I was excited to try a new type of cuisine– Nigerian. I absolutely LOVE Ethiopian food, so thought I’d try out Sholiz. We started with the Suya(beef kebab on a stick) these were very tasty, but the portion was way too small($ 1 per kebab). My kids did like them, so we ordered some more. The Spring Rolls I suspect were frozen egg rolls. We had the Chicken Peri Peri w/jollof rice. The rice was delicious, but the chicken tasted like it was way overcooked. The Egusi Soup(thickened with ground melon seeds) was very interesting mixture of goat, spinach & I’m not quite sure what else. You eat it with a white mashed potato like dough, which was fun to eat(but not very good). We also had a side of Moin Moin(steamed bean pudding) w/a thick beefy dipping sauce. Again, very interesting to eat, but the flavors were just not quite right for me. I LOVE mom/pop restuarants & trying new cuisines, but sadly Nigerian is not on my list of favorites. That being said, I encourage you to give it a try, just for the experience.
