Fantastic and quirky ice cream place in Old Town. You won’t be disappointed.

Great ice cream. Had a chocolate sundae with marshmallow cream– to die for. Cool atmosphere, old ice cream store– loft style eclectic. Friendly staff. Didn’t love my cappuccino though. Definitely recommend for ice cream

I’ve been in a few times and I have to say it’s a nice little place to stop if you’re downtown or looking for a new and interesting flavor to try. New flavors every visit keep things interesting. Make sure to take advantage of a sample or two before you commit to a cone, as some of their flavors and/or textures can be hit or miss.

Didn’t let your kids run around the place unattended unless you’re in the market for a puppy! Very good ice cream and good sized portions.

We stopped in to Ted and Wally’s and I decided to try several… I ended up having the dutch chocolate and was strawberry on a huge waffle cone. I was having trouble making up my mind so I asked the server, Priscilla, to help us and she was amazing she kept bringing out samples and waited patiently until we made our choices. Very nice and very helpful. The ice cream again was excellent excellent!

I love this place. They have a really cool thing going on there, and love the names for all the flavors they create. I remember the old location — but also like where they are located now. Their hours are great, and you know it’s good when there is a line out the door. Just plan ahead & get there early! Good place to have a chill date-night or if you feel like some ice cream after checking out the Old Market. I like the little patio area off to side, great in the summertime. I am also really excited for the new location in Benson & the collaboration with Localmotive Food Truck– can’t wait! :)

We’re semi locals and still enjoy this place. I love the off the wall ice cream flavors they always have even if its just something I try and then don’t buy. The last time we were in here we had just been discussing rose water flavored things. I am a huge fan of it, my favorite turkish dessert involving rose water ice cream. Apparently, men tend to not be a fan of the flavor. One on my friends ended up loving the rose water ice cream on my recommendation. We tried the maple bacon ice cream and ended up passing, except for one of the guys who swears it is the best ice cream he has had. All in all Ted and Wally’s always has solid choices at a reasonable price, interesting clientele(good place to meet eager out of towers who help you remember why downtown Omaha is pretty cool) and a few loose cannon flavors that are fun to try.

Way back in the early 2000’s I played my first of what would be many concerts in Omaha! Now you may ask where did you play, was it Sokol Underground or maybe O’Leaver’s or was it a basement show? Nope it was at Ted and Wally’s Ice Cream shop! After hours they shut the place down, turned off the Ice Cream maker and pulled out the PBR’s and had a rock n roll show! It was a blast! And this place has always had a special place in my heart because of it! So I was very excited to show this place off the Ashley while we were in Omaha last weekend! She loves Ice Cream and I knew she would dig Ted and Wally’s! Now it was hot out, hitting the low 90’s and we went on a Saturday so the line was pretty epic! In fact it was out the door, but it moved fast and the Air was pumping inside so, once we got in, it was smooth sailing! I loved watching the old school Ice Cream maker spin on ice while standing in line, and while standing in line I notice, YES they have VEGANICECREAMTODAY! When we finally get to the counter to order Ashley get’s some Peach thing and I order the Vegan Kettle Corn Ice Cream, I was so lucky cause there was only one scoop left! It was easily the best Vegan Ice Cream I have ever had, it actually combined my two fave foods, Ice Cream and Pop Corn! We sat in booth and enjoyed our Ice Cream and I talked about the fun shows I had played here! I wonder if they still have shows in the late after hours? Either way this place will always be fond in my heart, for the rock and for the Ice Cream!

I lvoe Ted and Wally’s. I don’t know why my husband and I have never ventured in, or what possessed us to do it this time as we usually go to the ice cream place across the street from here. This was 100 times better! I tried and fell in love with their french toast ice cream. It’s everything you’d think it to be. They also offer vegan flavors, which is great for anyone that has a milk/soy intolerance. They use coconut milk as their base. During the month of August, which is National Breastfeeding Month, any Mama Mia ice cream quarts proceeds go to the La Leche League of Omaha.

As the beef flavored ice cream touched my tongue, I instantly regretted my adventurous decision. But this is what I love about Ted and Wally’s, they are not afraid to try something new. I decided to resort back to a more familiar flavor palate, Dutch Chocolate. This delicous cream had my mouth screaming for more and instantly made me forget about my regrettable decision earlier. I could pretend to tell you that by hand turning the ice cream in buckets is what makes this Place so good, but honestly, I don’t know crap about how Ice Cream is made. But what I do know… is that this Ice Cream is some of the best stuff I have ever ingested into my body. No matter what, it’s hard not to leave this place with a smile on your face.

Ok, so out-of-town visitors tend to give higher marks than us locals, I still like this place. Just being able to get vegan ice cream here is a definite plus in my book, but all of it is tasty, and the employees are always really nice when I go. I will say that I have had to leave the line(out the door) once or twice without getting anything, because I just didn’t have 20 more minutes to wait, and I know I am not the only one. I hate to see a business lose customers because they can’t accommodate all of them. People talk about the parking here, but it’s one of the only places in the Old Market that even has a(small) lot, so scoring a great parking spot anywhere down there is sheer luck some days. Another reviewer mentioned that you can see the new flavors on their Facebook page, and I took her advice. That is a cool service to have, and I wish more restaurants would do it.

Holy Smokes! What a great find here in Omaha’s Old Market neighborhood! Don’t let the long lines deter you from stopping here for what might be one of the greatest cones you’ll ever have! We waited in line for about 40 minutes… but it was worth every second! They make their own ice cream each day from the old fashioned churns and load it up with greatness! Their flavorings include unique and original offerings and it’s not uncommon for them to run out of a certain flavor as the night unfolds. We even hear from someone that they’ve run out of all flavors on occasion. We got there around 10:00pm, and they were beginning to run out, so don’t get their too late!

This ice cream place is practically famous in Omaha, Nebraska. If you are from Omaha and you have never been here or heard of it, you definitely need to get out more and start by going to Ted & Wally’s. This cute ice cream shop is located in The Old Market, which has fancy restaurants, stores to window shop(and sometimes buy), and scenery for any occasion. It has booth and little table seating inside and benches outside. If you are lucky, you might snag a parking spot in the lot, but I would recommend parking somewhere else and walking. If it is a busy time, like the CWS or a Friday night, the line will be pretty long. Do not be discouraged! It goes quickly and is totally worth the wait. The ice cream and yogurts are all homemade in an old-fashioned ice cream maker. They have new flavored every day and you can ask to have a sample before you buy your flavor. I love the Dutch chocolate and classic vanilla, but my all time FAVORITE was ice cream with Peanut Butter Monster Cookie pieces in it. YUM! Oh, and I ALWAYS get my ice cream in an old-fashioned sugar cone. They also have things like shakes, malts, floats, and toppings, but I have never bought. The point of going here is for the specialty flavor ice cream, not something you could buy at Dairy Queen.

Place is just alright. They offer interesting flavors, but I was disappointed with the flavors they had on the day that I went. I ended getting a scoop of their purple yam jam, which was surprisingly good and very creamy. It also did not taste like purple yams at all. I also tried their zucchini bread which was good, but too grainy. The guy their wasn’t all that friendly either, which made things awkward.

Even in a snow storm… there’s a line out the door for Ted & Wally’s. On a positive note, they have a vegan option which makes this ice cream loving, lactose-intolerant fool extremely happy!

Some really tasty hand made ice cream in the Old Market. The location(what used to be an old garage/service station) is very cool. Expect long lines, sometimes even during the winter months. As they make their own ice cream in-house(you pass by the old school ice cream maker while waiting in line), there are not a ton of options, but what they do have covers the basics, plus some pretty cool more exotic flavors. Since the place is usually busy, plan on waiting for a place to sit, grabbing a seat on a couple outside benches, or taking your cone to go. Overall, this a cool little place in the Market that is worth stopping in for some delicious ice cream.

Ted and Wally’s is the known place in the old market to get some good old fashion churned ice cream. It’s busy year round, summer and winter alike. There are always some interesting flavors and it’s hard not to support such a major footprint in Old Market. Definitely give it a try when you are in town. I’ve been a patron here for years and never disappointed. You can follow their FB page to see current daily flavors.

Huge disappointment here. Everyone has told me I HAVE to come to this place for like the last 12 years. Well After living in Omaha for 4 years I finally decided to come here. I am hugely let down. For starters I didn’t get the line everyone else was talking about. My husband and I walked in around 3:30pm? on a weekday, not a person in sight. Honestly we weren’t even sure they were open. Walking in, yeah the décor is weird and cute but it had a strange smell, almost musky. I don’t know what the deal was. The 1 dude working seemed less than happy to stop reading his phone and then seemed more irritated when we told him we hadn’t been there before. Oh lord you might have to actually work. The flavors they offered were unoriginal to say the least and not great. Then I asked if he was allowed to tell me what they put into their ice cream. He said«maybe, which one do you want to know» and I asked if they put strange things in their ice cream like corn syrup and other artificial sweeteners. He at first acted like I had arrived off planet Mars and seemed aghast anyone would ask this. Then he responded with«all ice cream has corn syrup in it’. –_– really? Actually dude NO real ice cream uses sugar, and for the amount of money you want to charge me for your lack luster ice cream you could at least use«the good stuff». We politely said thanks but never mind. As we’re walking out he muttered«what the f— ever». Needless to say I won’t be returning.

Ted and Wally’s is an ice cream shop located across the street from the Hyatt Place in Omaha, NE. Being so used to hidden gems and hole-in-the-walls, I almost skipped out on this gem of an ice cream shop that was located front-and-center from my hotel lobby. My friends and I stopped in to get a light snack-freshly made popcorn-before exploring Old Market. The shop takes both cash and credit card. We didn’t get ice cream because it was still early in the day, and we hadn’t yet had lunch. The flavors, though, made me want to come back the next day and I did. The promise of mint chutney ice cream was enticing. The prices are on-par with city prices. Two scoops will run you $ 5.00, but the more scoops you buy, the less you’ll pay per scoop. So if you’re with a group of friends, order a larger-scoop dish with the flavors you want and share. That’s what my friend and I did the next day. We ordered two scoops: chocolate espresso and caramel pecan pie. Pecan pie had a rich caramel-ly flavor, with chunks of candied pecans. The chocolate espresso is what I’d come back to Ted and Wally’s for: a rich chocolate base with visible specks of espresso. Is it possible to get your sugar and caffeine fix in one food item? Yes. This is it. There are three booths inside the shop, and more smaller tables inside the entrance. Inside the shop, you can watch ice cream being churned in wooden buckets. There is also a charming vintage pop machine that sells Squirt for just 50 cents. Overall, T&W’s impressed me with its unique array of flavors. On the way to the bus stop, my shuttle driver told me that they often have a sriracha flavor. T&W’s experiments, and that is what makes it different from ice cream chains. It’s also a locally-owned and operated shop. I look forward to another visit to Omaha and a visit to T&W’s!
