My first shopping experience was good except that the line was very slow, 2 people in front of me & it took about 15 minutes, but I found really cute plus size clothing. I went on to tell friends and coworkers how reasonable & cute their clothes were. Second time here I was returning one of my purchases & buying a super cute blouse. I was using my mom’s credit card which I have never been questioned about at approximately 100 other businesses including when I bought clothing here a week before. I advised them I am an authorized user on the card & that I had charged $ 50 worth of clothes here 5 days before. The manager came over & said who was the cashier, I said I had no idea. The credit card company had given me a 800 number to have any retailer call to verify if I was ever questioned. The manager at Cato said they don’t accept authorized users, said they had a wife run up a big bill on a her husband’s card she was an ‘authorized user’ on whe. I was returing a $ 17 shirt & buying a $ 10 shirt. She said I could use the card as a debit card if I had the the pin. I said it isn’t a debit card associated with a bank account. She said ‘see’ to the cashier as if that proved I was a thief. I didn’t have cash on me so I asked if I could still please just return the shirt that didn’t fit to the same credit card, they said that wouldn’t be a problem. Was a hugely embarassing situation & when I do go shopping it won’t be here. I work in customer service at a business that has been around a lot longer than Cato & I know that this isn’t how you treat customers.
