Sullum’s Bridals of Olyphant

I have had nothing but wonderful experiences at Sullum’s!!! My sister got her wedding dress here, I got my bridesmaid dress for her wedding here and recently just bought my own wedding dress here! The woman who helped me out, Judy, was wonderful! She listened to everything I had to say and pulled dresses that were exactly what I described… I never even pulled anything from the rack and she knew exactly what I was looking for. Shirley is so nice, in an old fashioned way. She’s a no nonsense person who tells ya like it is, which I absolutely love about her! She has been doing this so long and really knows her stuff. She would rather tell you a dress doesn’t look good on you than lie to you just to have you buy a dress. They are so honest, no BS, straight to the point people. Their prices cannot be beat and their policies for alterations are fantastic! I would recommend this place to ANYONE looking for a dress, as long as you aren’t afraid of people telling you like it is instead of sugar coating everything just to make a sale!

Do not even bother walking through the doors into Sullums. I would give zero stars if Unilocal would allow.
My future mother in law (MIL) walked in to simply inquire about how to schedule an appointment. Unfortunately, she went alone, otherwise I would have given this review to their face.
My MIL went in to find out about their stock and making an appointment. Rather than gaining any useful information they brought out one eggplant dress and said «this is the only dress for you, it is the only thing that will cover your belly.» (For anyone reading this review, my MIL is of average height and weight)
My kind, mild mannered MIL was absolutely mortified and left nearly in tears.
Thank God Head to Toe bridal is not far from the pathetic store of Sullums. Head to Toe was so accommodating and kind. They had tons of options for mother of the bride/​groom and created a very welcoming environment.

While you do feel a bit like you are stepping back in time when you go to Sullum’s and the service isn’t over-​the-​top by any stretch, I would HIGHLY recommend it for getting unique prom dresses and also for good prices on designer wedding dresses. On the alterations, I paid less than $ 100 for my wedding dress alterations I believe and that was with designing and putting-​in ribbons/​ties to make a bustle possible for the reception and also included modifying the straps to make them cris-​cross in the back with hand-​beading of the straps to match the rest of the dress. I thought that was pretty phenomenal pricing for the hand-​beading alone.

I bought my prom dress and my wedding dress at Sullums. I also got a few bridesmaids dresses from there. While the service does leave something to be desired, the prices are fantastic! The dresses are beautiful and they know exactly what to put on someone to make them look great. My only advice would be to make sure you are very specfic about alterations and do not let them order a dress four sizes too big. One size too big is fine to make sure it will fit everywhere, but I am a street size 10 and they once told me to order a bridesmaids dress in an 18. I refused to let them and made them order the 14, which was more than big enough for me when it came in. This is a very curious practice because for the bridemaids dresses alterations are free if you have a certain number of bridesmaids (which we did). Also, wedding dress alterations are free if you pay for the dress when you order it… huge savings. Overall, the prices and their eye for the perfect silhouette more than make up for some issues with their service.

I have gotten a range of dresses from Sullum’s. I have NEVER had a good experience here. Unfortunately, they are local and carry really nice dresses so I usually have to go back…

Providing decent customer service is not a difficult thing to do, and if it is, then you shouldn’t be in the retail industry.
I was so excited to find my future wedding dress here — I brought a picture of it in, Shirley brought it out for me to try and that was it. Plus you couldn’t beat the price. Thr dress I tried on was in Ivory, but I preferred White — so I asked if it could be ordered as such. I was told that the dress only came in one color since it was silk. She also told me we needed to order it soon since it would take at least 4 months for it to come in. So not wanting to lose out on the perfect dress, I was willing to compromise on the color and purchase it on the spot.
When I came home, I researched the dress online and the website says that White and Ivory were the two color choices. I called Shirley to say I wanted my dress in White and that it was actually taffeta not silk, she responded with «well I thought you were happy with the color so I didn’t bother to check if it came differently. If you’re not happy with what you decided, then I’ll just give you a refund and you can go somewhere else.» Not the kind of place I want to do business with…
