to shop around, negotiate, sleep on it, make an offer and counter offer, and ask for explanations and clarifications. Scouts honor– I had a Kia salesman tell us that he had already spent too much time working with us!!! It was ONLY the 2^nd time we’d interacted with him. The 1^st time was less than 20 minutes and he had me running all over the lot b/​c he couldn’t find the vehicle I’d asked to see. Between the 1^st and 2^nd interactions I’d be juggled between 3 other salesman. That’s ridiculous!
Overall, my family did not feel comfortable returning to the Kia sales floor. It was painfully apparent that these sales guys were talking crap as they’d kept their backs turned to us and refuse to make eye contact. Pathetic.
Lastly, these salesman will pressure you into BUYING TODAY by saying things like «I have someone else coming to look at the vehicle later today…» (a total farce), «this is the last day of the month and you won’t get this same offer again», «this rebate/​incentive/​discount won’t last long», etc. Come on, don’t fall for these tactics. Look these guys in the eyes and kindly ask them to repeat themselves, you’ll know if they’re being honest or not.

Worst car dealership on the west coast. This sales team is filled with very unprofessional employees that have no morals. I bought a 08 wrx in February, it is now almost August and I have replaced the clutch, fly wheel, valve cover, a/​c compressor and a few other smaller things. These have been replaced by a certified ASE mechanic whose has amazing reviews and very clean work. To make it worse my engine blew yesterday. To fix it I have been quoted from a few places and all of them say I will have to drop more than six grand to fix the car. I have already dropped 4k on mechanical issues and still owe on my loan. They assured me this was a good car and things had been replaced and were in good condition, they also said they would give me the inspection sheet to prove it. After one week I called and they said they would send it. Tried again after one month and nothing. Then the mechanical problems started happening and asked again and nothing. Then I visited the location again and spoke with my rep and the sales manager both were disrespectful and attacked my intelligence. My sales rep is just as incompetent. He has the vocabulary of a small child, such as bro and dude. Come on, you are a business salesmen. All in all I called again today and they said they don’t keep records so they now have no proof any work was done. I will continue to call until I get a answer if they can find it. Do not buy from these unprofessional salesmen they will ruin your life and put you in debt. I did make the mistake to trust a used car and will take ownership in that. I just expected that I would have gotten a reliable Subaru from certified Subaru dealership.

Car buying, for me, has never been a stress free venture. Making a big purchase takes a lot of thought and planning and adding to that, predatory salesmen who want to bank on as much profit as possible. This time through, I knew my credit score, what cars I could afford and what I should be paying for them, in addition to researching dealer financials like «depreciation» and «money factor» and «DAP’s”(Dealer added profit).
Going to various car lots over the course of the month, I narrowed my choice down to 3 cars, with Hanson’s Subaru being my last stop, I was engaged by salesman Jim H., who impressed me with his knowledge and passion of Subaru vehicles. Particularly after dealing with salesmen on other lots who could not tell me about features and trims without looking it up somewhere. Jim not only talked like he knew his product intimately, but he also came off like a true blue fan of the brand. I am a fan of the WRX in particular but before visiting the lot, I really no clue about what a great car the Impreza itself is as well and I was thoroughly convinced after my test drive that this was the car for me.
After my initial test drive, I did some more research on what I could expect to pay and came back in to what is usually the most stressful part, the paperwork. I was expecting like with most dealerships I have dealt with there would be all kinds of bs talk and hidden numbers. I instead was pleasantly surprised when Jim landed on a price that was about a couple hundred dollars different than the dollar amount I was expecting, with my monthly payments also being only a few dollars off from what I had done the math on. The dealership was also very patient with my stepdad, who was being grumpy due to his back hurting.
No BS, it was the smoothest vehicle purchase I have made. In fact, it was so smooth, I was expecting for days for someone to jump out of the proverbial closet and yell «just kidding!» No hidden costs on the paperwork, only a mistake with the mileage that was easily corrected, and the finance manager (Penny?) was very helpful and answered all my questions to my satisfaction. I am very happy with my Subaru Impreza and hope to be a Subaru customer for life.

We went through the Costco Program and delt directly with a Costco salesperson. During this visit we had a 2000 RX 300 Lexus we needed to trade in. Right off, he said could only give us $ 500.00 for the trade in when KB rated it as dealer average at between $ 2,300 — $ 3,200. They also ran our credit knowing that we would need to think about this purchase. He came up on the trade in to $ 1,500. We thanked him and said we would think about it. This was on 2÷28÷15. We decided to just wait until the wheels fells off. Unfortunately, the trans. died on 3÷16÷15 so we didn’t have a trade in. We went back to this salesperson on 3÷19÷15 and decided on a 2015 Forester. We said we need to make sure we can cover the down pymt. And would call him the next morning (3÷20÷15). He stated that the window tinting was $ 300.00 and would only take a couple of hours. We called back the next morning at 8:00 and gave him a deposit of $ 500.00 to cover the window tinting and to hold the Forester as we were going to drive an hour each way to come pick it up on a Friday afternoon. He agreed that the car would be done and ready. We call him at 2:00 to say we were leaving Puyallup and would be there in an hour. We get there ready to write a check and have our dog with us. He says to us, sorry they weren’t able to do the window tinting and that we’d need to drive back down to Olympia again (remember this was our third trip down there in traffic) next week to have the tinting done! SERIOUSLY!!! We stood up and before leaving we asked him why he didn’t give us the professional courtesy of a call or at least tell us at 2:00 to let us know the vehicle wasn’t done. We left and called Costco Advocates Program and explained what happened to us and encouraged them to take this dealership off of their list. we were given the name of WALKER’s Subaru and drive directly there and purchased our new Forester (for less money!). BUYER BEWARE !!! Do not buy a car from this dealership and especially the costco salesperson. I wish I would have read all of the previous reviews, because I would never have gone near this place. Called them because my mechanic discovered I had something called Shift Shock, and I needed a software upgrade. They didn’t have the machinery to do the upgrade, so I called the dealership to see if I could have it done there. They told me that I was wrong, my problem was NOT shift shock (over the phone diagnosis) and that I needed to bring it in which would be $ 104 to walk through the door and they would troubleshoot it.
I found another shop that did the upgrades and told me «no problem, bring it in». $ 110 later (for the upgrade), and my problem is gone. In fact, my car runs much better. They seem to think their mechanic is a «know all», but obviously knows nothing. They just want your money. I use Madronna on Mudd Bay but the shop that I took it to for the upgrade was Terry’s Automotive and they are equally as honest. If you want to be ripped off, go to the Kia dealership. otherwise use Terry’s or Madronna

This is a pretty old thing, but my wife was on Unilocal and saw this place had 2 stars which reminded me of my run in with this dealership in 2012.
Also, I’ve worked customer service half my adult life, I know angry customers exaggerate reviews and blow things out of proportion out of anger despite them maybe being the problem themselves. No, this review is honest and less detailed on how it pretty much went.
I just got back to the states from being stationed in Italy. Needed a car, wanted a WRX, found a surprising cheap black 2006 with around 68k miles. Seemingly great condition.
Came in, test drove, loved it. Took it home for 17 600 $ish can’t remember exactly.
Next day I get a CEL. Car runs like crap. Reset it. Good, later that day CEL again. This goes on for a few days. I check up the code with a mechanic nearby and its an emissions valve or something, remember this was a few years ago. Take it to them, ask them about it, they get an attitude then I started getting one, which I later figured they knew this problem but reset the ecu before I drove it. I figured this because it’s not just magically going to fail the 2 drives I take it on the next day. They say they won’t fix it for a discount or help me at all because they already put a new turbo in it so I guess that was enough help thanks guys. I say screw it and get it fixed for about 500 – 650 $. I was called after that for every oil change time period or what ever they call for every 6 months or what ever, but never ever went there or called them back. I do feel cheated, if in fact they did what they did with the CEL, and stated they fixed the turbo were not fixing this after a week of having it.
The car also had two different tread patterns on it, the front and back were different and in rain caused the car to jerk allot. Something I didn’t think I had to check besides the tread wear. Learned from that now I always check, thanks again guys.
Well year later car got totaled anyway by a drunk driver so I now drive an abarth I got from my wife’s fiat/​Alfa of tacoma.

I am changing my rating of Hanson Kia. My first experience was in April 2014. I went through the Costco program and got very good service. Was quoted a price over the phone and got exactly what i wanted.
Three weeks later, I took my son in to buy a car. James tried to him into a USED car, even though he knew we wanted new. They finally double-​teemed us and sent Sly in. His name is true to his nature, apparently. They asked him what it would take for him to want this used car, and he told him he wanted new because of the 10 year warranty. (BE AWARE THAT WHEN YOU BUY USED, THE WARRANTIES ARE CUT IN HALF!) Sly said they would throw in the warranty, so my son agreed. AFTER we signed the papers, Sly handed us a key– ONE key. We asked him about another and he said «Oh, I only saw the one but don’t worry, we get those in all the time, I can get you another!» Well, we have called, and even went in and talked to a manager who promised that we would get a call back the next day. That was 3 weeks ago. We checked with Hyundai and it will cost almost $ 500 for a replacement key for that car. I feel that Hanson should pay, as they PROMISED it to us. The ONLY reason I am giving them 3 stars (my previous review was 5) is because I thought I had such a good experience the first time, otherwise it would be 1. I was going to take my daughter there to buy a car but after they treated my son, she wants nothing to do with them. Apparently, the only way you really get good service is if you buy a new car through the Costco program!

We worked with Sly and Don on our car purchase. Both were very nice and very helpful. We had bought a car from Sly previously when he worked at another dealer so we knew he would be good.
Everything was going smooth and fun… until Bruce the finance guy got involved. Everything was approved and ready all we needed to do was sign the papers. He was rude and extremely unpleasant. I pointed out typos on our drivers license numbers and address on out title application. Pretty important information to have correct I think. He was rude when I asked him if he wanted to reprint it before we signed it and he kept shortly saying it didn’t matter. We asked questions about the options on the invoice before we signed and he kept saying I don’t know, I don’t have that stuff. When he tried to get us to sign documents that were not yet filled out, we declined and said we would come back when it was done. He just got more rude.
Needless to say, I started researching other dealers in the area to get my car from. My husband wanted to give them one more chance since they were shipping my car in so he called the manager. Lee the manager apologized profusely and said he would personally handle our paperwork if we came back.
We returned a couple hours later and signed. Sly was apologetic and Lee was very apologetic. Everything was stellar and I love my new car!!!
I would’ve given Bruce a negative star but Lee really made it right. Nice job and thank you!!!

Don’t go by the negative reviews. I went in just to look and left with a brand new Outback. Jim my salesman was great. We have a toddler that like to touch everything. They were very understanding and even gave him a coloring book. First time I’ve ever been car shopping that I didn’t feel like I got the run around. I will be buying my next Subaru here.

My wife and I purchased a used Toyota from Hanson’s. It didn’t have the backup camera or leather that we had wanted so they added after factory for us. I was surprised at how great the leather looked, and the quality. The sales manager Lee addressed all of our concerns and answered all of our questions. We were treated very well by the staff, and have returned several times since to have our vehicle serviced.

Kia service department is horrible. From the customer service, receptionists, service manager and lack of quality care is unreal! It’s very disappointing

I recently bought a new Forester here at Hanson. From start to finish, I was extremely pleased with the service I received. I had a good sense of what I was looking for and they helped me find the perfect car for me. I worked with Gary, Rob and Jimmy throughout the afternoon– who were all great! I am super stoked about my new car and am confident that I am in good hands at this dealership!

My first experience with Hanson Subaru (cool name but no relationship) was a few months ago and a few times since… everyone is awesome to deal with and address any concerns I have asap.

TOO BAD their isn’t a –STAR. Last year we went to Hanson’s to look at FORESTERS and OUTBACKS. We needed a car to accommodate an elderly parent. We have bought 4 Subaru’s and thought for sure this would be a cinch. The salesman didn’t see us, so we went to to see him. We looked around and saw a Forester and a used OUTBACK. Before we could even discuss price he tried to shove us into the OUTBACK which was wet because it had just been shampooed. When we said we would think about it, he left and then came back with his manager and they tried to bully us into buying. They asked what it would take to have us buy. I told them «If you would shut up and go away it still wouldn’t help’» We left. Up to FIFE and just puled into the LEXUS dealer to simply think. WHAT A DIFFERENCE. MInd you we had no intention of buying a LEXUS. No way it was in the budget. We walked onto their lot, was given water, told to let them know when we needed help. Cars were unlocked, prices posted. We ended up with a used RX 330 with outstanding service. It’s been a year and we love our LEXUS… We wrote SUBARU a letter. NOTE Volkswagen pulled out of HANSON… wonder why???
I will say when we have had our Subaru and Volkswagen serviced there that department was outstanding. Guess we have to go to Tacoma for Volkswagen service now that Volkswagen pulled out of this dealership.

Terrible. I spent $ 28,500 on a new Subaru. when the car was delivered the next day it was valued at $ 25,994. Talk about a bait and switch situation. They literally raised the price over $ 2,000 while the car was being driven down from Skagit County. Apparently this is legal. But it is still totally dishonest and horrible customer relations. I would suggest finding another Subaru dealer somewhere else in WA. What they are doing may be quasi-legal.but it sure is dishonest. I wish I had read the other reviews before I went there.

I was in and out quick on a purchase in fact it was a smooth deal until lots of problems began to happen. The car they sold which I was told had a good clean Carfax they didn’t have at the moment but could get for me was never sent. Car seemed excellent on test drive. When I needed to trade it in only 6 months later I was told it had been in a collision with another vehicle back in 2010. The car had an alignment issue due to that accident and several other annoyances like loud squeaks that developed. They were nice it seemed but very dishonest. I enjoyed their office and paintings they sell for artists but I’d never go back not unless we were provided up front carfaxes on the car or a return policy if they promise a car fax and state its clean on the history but find out it has accident history. I went to their neighbor and bought a new car after only having the car since January 2013. It lasted 7 – 8 months. I loved the car too but it was just too unsafe for my newborn daughter to be in.

Went here to look at a new kia. When the salesman finally looked up from his text message, he grunted something at me. I went to tacoma and gladly gave a competitor of theirs my business. Another example of a local business thinking that they are the only gig around. The guy in tacoma didn’t treat me like a «bad up». Time to hit the lot Mr. Hanson. Whats really funny is the internet manager called me three weeks after I bought my car to see if I was interested in a test drive. Wow, business must be booming!

While trying to get a part and not being able to locate one, I thought what the hell I do need a new cabin filter. I asked how much, he said «like 20 something «so conveniently I purchased one before I left their service department. Well, it ended up being $ 32-​something instead and injustice thought, whatever, guy didn’t know off the top of his head but the price seemed steep for just a cabin filter. eh, whatever.
So today I go on to
, and find that damn cabin filter for 19 freaking dollars. To say the least, I’m pissed. I’d rather drive to Tacoma.
