They have great BBQ, but a small portion size for the price. The potato salad is the best in Omaha next to The Blatt! The cornbread is amazing and inexpensive! I also LOVE the baked beans… mmmm! They are also great catered out.(I first ate Doc & Eddie’s at a friend’s wedding reception.) Their greatest downfall would be their hours of operation. I wish they’d stay open later in the evening. There have been dozens of times in the last few years when we wanted to eat here, but they were closed. Edit: I just tried to visit on a Sunday at 12:45pm and they were closed. They are supposed to be open, so I’m not sure what’s going on. I tried calling, but got a busy signal? They obviously have an issue with this. My advice is to call first.

I’ll have to agree with some posters that the ribs were tender and moist but lacked some smoke flavor. The pulled pork had a better smoke flavor but both were somewhat bland. A little salt and pepper would have done wonders for the flavor. The sauce was just ok. Probably would not go back.

Looked for a good lunch place after playing golf. This place was perfect. Great meat, good prices, and fantastic staff. Would definitely recommend.

Oh Yeah! Good BBQ. Corn fritters are the bomb. So good even my wife will eat’em. I’ve been here several times always good. I am a good old fashioned rib eater so I don’t very far from there. I would definitely recommend.

Lunch on a Wednesday; first time here. Pork sandwich and fries. Good smokey flavor in the pulled pork. Plenty of meat overflowing off the sandwich. Sauce choices were a bit lacking — original«Doc & Eddies» was okay. Chipotle was gross in my opinion, and I didn’t try the third which was advertised as pineapple. I don’t believe in fruiting my meat or my beer. The sandwich and fries arrived in a basket which was overflowing… both the sandwich and the fries. It looked good. I was the only soul in the restaurant, so it was piping hot and tasted pretty good. I put plenty of sauce on the sandwich and it was a pretty tasty lunch. The restaurant is not fancy. Straight forward BBQ joint. Could have been cleaner, but I have been in much dirtier places that served amazing food. Service was friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back — I think I need to give their ribs a try!

Ribs were OK. Real tender and meaty. Lacked any real flavor. Pulled pork was blah as well as the sausage. Everything lacked a smoky flavor. For Omaha BBQ it’s average. Loved the sweet corn fritters.

Another place I expected to hate but liked it. The brisket sandwich was good. It wasn’t dried out and had a decent smoke flavor. The coleslaw was also good. Staff here was friendly as well. This place is a long drive from where I live but I would eat here again if in the area.

I stopped in for a beer because it was open. while waiting, the waitress gave me a rib to try. I explained I don’t eat BBQ. She asked that I try it anyway. I did. I have been hooked ever since. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Food is FANTASTIC

My family stopped in for dinner on a Saturday night. The restaurant is fairly small with about 3 large booths and another 8 tables. You order your food at a large counter and then it is brought to your table. When we arrived we were greeted by a very friendly employee who helped us push together tables and get a high chair for my niece. The menu is on a large board next to the counter, but another employee brought us paper menus to review while we waited for the rest of our party to arrive. The service was very friendly! To start with we ordered some beers. They have a selection of domestic beers for $ 3 and 312 for $ 3.50 — a small selection but great prices! For my entrée, I chose the BBQ meat combo which comes with one meat, two sides, and cornbread for $ 14.99. I went with the pulled pork for my meat and corn fritters and baked beans for my sides. We had a fairly large party(7 people) but our order came out in about ten minutes. The pulled pork was a decent-sized portion and there were a good number of corn fritters. The baked beans were a fairly small serving, though(I noticed this was the same for many of their sides — potato salad, macaroni and cheese, etc.). They have a sauce station with three BBQ sauces: an original, a sweet pineapple, and a spicy. I tried the sweet pineapple and it was really good. The corn fritters are fantastic! The beans and cornbread were average. Good BBQ can be hard to find and the food here is pretty good. The cost is a little high for what you get, though. I will probably come here again because it is close to our house. They also do take-out, which we have ordered a few times, and we have generally been happy with it.

From time to time, I’m in the mood for BBQ; however living here in Nebraska I’m limited in quality selections for BBQ. There’s just something about that smoky aroma that creates a hunger in me like no other. At least we can find good beef here in Nebraska, but to get that backyard BBQ quality, Unilocalers, keep looking. I thought I’d look into this Doc & Eddys place seeing as they’ve had some decent reviews. Unfortunately I was let down once again by omaha BBQ. Now I enjoy all types of BBQ in my travels; from South Carolina, KC, Tennessee, Georgia, and many other places in the south, I’m perhaps a little spoiled to quality options. In my travels the sauce options differ from sweet, hot, vinegar or mustard based, but one thing stays constant: delicious smoked meats, which are proving to be difficult to find here in NE. It was about 7 o’clock on a Friday evening that I stopped in. There were a few tables occupied, and minimal table conversation which led me to believe the food was good. I briefly asked the counter guy what he recommended, and a little bit about their history. He was informative and friendly to talk to while I waited for my travels food(I just ordered take out as I live near by). By the time I got home the fries were still crispy and the sweet corn fritters were cold in the middle, which I found to be confusing? I ordered something of a «sample» platter to try different options. It was a combo of ribs, pulled pork, & brisket. To sum it up, it was disappointing. The pork was extremely dry with no flavor. The brisket for some reason was extremely salty, and had no ring of smoke(that little pink ring below the exterior), and just feel apart like crumbles opposed to tearing at the grains like normal smoked brisket. The ribs tasted«day old» which I’m confident was not the case. But they just had an exterior that was closer to a jerky texture than smoked ribs and similar to the brisket it was salty? I’m sure I’ll give them another try, as I possibly caught them on an off day(it does happen), and I’m hoping it was. But does anyone have any recommendations for good BBQ in Omaha?-

So I travel for work & like to try all sorts of little hole in the wall restaurants across the Midwest. This is one of my first reviews and it’s not because the place was so great or so bad. I had the 3 meat 2 side platter, the pulled pork was very good but the sausage & beef brisket was average. For my sides I had the baked beans & coleslaw, both were extremely good! I would have ranked this at 4 stars however I never got the warm welcome feeling from the two guys working there. It was very empty & although I tried to engage them, it seemed very one way. End of the day, it was a very tasty meal. Will I come back? Probably not, but that is because it is not a 5 and there are too many hole in the walls to visit

ok at best, I rate most places by how nice the bathroom is and I’d hate to say this one was nasty! I can’t imagine what the cooking area looks like. The toilet was filthy and there was NO hand soap what are the guys working here washing with? gross., food was just ok ribs were tasty but the mac & cheese and corn fritters lacked taste at best. not worth the time as there aer far better places to get BBQ, Swine Dinner being one of the best

Doc and Eddie’s(specifically the location off 168th and Harrison) is one of the better choices you can make if you’re itching for ‘que in Omaha. It’s really more of a 3.5 to 3.75-star joint if you want to get technical, but Unilocal isn’t big on fractions so I rounded up to four. Today was my third visit and right off the bat, the service was friendly. The woman taking my order made a helpful suggestion while I was deciphering the menu. No Unilocal review would be complete without a cliché, so let’s get down to brass tacks… Brisket: I ordered four ounces. It was chopped with a dollop of sauce(pineapple BBQ I believe) on top. It had good flavor, was moist and fell apart easily; although there didn’t seem to be much bark, at least in my serving. I am unsure how long before I arrived the brisket was cut. Ribs: The ribs were pulled out of a holding cabinet and sauced before being placed in a to go box. St Louis style was the only option, which is completely fine. They were meaty and the sauce(not sure which one, probably the original) went well with the ribs; although I wish they had more of a smoke flavor to them. I assume they were smoked in the morning and only sat in the warmer for a few hours before I got there around 1PM. Pulled Pork: My wife ordered a pulled pork sandwich. I tried it. Neither of us were impressed. Sauce did not seem to compliment the pork. Sides: Mac and cheese is blah. Corn bread/fritter was absolutely delicious and moist — seriously one of the best I’ve ever had. Beans were solid, but a bit soupy, pretty boring. Overall, brisket and ribs standout in this eatery. Not wild about any of the sauces, but they were okay. Worth going back as it’s one of the better BBQ joints in Omaha. I’ll be back just to have another corn fritter. It’s like crack in cake form.

I had a 1⁄3 rib dinner and it was not go at all. I don’t know why it was a 4 star. The ribs were not good at all. I can’t even find a word to describe it. Just gross. The fries tasted like freezer burn and the fried corn tasted weird. Overall I would never recommend this place to anyone.

I ordered a half rack of ribs with baked beans and mac-n-cheese for sides. The ribs were good. Very slightly overcooked. I would have liked more smoke on them. I really want an overt smoke-forward flavor to my BBQ and theirs just doesn’t have it. Also, their rub is a little dull. Overall, good ribs, but not great ribs. Baked beans were good as was the mac-n-cheese. Nothing to write home about, but satisfactory. The cornbread that came with the meal was a little too sweet for my tastes. Any sweeter and it would be a dessert. Barbecue sauces have a lot of tang. Certainly more than I was expecting. It really hits you when you try them straight, but put them on the meat and they mellow out. They have three you can choose from: Original, Chipotle, and Pineapple. I didn’t care for the Pineapple. Service was friendly. You order at the counter, then have a seat and they bring your food to you. They also police up the dishes when you’re done. I still prefer Hartland BBQ in Benson or Swine Dining BBQ in Bellevue over this place, but this is a solid choice too. Restaurant was clean and in good repair.

Yummy in the tummy. Bill and I split a 3-meat platter with brisket, pulled pork, and some spicy sausage(all served up on slices of bread). Couple that all with sides of mac-n-cheese, freshly cooked fries and a nice hunk of cornbread… and the $ 16.99 platter was plenty to share. I noticed too late that one of their sides is «fried corn on the cob». I can’t even imagine what that’s like, but I need to try it. Our sides were very good. Creamy, cheesy macaroni & crisp well-seasoned fries(obviously made to order). The brisket and pork were both tender, moist and infused with smoky flavor. But my favorite was the sausage. It had a really unique spicy factor that made it stand above the other items. And you can’t go wrong with an aviator flying pig logo either.

After living in Omaha for 4 years, I cannot believe that I didnt find this jem of a BBQ place sooner. Located in a strip mall location on 168th street, you might find it funny that such a delicious mouthwatering BBQ joint is mixed in with typical Omaha suburb. I dont eat beef or pork so I know you are wondering– what could this girl possibly offer to review at a BBQPLACE? Anyhow– I do eat turkey so i tried the smoked turkey with cornbread and 2 sides(mac and cheese and the highly recommended corn fritters). The turkey was smoked to perfection, although I would have liked if the texture was not so crumbly. The mac and cheese was definitely above average and the corn fritters were different in a good way– crunchy and fried on the outside, and warm sweet on the inside. yummm. The cornbread was moist and amazing! It has been a long time since I gave cornbread a chance, I gave up ordering it when it seemed that cornbread was on a dry spell just about everywhere I went. My eating partner ordered the half rack of ribs, french fries, baked beans, and cornbread. Being a non-pork eater, I found myself strangely interested to try the ribs because they smelled so darn good. I ended up taking a small bite and was not displeased. The quality of the meat is obvious and the texture is amazing! It falls off the bone as you bite, and eat chew is full of tangy flavor. His sides were definitely above average as well. Each table has the option of original, pineapple, or chipotle BBQ sauce for anything you order. My recommendation? You dont reaallly need a lot of sauce(it is served with real bare bones as far as sauciness), but I piled it on anyway and enjoyed :)
