Had lunch with friend here and found it to be very good. We both had their 3 roll lunch specials, which had like 20 different choices of sushi to pick from. I had the spicy eel, eel avocado & spicy salmon; they were all quite delicious, fresh & quickly prepared. The miso soup & salad for appetizers were so good too. My buddy lives local and this hibachi & sushi bar is one of his favorite choices.

We sat down and everything seemed to be going well. Then we realized the shafted not speak any English. You do the names of all the items that he was cooking and that was the only English she spoke. He put teriyaki sauce on everything, including the scallops. I was unable to stop him from putting that teriyaki on the scallops. I was barely able to keep it from burning my steak. Four people at the grill and everyone ordered their steak differently but everyone steaks started and ended at the same time this was the worst hibachi grill I have ever eaten at.

The hibachi grill always serves up delicious meals, and the chef was not only friendly, but let the customers try the sake by squirting it in our mouths like a water gun game. I thought it was one of the most lighthearted and fun experiences I’ve ever had at a restaurant.

Very nice atmosphere inside and very courteous staff. Food was great, kids had chicken katsu which tasted excellent, very nicely battered, not heavy and a great tasting sauce to dip it in. Ordered the Phoenix roll which was very tasty and did not disappoint. The main meal was shrimp teriyaki and the wife had the chicken teriyaki lunch specials. Shrimp was good sized and had great flavor. I would definitely return.

So sad. this place is not what is used to be. The food was hot but the plates and mountains of garnish are so cold everything was chilly in 5 minutes. my wife and I ordered Beef Negimake only to discover they only had one portion. she changed her order. The apps came out in 30 seconds and the main dish came out 30 minutes later… strange timing. At 8:00 pm on a Friday night the place was empty. That is a bad sign. I love beef negimake and I have eaten it all over America. Theirs was cold and with too much spring onion and not enough beef. also, the onion under the negimake is supposed to be very hot and mostly cooked, theirs is raw and ice cold. Tiny tiny tiny bowls of rice? this is a Japanese place right?

Decided to take the family out for hibachi. Food was good. Service was good. Would love for them to expand the drink menu. Mom had salmon and shrimp with fried rice. She enjoyed it. Daughter had salmon and chicken with noodles. However, she got sick after eating the salad. Not sure if it’s because of her peanut allergy. I had seafood trio(shrimp, scallops & lobster) and fried rice. I enjoyed it.

This is the first Japanese restaurant I’ve been to. It was a nice place! Looks very unassuming from the exterior. I probably would have avoided it actually but a friend of mine wanted to go. She said the food was very good for Japanese(she has much more experience than I do). I had the filet which was delicious. The carrot-ginger salad was amazing. I don’t even like ginger! I’d definitely go back.

Did not get to eat here. Called for reservations, said they could sit our group if 40. The place does not even hold 40 people. I got 8 phone calls confirming this. When we get to the restaurant they wanted to sit half of us to eat and then sit the other half after they ate. REALLY?! Absolutely ridiculous! Of not go if you have a large group!

Surprisingly good addition to the Oneonta restaurant scene. The portions are larg and the sushi was fresh and tasty. Tempura not as fresh, miso soup rather bland. Good service.

I was pleasantly surprised by Mt Fuji. I’ve been to many many hibachi restaurants — good and bad. And given its location, I wasn’t expecting much. But the food was actually very very good. I had the hibachi shrimp and scallops and beef negimaki. I wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Fantastic, fresh sushi and great Japanese fare. Great find in a small town! We came up to the area to go skiing and stayed locally. We past by this place and decided to take a shot… boy am I glad we did. Although it was a weeknight(not sure how this place would be on a busy weekend), food was great(totally unexpected). Service could have been better(waiter disappeared when we were looking for the check — given there were only 3 tables, we should not have had to wait so long). 4 stars for the food, 2.5 stars for service — still giving an overall 4.

Fantastic Sushi! I’ve lived in Japan and eat sushi regularly. Considering the location and proximity to fresh fish, this place delivers with flying colors!

Without a doubt, the best Japanese food in Oneonta. They were attentive to my vegan needs, and offered very friendly service. I haven’t gone for Hibachi there, but from what I’ve seen, the Hibachi does look fun. All the food was delicious. Veggie wraps had fresh, crisp vegetables and creamy avocado. Heard the tempura was cooked properly and NOT saturated with oil, which means the oil was the right temperature. Salmon was cooked perfectly, according to my mother, who is a chef. She did think there was a little too much teriyaki sauce on it, but that was a minor gripe. Squid was tough; wouldn’t order that again. Salad was fresh, miso soup was the same as any other Japanese restaurant. The plates of sushi they make are truly beautiful, and I would recommend the sushi to anyone planning on visiting this place. Will come back here in the future.

Best Asian place to eat in town. Went on a Thursday night for hibachi. My boyfriend and I were seated right away and served our soup and salad. The chef was fun, talented, and cooked the meat exactly how each individual wanted it. They serve two dipping sauces with your meal which are phenomenal. I got chicken with fried rice and mixed vegetables and they give you two pieces of shrimp as a bonus. Everything was absolutely delicious. I am definitely coming back for more.

Worst Japanese restaurant ever. They were rude from the moment we walked in the door. I wanted sushi and my friend wanted hibachi, just because I wasnt ordering hibachi they wanted to seat us at a regular table. If we’re paying for hibachi I want to see it get cooked. Because the table wasn’t full they made us wait until it was full. I ordered sushi which was so so and a tofu dish that was just disgusting. It was soaked in oil and over done with soy sauce which just tasted too salty. I literally took a bite of food and that was it. It was totally over priced for the quality. I will never go back there.

Hibachi is one of the things we have to try in what ever state we go to. and most are good, and some are not. This place had great food, everything was tasty, food cooked perfectly. I always judge the shrimp suace and this on was ok nothing great. our chef was very entertaining, what killed this place was on waitress, i dont know if she was having a bad day or what but biggest b@tch for no reason. Was very rude, rushed out our soups and salads, very blunt. She messed up my wifes order and the chef only had one of her meats, my wife was getting full and told here just charge here for just the chicken… the waitress acted like we insulted her mother or something and kept telling her to take extra steak or chicken home. We didnt want another peice just charge us for the chicken, was very rude, then once we get our check it looked like she still charged us, so my wife call her over shows here, she takes it comes back and show my wife the discount is on the bottom. then throws the check book at her on the table with our crdit card flying out onto the floor… then walks away. Its a shape the food was good but i dont think we will be coming back here again.

Ignore the fact that this place is in a strip mall in Oneonta. Trust me, you’ll be surprised like we were that the sushi is pretty dang good. I had the Twins roll(made with shrimp and soft shell crab tempura) and would not hesitate getting it again. We ordered the house saki and found it to have a slight vinegar flavor to it, but maybe that’s what you get when you order the cheapest saki on the menu.

Has a very yummy sashimi lunch here. We started with some of the best vegetable gyoza we have had. Very tender skin, cooked perfectly and a nice filling. We followed that with the sashimi selection — tuna, yellowtail, striped bass, and white tuna — all well cut and tasting very fresh. The one off note was the spider roll — I wasn’t a gigantic fan of the sweet sauce that was on top of it.

i’m shocked that no one has reviewed this place yet, but maybe it’s because it’s relatively hidden. squished between bed bath && beyond and the mall, this recently opened japanese restaurant is a nice change from the normal offerings of oneonta. the interior is clean and inviting, with a few tables in the front, and hibachi tables in the back. my friends and i went for sushi, and were excited to see that they had hibachi as well. we got shrimp tempura rolls, california rolls, and chicken and shrimp hibachi. the sushi was surprisingly delicious considering it’s most like frozen fish, but the hibachi was the star. my steak was delicious, and the chicken was great too. the sauces that came with each were superb, and we all left stuffed to the brim. it is on the pricey side, but i think the quality of food is worth it.
