First off it’s cash only or local check, but there is an atm on premise so that’s easy to solve. I just went yesterday for the first time and the food was pretty good. I got the French toast combo and it had a very«from home» flavor, the bread was thick and cooked well, and the coffee was hot and tasted good. It was exactly what you would expect from a small café like this. It gets 3 stars because I liked the food and would go back, but it didn’t stand out much. It was exactly what you expect the breakfast dish to taste like when you make it at home. The waiting staff was also attentive

Food is mediocre at best. The gravy has no taste. The chicken fried steak was either out of a box or from a previous day/week. Hashbrowns also tasted processed. Staff is very friendly though.

AJs is a warm, friendly and great place to spend a Sunday morning. This mom and pop breakfast joint makes you feel like a home away from home. I love the south of the border breakfast casserole(hot dish for us northerners). I never thought to put a taco and hash browns together! It’s awesome. If you’re looking for a great café, AJs is where it’s at.

Ordered the chicken fried steak with gravy on the side. It came with the gravy on the steak. They offered to correct it, when they brought it back the second time it still had gravy on the steak. They offered to take it back again but by that time most of the people in our party were almost finished with their breakfasts so I just had them leave the plate.

I love this breakfast joint. I’ve always had good food and good service. I always love getting Lisa as my server.

Yes yes this IS the place. In on a fluke and very tasty food. I had chicken fried steak with crispy hashbrowns num, 2 basted eggs num and English muffin crispy Nom Nom ! They must use butter flavored oil here cause everything was sooo good. I usually don’t eat all the potatoes but did THIS time! BF had hamburger steak. It was good but not enuf for him. He ordered a Taco salad with the orange salad dressing(forgot what it was, like Russian) and it was delish. Then I had a piece of cherry pie with my coffee Mmm. I think we can leave now. Wait staff was great too. Very homey place!

Home style food. It tastes good. Only down side is they only take cash. Waitresses are friendly and very efficient. The place is busy so you may stand for awhile on weekends. I haven’t had anything bad at this restaurant yet. Highly recommended.

We love breakfast food. There is nothing exceptional about AJ’s. Prices are a bit spendy for the portion size and it isn’t anything«special». Go to 11-Worth Café or Jimmy’s Egg. This is not typical diner food. It’s disappointing.

The service was great, and the prices were awesome. The food hit the spot. Will return again and again.

We went to AJs on Saturday morning because our other fav breakfast place had too long of a wait, I’m definitely glad we went. AJs had a wait as well but it didn’t take too long to get a table. Service was attentive, the food was reasonable and the portion sizes were good. I had french toast with 2 eggs and sausage, the french toast was really good and my eggs were cooked just right. My fiancée had biscuits and gravy with hash browns and toast, the gravy was great, not too peppery and quite tasty. I also should add that the hash browns were a step up from your average breakfast hash browns you see around. I definitely recommend AJs for a good breakfast stop in Omaha.

This place is nothing special. Standard breakfast/coffee shop food. I ordered a breakfast burrito and it didn’t have any eggs in it??? I would have said something to the server but she never came back after she delivered our food. The rest of the food was average at best. The place was pretty busy but it is a small space and pretty outdate décor wise. Weirdest things was they do not take credit or debit and have no ATM. Once we ordered my dining mate had to leave to go get cash to pay. This was a one & done for me.

I love coming to AJ’s. Yes, they only accept cash or local check, but have an ATM ready for customers to use. The staff is always so friendly and the service is always prompt. During peak times, it can be a little crowded, but worth the wait!

I was very disappointed! My chicken fried steak casserole had an unusual taste of fish sticks. which is just weird, because they do not even have fish on the menu. Also, I witnessed one of the chefs in the back preparing instant oatmeal in the microwave then to portion it he used his hand to push oatmeal onto the spatial… umm okay? gross… everything was exceptionally bland. On a positive note, the service was great!

First time visit and our group was very impressed. Fantastic service, scrumptious food, clean restaurant and overall a 5 star experience. If you haven’t visited, go now!

The scramble was good but I have had much better pancakes. Coffee was good, hot and strong enough.

Small and friendly café with a decent menu. Food was good but not a lot of flavor. They don’t take cards, which is very inconvenient, and not willing to make anything off the lunch menu on the weekends. Not at all bad but quite a few better diners in town.

AJ’s is everything I like in a local café. Kind of hidden and off the beaten path, small, friendly. I went with my grandmother and she knew you could only pay cash otherwise I would have been caught off guard. I wouldn’t want to not have a way to pay for my meal if it came down to it. We both got the chicken fried steak, eggs, and hash browns. Don’t forget the pancakes. It was phenomenal. Our waitress never left her smile and even dealt with my talkative grandma. Between the food, service, and price, I go 5 stars. Portions are plenty and it doesn’t break the bank. I can’t wait for my next date to AJ’s to try something new. Brat

AJs is a hidden gem on North 90th, the only reason to know it is here is that it is just north of the Library Bar. I had their Husker Hashbrown Casserole(Bacon, Ham, Sausage, Onions and Mushrooms), in an old fashioned Breakfast joint. The only reason not to give the place 5 stars was the fact that whenever the front door opened, cold air just filled the room quickly, and those in the front totally feel this event.

This is a nice family run restaurant. The food is good and the service is fast and friendly. My only complaint is that it’s cash or local check only.
