Cool Stuff is a perfect little retro counter-culture store. It’s located in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Midtown and is easy to miss if you’re driving by. But it’s definitely worth a stop if you want to cater to your inner laid-back, long-haired, Grateful Dead-lovin’ deity. Cool Stuff is an apt name for this place, as it’s filled to the brim with all kinds of new, used and retro items. We’re talking clothes, tie-dyes, handmade wallets, hemp rope, dope — err tobacco — pipes, incense, mushroom jars and other small containers, door beads, designer knives, used DVDs/CDs, classic concert posters, etc., etc., etc. They even have light snacks — chips, candy bars and soda — for when you have the munchies. Nice. Cool Stuff is in a very old building with the creaky worn-down wood floors that can throw you off balance. That all said, it’s actually quite clean and very well-organized. Definitely worth checking out, if you’re into to that sort of thing.

This is a great little hippie store, conveniently located just down the street from my former apartment. I’ve shopped here on a few occasions, for anything from incense to CDs, and even Halloween costume items. They have numerous articles of vintage clothing, tye-dyed items, jewelry, hemp, beads, incense, used CDs and movies, random objects such as ash trays and art, and, of course, head shop items. The store’s hours may differ from what the sign says. Sometimes they are open at seemingly random times and closed at others. I could never really figure out what time they opened or closed. In any case, it’s worth stopping by and checking out Cool Stuff. I enjoy this store, even if it’s just to browse all the neat and unique items within.
