I was at WineStyles tonight for a fundraiser and was impressed with this business. The owner clearly cares about demystifying wine and making it enjoyable for the average person. Despite a crowded room he was more than happy to repeatedly take the time to explain their nontraditional system of categorizing wines. I asked him if he was afraid he’d lose his voice, and he replied ‘nah, I do this all the time.’ To further cement their commitment to making wine accessible, the vast majority of the bottles cost less than $ 25. The«if you insist» section has $ 25+ bottles. They also have a nice selection of beers. I’ll be back…

Love this place! The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. The owner is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The wines are well organized. They sell wine by the bottle or glass. They also serve cheeses and have a nice selection of spreads, salsas, and even gourmet chocolates! They also have the usual wine store accessories. I recommended checking it out! I go here often to get gifts for friends. It is a great place to go for wedding, bridal shower, or house warming gifts.

I love this place! The concept is great, and I love how all the wine is organized on the wall. I work over at Corkscrew Wine and Cheese in west Omaha, and this is the only other place where I’ll buy wine because prices are reasonable. The owner here is so nice as well. Just good people, and I felt very welcome here. Every Friday night they have wine tasting, and I want to go down there one of these days but I’m usually working. Anyway, I would definitely check this place out. Much recommended if you love wine. Oh and they have a good beer selection as well!

I’m a big fan of the WineStyles concept. The store’s recent move and expansion across the street has allowed them to stock a nice variety of beer and specialty drinks as well. Plus, if you give about a week notice they can order just about anything your little heart desires. Add high tea, cheese tastings, and other events… how can you not get into that? Samples flow freely as well, which makes it easier to find that perfect style(or in my case, styles). As a result I always stock up at 5 – 6 bottles at a time when I shop here. Still, not a big deal because the prices are relatively low. The store is organized by wine style(surprise!) and all bottles are under $ 25… except for the section called ‘if you insist [on spending more]’. Visiting this store has allowed me to expand my wine repertoire beyond Pinot Noir and Cabernet and [I’ll admit it] picking wines based on labels and bottles. Maybe if you know exactly what you’re looking for this isn’t the kind of place for you, but if you’re like me and operate in generalities when it comes to what you like and don’t like in the world of vino… make the trip to Wine Styles.

My husband and I decided to check out one of their weekly«Styles» tastings a while back. The idea is simple: instead of separating wine by varietals/colors/etc, they sort them by ‘style.’ At the Styles Tasting, you get to try one pre-chosen wine from each style(6 tastings total). This is supposed to help you find out what your wine style is. After this particular tasting, we were sold. We had a GREAT time meeting new people, and we were thrilled with the samples we got for $ 5/person(free for members). We joined that night, and since then, we’ve been trying to make it to atleast two tastings a month. Our membership was $ 35, and with that cost, you can get up to three bottles of wine per month. Addtionally, they have a number of other events every month that are free or nearly-free for members and at a low cost for friends. I’ve already been to a Ladies Night(free massage!), and I’m excited to start going to their new theme night tastings. We look forward to our Friday night tasting each week.

It is hard to give a good review after my recent experience there. I think some of their«concept» is good. This is a great wine store for people that don’t know about wine. Their concept is that none of their wine is more than $ 20.00 and they have the wines grouped into categories so that you can find something you like more easily. You can«join» Winestyles for something like $ 35 a month, which gives you 2 bottles of wine equal to that amount. You get a real wine glass(rather than a plastic cup) at their winetastings(the girl there seems to think this is a really big deal). A friend of mine bought a winetasting for 12. I am sure it was not cheap. There were 6 wines and we were all given a small amount to drink. There is very limited seating, so most of us had to stand for this hour + wine tasting. When we finished, I helped myself to some of the leftover wine. The girl who did the tasting, quickly went and grabbed all the bottles. I asked her, can’t we have the rest? No, this is just a TASTING. WTF! I cannot recommend such a stingy place. They have their own«brand» of wine, which are all blends, my husband suggested that they must use the leftovers from their tastings to make the blends. I have NEVER been to a tasting like this. Won’t be going back. There are plenty of other places to buy wine in Omaha.
