Great art gallery that isn’t stuck-up. I’ve had some of my art pieces exhibited here twice when I was an art student at UNO… which I thought was pretty cool. Some of my friends I went to school with had their exhibits here too. I love contemporary art and Bemis never disappoints. They always have great artists featured. They have fantastic guest speakers/artists themselves that talk about their art. They don’t charge but take donations. The brick building that houses the gallery is beautiful itself.

Bemis knows art! I have never left disappointed. I saw an exhibit today that showcased some of the younger artists in the area. Amazing creativity. I would recommend Bemis to anyone that wants to get to know the up and coming area talent.

Bemis is right on! They are a beacon of light for artists and for those who value variety, scope and depth in art. Really a «must-see» in Omaha. The Bemis provides an artist-in-residence program that attracts local, international, and national artists. No entry fee — just donations.

Very cool place! I found the Bemis through fellow Unilocaler Scott B, AKA the Barcode Artist. Very cool stuff. I needed a dose of art to counteract the nuttiness of househunting, so I zipped in to preview the exhibits before the auction TONIGHT and was greeted by one of the artists who was busy installing for the big show. Artist Joel«Mighty» Darien took the time to sign me up for a membership and the auction. He was one of several pleasant and approachable people who were working there. In a little side gallery, I ran into Rachel Ziegler, the managing director and chatted for a bit about the residency program. The Bemis has 6 month residencies that include room, utilities, and a stipend for artists from all over the country and around the world. While looking at the Chihuly glass piece in the auction gallery, I happened to meet the chief curator, Mark Masuoka, who was very welcoming, too. The works in the exhiblits were extremely varied and interesting. I developed a crush with a metal sculpture, who knows where that will lead? I left feeling peaceful and relaxed and looking forward to the auction with dinner and drinks tonight.

This place is great. I finally made it there after way too long. There is no entry fee — just donations. They had two exhibits when I went and it did not take very long to get through. I will definitly be back for the summer creativity festival later this summer.
