I love craft stores and even though I spend more time at hobby lobby this store is nice. The staff is very kind and helpful. However there usually is not enough cashiers.

This place is okay if you are in a hurry. However, I have found that their selection seems to be inadequate compared to any of the other craft stores in the area. I’ve also noticed that the prices at Michael’s tend to be slightly higher than all the other places. For example, yesterday I bought a package of 18 mini glue sticks for 3.99, but Hancock Fabrics had a package of 25 mini glue sticks for 1.99.
Also, I had to use their bathrooms once. I won’t be making that mistake again. A 2 minute quick pee trip turned into a 7 minute fight with the single ply toilet paper. I mean, I went to a public high school, I am familiar with low grade toilet paper, but this was the absolute worst! It was almost like really cheap tissue paper. I’d try to get some and it would immediately rip off. So annoying. I’m not saying that there should be charmin or anything, but quality does matter!
I think Michael’s would be okay if they were having a sale or you needed something fast, but for everyday crafts I’d suggest other places in Omaha.

This store is horrible. They never have enough cashiers working, so there is constantly a line of at least 5 people every time I shop. If I ask a question to an employee, 9 times out of 10 they do not know the answer. This includes the products that they carry or how a particular item works. It doesn’t appear that any of the employees actually do «crafts» as they all lack expert product knowledge. I do mostly jewelry and painting among many other things and have never received proper assistance. Instead of assisting customers who need help, the employees are generally standing around talking or blasting over the intercom that the store will be closing in 15 minutes. The employees here need to ALL be trained as cashiers, need to have MUCH better product knowledge and need to have specialists in-​store that can assist those of us who spend ridiculous amounts of money here. I would go elsewhere, but there are few stores in town that are close to home and carry what I need… even if it takes me 45 minutes to find it.

The staff here are very helpful — especially during the holiday rushing season.
If there was a misplacement of items to a discounted area, they are upstanding enough to offer the discounted price.
For many of your craft needs at reasonable prices, I would vote for Michael’s!
