HomeStreet Bank Olympia Branch

I’m giving Homestreet 5 stars for mortgage servicing, 3 stars for how I feel about overall banking, customer service, etc. We mortgaged our home through Homestreet and within a few months my husband lost his job due to the economy. We were able to get a modification seamlessly and quickly. Anyone we have spoken to about our mortgage (in Seattle) have been fair and wonderful. On the other hand, it feels as if with their banking services haven’t caught up to the bigger banks. I don’t feel as protected with certain transactions, and reaching customer service is sometimes a hassle. I’ve also been treated somewhat rudely at the Olympia branch, like they don’t want to deal with you. I like the small bank feel, however, and have kept my accounts open in hopes things get better because they’ve done so much for us in keeping our home affordable.

HomeStreet Bank was recommended to us by our realtor when we were buying a house. I am skeptical of all banks (credit unions excepted), but HomeStreet has been really great. Their rates on mortgages were very good, and the people were very friendly and down to earth — it never felt like we were a number. In addition, they keep something like 95% of their mortgages and don’t sell them off to some other major company, so we have a good chance of always being able to walk into the same branch and get a live person for the next 30 years of our loan!
