It’s a bit of a challenge to rate this place. I’ve been a frequent visitor of the Wheatfields Bakery(to go cakes and baked goods for the office), but this was my first occasion to dine in at this location. The super-dense strawberry wedding cake is a definite crowd pleaser and always a hit for any office celebration. I’ve even been surprisingly pleased by the tiramisu. While not the best I’ve had, rates better than many than most, albeit a bit on the dry side(which is pretty perfect for a carry out, actually). A gift card prompted our family to opt for dine-in for dinner rather than breakfast/brunch, which can be quite the crush on weekends. Plus, the coffee tends to be rather weak, which is a no-go for this coffee-addict. So dinner it was, plus you can still get breakfast items at dinner time. Crab Cake Benedict(13.99) was surprisingly tasty, even down to the side of baked apples which usually tends to be a bit on the sweet side. Ron’s Chicken Dinner(11.99) was just OK, but it was a bit on the sweet side for my taste. The crème brûlée potatoes are an eat-your-feelings must have. Brown Derby Cobb Salad(13.99) is more everything but lettuce(although there is lettuce), which is actually a plus if you’re more into the«stuff» on a salad versus the actual lettuce part of the salad. Saturday night dining crowd was light with a few tables of mostly families. Waiter was helpful when not engaged in deep conversation with the nearby table of folks he obviously new. Ambience is such that you can dine post-church on a Sunday in your suit or yoga pants at any time of the day and still fit right in. Nearby parking can feel limited in the winter months when your face is freezing off.

My teenagers and I went there December 26 for lunch. It was busy. We were patient. Food was good. The waitress had to be asked several times for drink refills. When we asked for a box for leftovers, she threw them out but brought the box. I paid for that food. Didn’t really apologize. Not sure I’ll be back

I usually have a good experience at Wheatfields. Decent food, good service. But I had the worst experience there yesterday! We had a table of 5 ladies, and our server was Bianca, and I know we weren’t a high maintenance table. Super simple orders. Nothing crazy. Bianca messed up every single one of our meals, and took forever! She was not attentive whatsoever and when she did come to our table it was pretty clear she didn’t really understand how to be a good server. It was so disappointing! I used to be a server so I know how difficult it is to be in the service industry, but she made it look way more difficult than it is. We left a 10% tip(since it’s the holidays after all) and told her our experience was just«ok» when she asked how everything was. So we did bring it to her attention — which if it were me, I would have comped something or brought over the manager to make it right so the table wouldn’t leave on a negative note — so this review isn’t coming out of nowhere. Anyway, Wheatfields is usually a good place to grab brunch, but just make sure you avoid Bianca’s section!

Every time we come here — I feel like the menu is huge and we’re going to find something good … And then the service sucks and the food is average. They don’t have a menu for food allergies — that’s a let down. I don’t think we will be coming here anymore– given several attempts and disappointed.

Wheatfield’s can be counted on for good food… but also a super crowded, noisy, dining room. This is not somewhere that you’d go for an intimate meeting. Nope. The epic menu should knock you for a loop(what — is there an army of cooks in the back?!). Overwhelming is the only way to describe it. But what I’ve found is that most folks know exactly what they’re having when they visit Wheatfield’s. I can narrow it down to 3 – 5 favorites. One of those is the Pork Tenderloin — it’s two meals! Then you have to walk out the door and pass the cases upon cases or bakery delights… extra points if you manage to do that. Me? Not so much. The food doesn’t disappoint, although the ambiance is a bit off-putting.

I’m pretty sure you can go to Wheatfields for breakfast and not feel hungry for the rest of the day. While waiting to be seated, we sampled some of the delicious bakery items. I ordered the lobster eggs benedict, with a cinnamon roll on the side. The eggs benedict were super good, and just huge. The cinnamon roll was not a roll, but a cake with lots of icing. This meal could have easily been split for two. The service was good, as well!

Tried it again. See? I said I would. This time around, my experience was better. If you hate loud noise and being crowded, asked to be seated in the sun room area. MUCH quieter without music, and it doesn’t have nearly as much space for humans, so it’s so much roomier. There are still way too many menu options, though. We were each given three menus — two pieces of paper menus and one giant book of 10+ pages of choices. It felt like too much. I love choices, but this is bordering on too many. Portions were still amazingly large. No one at the table could finish their meal. However, prices do reflect that. $ 50 for a three-person breakfast bill with no excess drinks. Definitely could get pricey here. This time around, though, EVERYONE loved their meal. The grilled cheese had three layers of delicious cheese that was oozing out of the sandwich. The banana nutella crepes are literally to die for. I’ve been eating these crepes everywhere, and NOWHERE has come even come close to the quality that I got here. It was so impressive. Literally. Amazing. The Reuben sandwich was also fantastic. The person who ordered that said that he always orders Reubens and it’s his favorite sandwich — and this is the best one he thinks he’s ever had in his life. That’s high praise. Service was okay. Nothing super amazing, but it was efficient and drinks were given on time despite them being swamped and all that. Food was served quickly too. Parking is still a giant pain in the butt. They clearly do not have a parking lot to accommodate everyone they can seat. We had to park on the road. Again. Building still feels more-than-a-touch crowded. With how popular it is, I think the only solution is really to expand the building itself to be able to space out the tables and add more — because they usually have a line of people waiting to eat. So it’s clear they have the popularity.

Upon entry to this location, we observed the bakery area, where the baked goods appeared to be delicious and plentiful, although a narrow walkway from either end. Heading into the dining area, equally as narrow and crowded, we observed what would remind me of a sports bar, in terms of «noise factor». All that was missing was a football game on a big screen and beers all around. We were promptly seated by our waitress, who seemed very frantic and nervous. My wife and I requested coffee and water, with no ice. Our waitress seemed puzzled as to why we requested no ice, which I found rather odd. Although we stated this was our first visit, she asked us right away, what would you like to order. We advised we would need a few moments to review the menus. The overall item selection was plentiful as well. She left and returned roughly 2 minutes later, after filling water at an adjacent table, asking if we were ready. Once again, we stated we would like more time, 5 minutes to be exact, to continue review of the menus. She appeared annoyed by our response walked away. We waited for another 10 minutes for her return, which allowed us to make a decision. My wife ordered the Snickerdoodle Crepes. Per the menu, 5 Crepes with cinnamon/sugar, two strips of bacon & warm apples. I ordered the Chicken & Waffles. Per the menu, 2 chicken strips, with a Belgian style waffle and 2 strips of bacon. The Crepes my wife ordered, were not the typical Crepes we’ve come to expect. They were not rolled or folded, however were flat and stacked, similar to your typical pancake. Covered in what appeared to be a cinnamon like syrup, with no appearance of sugar, anywhere. Bacon was very thin and slightly undercooked. After two bites, she moved the plate forward and expressed her disappointment for her meal. I took one bite and agreed, something wasn’t right. The taste was similar to taking the cinnamon challenge, only in a liquid firm. In short, it was disgusting. Once I received my meal, I observed a plain waffle, underneath two pieces of flat, crusted chicken. The chicken didn’t resemble a typical chicken strip. It appeared to be a piece of flattened meat with a crusted, fried cornflake breading, surrounding what looked and tasted like, microwaved, processed chicken. It was dry, bland and had absolutely no taste. Rather receiving the two pieces of bacon, I received only one. As with my wife’s meal, tasted undercooked. With and without syrup, all I could taste was the syrup. About 20 minutes in and nearly through my meal, I started feeling sick. Hoping it would pass and after drinking all the water on our table, I headed to the bathroom. I’ll spare the details on that part. Although I was very hungry(and someone with a cast iron stomach), I stopped eating altogethet. As with my wife’s meal, this was absolutely disgusting. We notified our waitress of our experience, hoping to exchange our meals for something else, or at least my wife’s meal, since I nearly finished mine and she barely ate. We’re not the type that tries to get something for free in these types of situations, rather we try to negotiate and make things fair and right. She never once asked how our food was, after we were served. The waitress looked at my wife and said, «I’m sorry you don’t like your meal, would you like a box to take the leftovers home»? Again, we expressed our dissatisfaction and she then smiled and said, «well, I’m not sure what you want me to do». I then commented, stating I should have taken the reviews online more seriously. Our waitress then laughed and said, «oh, you must have seen Unilocal»? She then got the manager. The manager finally appeared and asked us why we were unhappy with our meals. We explained to him the same situation as we had our waitress. He then said, «it was made properly in the kitchen however it’s not our fault that you didn’t like your meal». Ident explained to him that my meal made me sick and questioned if the chicken may have been under cooked or old, etc. He responded with, «how did you get sick»? After a heated discussion, he explained that it’s not their policy to discount a meal and we needed to pay for both meals. I refused to pay for one meal, however advised I would pay for my meal, since I ate most of it, as well the two coffees. He then said, «you need to pay for the second meal, you can’t leave without paying. If you attempt to leave, we will call the police». He and the waitress were very rude, condescending and ignored our attempts to negotiate, even with me getting sick. I had to leave, as I felt myself getting to the point of rage. My wife however, got them to discount one meal, after a 15 minute argument, with me waiting outside.

I’m a fan. My 3 stars is great food and, okay service. My only complaint is that the waitress didn’t put my order for hashbrowns in and, once I made a comment she simply said oh I forgot and, brought me the wrong ones. They tasted burnt and, I just didn’t care for the food after that.

YUM!!! From the moment I walked inside and tried a small sliver of free sample chocolate chip cookie with marshmallows bar, I knew this place would be good. Went with the extreme French toast with cinnamon and apples and it was a real treat. Outdoor seating is a nice perk. Will definitely eat here or order baked goods here again.

I have only been to Wheatfields once before at the Papillion location. I was super excited to go back to Wheatfields, even if it was another location. They have a wide varity of desserts. I was overwhelmed and so excited to choose a dessert! It literally took me 30minutes to finally decide on one dessert. Also, on Mondays the desserts are on sale because they are trying to get rid of the extra/overflow of desserts they baked on the weekend. I decided to order the peach cobbler bars. I was so sad when I saw mold on top of my peach cobbler bar when served it. I sat there and waited for the waitress to come back. The waitress came and said, «it’s not my fault mold is on there». But it was her fault for not seeing it and serving it to me. She took off the dessert from my bill and asked if I wanted another. I said no in fear of being served more moldy desserts. Overall, the Waitress was very friendly, but we arrived at 5:30 and didn’t get our check until 7:30pm.

I thought that I had written a review for Wheatfields before; I guess not. This is one of my favorite places for breakfast. I love the Lobster Cake Benedict. It is very delicious. I have tried a few of their other option. Of which there are a tun. I also like the Morning Glory Muffin. If you are going on a Sunday I highly recommend that you go early. They get very busy.

I’ve come to this restaurant dozens of times over the years. I would always try to stop in when visiting relatives. And now that I’ve moved back to Omaha, I find myself here with my wife and friends at least once if not twice a month. I’ve never given a five-star review to a restaurant, so take me seriously when I say if you like great food that tastes homemade and fresh and love a broad menu without spending a fortune, this might be the best place in Omaha to accomplish all those things. It’s very casual with low to medium prices, great atmosphere if you want a fairly quiet restaurant experience, but you’ll totally fit in as well if you want to bring a lot of people or have several children. If you’re a cyclist, a popular Papio-Creek bike trail runs right by this restaurant. So if you want to combine a bike trip with a restaurant or snack stop, this is perfect for that as well. While there lots of excellent things on the menu — including the mashed potato and meatloaf Sunday, I almost always end up buying some version of the Ron’s fried chicken with coleslaw and heavenly mashed potatoes. And I’m not kidding when I say heavenly. When the plate arrives, it always has three pieces of fried chicken on the right, and a healthy helping of mashed potatoes on the left with golden gravy that might as well be candy. I stick a forkful in my mouth and literally close my eyes and breath in the moment as I allow all my taste sensations to fully savor and remember this moment in all its glory. ITISTHATAMAZING! I catch myself reliving those moments and pining for my next trip to Wheatfields at least weekly. One of the great joys of my life is getting to go here often after moving back to Omaha, to re-live that mashed potato moment over and over and over again. That’s LIVING! And that’s to say nothing of the fried chicken, which moist and not greasy on the outside. They even I think drizzle honey on the outside to make it even more pleasing. And the bird itself is juicy and perfect. I also enjoy the lemonade a ton, but the gravy and fried chicken and freshly squeezed lemonade often served in a tall glass all at once can be almost too sweat. You’ve been warned, Patrick

I went for brunch on a weekday and the service was great. My waitress was very attentive. I got the fried chicken and meatloaf special. The fried chicken was awesome! It was juicy and perfectly sweet from the honey. On the other hand, the meatloaf was average. The sauce was too sweet. Without the sauce, there wasn’t any flavor in the meatloaf. For breakfast/brunch food place, it was a bit over priced. I like their bakery. They have a lot of variety.

I’ve eaten at the Wheatfields in Old Market several times. The food has always been good. The Wheatfields on 103rd has a nice layout. I looked up and noticed some of the trim could use some dusting. I ordered the crab cake benedict, which I’ve had before. What can go wrong with a dish that has crab cakes sitting on hash browns topped with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. I don’t expect the crab cakes to taste like they would at a seafood restaurant sitting on the bay, ocean, etc. The crab cakes were just fine. The poached eggs, however, were overdone. I poked them with my fork and nothing came out. I was very sad. The yolks were pretty much done, which made it difficult, well impossible to spread what should have been gorgeous, creamy yellow yolk onto each bite. The raspberry muffin was good. Baked treats at Wheatfields are always delicious. Two stars seems rough, but I think it’s appropriate especially when comparing this one to the one in Old Market. If you have never been to Wheatfields, you should go, but I recommend checking out the one downtown.

We used to enjoy brunch here but had a few bad service experiences. Wanting to give them another chance, I called to inquire about their menu and dietary questions. The manager, Trent, informed me that«the customer should know what’s restricted, not the staff, and we can’t know what’s vegan. But for gluten free, we can do things like leave off the hollandaise…» Really? It’s been a while since I made hollandaise but I’ve never used flour… We likely will not be back unless they make some serious changes.

Look — -what can I say — -solid place and awesome food. We went for Easter morning and had such great food — and such great service — we plan to go back every Sunday after Church. Portions are HUGE — so consider sharing unless you are super hungry or a big eater like me :). The bakery items are soooooooooo fresh. Pastry gets 5 stars — and food a solid 4. PS – manager or head gentleman seating patrons does a bang-up job moving folks into /out of this gem. If you have not gone — give it a try. Cheers

We went here for breakfast early(9am) on a Sunday morning. Even so, the place was well on it’s way to being packed. We sat on the indoor patio. Nice if you like sunlight, but bad if you have back issues or are expecting. The chairs are brutal with no back support at all. The food itself was ok. The cherry struedel was the highlight. The eggs and hash browns were ok, the bacon was sub par. Overall this meal is better had at IHOP, except they don’t have the fabulous bakery. The cake we had for my baby shower was made here. The Strawberry Wedding Cake and everyone loved it. I recommend skipping the restaurant and just going straight for the bakery.

I really enjoy eating breakfast and brunch at Wheatfields. This location is very busy on the weekends, but it is larger than the other two locations and has some nice outdoor seating. They also take call aheads. I have tried several of their specialty pancakes, waffles, and french toasts. I also really enjoy their salads and potato casseroles. On a recent visit I tried one of their specials, the lobster cake benedict. This contained lobster cakes topped with hollandaise on a bed of crème brûlée potatoes. This dish was one of the most decadent and savory dishes I have ever had. I am obsessed with their crème brûlée potatoes and they were made that much better by the lobster cakes and delicious hollandaise sauce. They also have great baked goods. I had a muffin with my meal that was good and I also purchased some awesome cookies for a party later that day. They were buttery, perfectly frosted, and looked beautiful. Their strawberry wedding cake is one of my favorite cakes ever. I would recommend this place for breakfast or brunch or if you want to treat yourself to a baked good or need some for a party.
