They have done several several pieces for me over the years. I think the workmanship is very good. It often takes longer than they first estimate and I’m sure they aren’t the cheapest around but I am satisfied. I do wish Joe would not underestimate the time needed. Sometimes I wonder if he’s forgotten about me. I plan to pick up a recliner back today that needed new stuffing. He said a week to 10 days and now we are going on 3 wks. So, we’ll see if it’s ready. If it is ready, I have no worries as to how it will look.

To say that Midwest Upholstering has poor customer service is an understatement. I dropped off my couch cushions on a Tuesday before I went on vacation in hopes that Midwest could have them done soon after I returned. They absolutely dodged any question about how long their work takes. «Probably early next week.» After I returned from vacation, I waited until Wednesday(a full week) to call and get an update. The man was completely rude. «I’ll call you when I get to them!» Still no information as to how long that would be. After stewing that night, I planned to drive by and pick them up even though they hadn’t been touched. However, the next morning I get a phone call. This was the first time he was polite. He said it will be $ 75 per cushion.(I state the price because it might be informative. The price didn’t surprise me because the cushions are huge.) I said, «Can they be done by Friday?» «Yes, we can do that. Perhaps even today(Thursday).» «Okay, if they can be done by Friday, then I’d like to proceed.» They were not done on Friday. I called them on Monday morning. «He’s doing the last one now.» If it takes that long to get something done, then fine. Be upfront. Perhaps book appointments. Good customer service goes a long way. The rudeness is unnecessary. And missing a deadline in my world is grounds for being fired. As for the quality: it is the ONLY reason I am giving them two stars and not one. The cushions are firm. Two people can sit on the couch now and not collide. Would I do it again if I had the option? No. But I am glad they are done.
